  • The purpose of this review is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the intricate relationships between cognitive control, depression, and emotion regulation. Cognitive control, encompassing processes such as attentional control, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility, plays a central role in regulating thoughts, behaviors, and emotions in alignment with internal goals and external demands. Depression, characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and cognitive impairments, is associated with deficits in cognitive control processes. Emotion regulation strategies, such as cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression, enable individuals to modulate emotional experiences and responses. The bidirectional relationships between cognitive control, depression, and emotion regulation underscore the complexity of cognitive and emotional processes in depression. Understanding these relationships is crucial for developing targeted interventions aimed at promoting cognitive and emotional well-being and preventing depression onset and recurrence. Moreover, recognizing the roles of cognitive control and emotion regulation in depression holds promise for informing clinical practice and enhancing therapeutic interventions. This review highlights the importance of considering cognitive control and emotion regulation in the assessment and treatment of depression and provides insights for future research and clinical practice.

  • To examine the effect of students' Cognitive level upon their achievement on Science. the students' cognitive levels were tested by using GALT(Group Assessment of Logical Thinking) and examined the Correlation between the cognitive level and achievement According to the results, most students were still in the conerete level. Only 60% of 9th grade students could handle the logic of displacement volume. In case of proportional logic and logic of probability, only 40% of 9th graders could handle them. Only 10% of the students could understand Correlational logic. Cognitive level and students achievement were estimated to be in a very closely related. Students who were in a high cognitive level showed better achievement scores on knowledge, comprehensive, inquiry, and application items than those who were in low cognitive level. Therefore, this study suggests that the content of the current middle school science should be revised in away to match the students' cognitive level.

  • Objectives: To study about cognitive degree of drinking evil of the department of nursing science students in a partial area. Methods: The data were collected by questionnaire from the 249 nursing science students. The analysis of the data was used by SAS program(ver. 9.2). Technical statistics analysis was used in general characteristics and drinking related characteristics and cognition of objects. T-test was used in cognitive degree of social evil by drinking as characteristics of objects. Logistic regression was used in factors affecting on cognitive degree of social evil by drinking. Results: Cognitive degree of social evil by drinking was low as more drinking related outlay expenses and was high as more moderation in drinking and publicity experience. Conclusions: University and the government authorities must consider the serious and importance of the problem and enforce moderation in drinking and publicity for nursing science students and develop education program and prepare the publicity material.

  • The idea that students must experience cognitive conflict before conceptual change can occur is not new. In light of this idea, many teaching strategies have been applied in educational practices. However, there is not much literature about how students are experiencing cognitive conflict, how this experience affects students learning processes, and how we use that knowledge to improve our science instruction. This study aimed to propose possible answers about these questions. In this paper, we conducted the first question as a first part of our research. To do this, we reviewed related literature and analyzed protocols that were produced in previous studies. As a result, a model of cognitive conflict was developed. This study's findings may lead to further understanding and use of students' cognitive conflict, which has a complex role in science instruction.

  • Objective: This study was to compares and analyzes programs applied to improve cognitive function in patients with mild cognitive impairment and early dementia in the community to find out their effectiveness. Methods: In this study, 12 papers were finalized by searching for "elderly", "cognitive", "community", and "program" using the database of the Research Information System (RISS), National Assembly Library, and Korean Studies Information (KISS). Results: Programs for cognitive function were in the order of cognitive stimulation program, arts and crafts, and exercise program. In the program, rather than applying the cognitive stimulation program alone, the program was operated by combining leisure or exercise, music, art, and handicraft. The time was shown to be 30 minutes. The most frequently used evaluation tool was MMSE, followed by GDS and BBS. By cognitive domain, cognitive stimulation program and memory, satisfaction in psychology, and balance ability in exercise were evaluated the most. In the cognitive area, various cognitive stimulation areas were included, and in the exercise area, basic exercise, muscle strength exercise, joint exercise, and balance exercise were applied. Conclusion: Therefore, developing a program to improve cognitive function for mild cognitive impairment, it will be possible to prepare guidelines to establish and development.

  • This paper discusses the complementarity of cognitive science and meditation in understanding human mind.Although cognitive science has contributed in scientific understanding of human mind,it has limitations in experiential understanding of human mind.Besides cognitive scoence has dealt mainly with logical and rational aspects of human mind. These limitaions of cognitive science can be overcome by including subjective experience in its subject matter and complemented by introducing meditiation.Medditation in various forms has been practiced as means helping experintial understanding of human mind and the world for many years in almost all cultures in the world. However, the processes of meditation are not fully understood yet.The scientific understanding of the processes of meditiain can be enhanced through approaches of cognitive science. Thus understanding of human mind and the world can be deeper by complementary acceptance of cognitive science and meditiation.

  • Among many remedial approaches against the increasing unfavorableness toward school science, one of the prevalent findings studied by affective experts is that students' achievement in science and their attitude toward it has a relatively weak relationship. In contrast, cognitive experts assert that the conceptual change involves more than cognitive aspects, and may be influenced by affective factors such as beliefs, motivation, learning attitudes, and sociocultural contexts. The latter regards continuous conceptual change as leading to better student understanding of science with variables of students' attitude toward science. As an initial step toward illuminating the affective-cognitive learning aspects of science, the purpose of this study is to develop an instrument for analyzing the relationship between students' conceptual understanding and affective factors. Cognitive questionnaires from the database of distribution in students' misconceptions of physics (DMP project), and affective questionnaires from the Relevance of Science Education (ROSE project) are integrated into our instrument. The respondents are high school students in Okayama prefecture, Japan. Through the pilot test, the authors integrated attitude toward science (AS) and interest inventory (II) from ROSE into cognitive understanding (CD) from DMP. Statistical methodologies such as factor analysis and item total correlation theoretically discerned the effective sixty-three items from the two original item pools. Having discussed two validity issues, the authors suggest ongoing research associated with our affective-cognitive research perspective.

  • The interaction effects of the cognitive style and the presentation order of learning material was explored in the study. Visualizers performed better when the graphic information was presented prior to the verbal information, whereas verbalizers did better when the verbal information was presented prior to the graphic information. The results of the present research have practical implication of personalized multimedia design based on the learner's cognitive style. The results also have suggested that the cognitive load of a multimedia material can be varied depending on the compatibility of the cognitive style and the material.
