This research is to investigate the perception and satisfaction of high school students for Saenghwal Hanbok school uniforms. With this study we will be able to provide useful information for clothing companies as well as schools which are planning to introduce Saenghwal Hanbok as a uniform. The research subjects included 446 high school students of Chungcheong and Gyeonggi areas. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Male students evaluated Saenghwal Hanbok affirmatively in terms of its activity convenience. Female students, on the other hand, thought highly of it in such aspects as modern beauty, aesthetic color, distinction, symmetry, wearability, tidiness, color harmony, color unity, decoration details, and suitability for special occasions as well as modem daily life. 2. The satisfaction with Saenghwal Hanbok as a school uniform stayed, on an average, below a mid-level. It appeared that high schools with long history showed more interest than comparatively newly-established schools. Also, students with obesity liked Saenghwal Hanbok more than normal students. 3. The students' demand for price cut was highest among other demands of Saenghwal Hanbok school uniform. In addition, almost all items including wearability, material, color, activity convenience, and patterns appeared to need more improving.

School uniform has improved greatly in terms of fit, size, function, and design due to steep competition in the market and the strong interest of researcher, while little effort has been made for physical training uniform, so the objective of this study is to provide basic research data of the training uniform for the improvement of its design and fitness. For this purpose, 327 high school girls provided information on size and design of their uniform, level of satisfaction, the recognized ease in uniform. Most students wore the physical training uniform in another classes and the long sleeved shirt were the most popular one. They often used the uniform for the protection from cold and for comfortable activeness. For a long sleeved shirt, most students preferred raglan sleeve, zip-up collar, straight waist line, and ribbed sleeve cuffs and hem. For long pants, students preferred elastic waist band and ribbed pants cuffs. Currently, the short-sleeved shirt mostly had a shirts collar, ribbed hem, straight waist line with raglan sleeve, but students wanted a round neck and set-in sleeve. For overall level of satisfaction, students showed high satisfaction in terms of function and psychological effect, while aesthetic quality of the uniform was needed to be much improved. Most students evaluated that the circumference of uniforms properly fit or had a little ease, and students considered waist size the most suitable. The long pants length evaluated properly fit or a little long. Students accepted that the ease of summer uniform was more suitable than winter uniform's both at circumference and at length. Depending on students' height distribution, the length of long pants and short pants varied significantly.

The purpose of this study was to serve as a basis for mapping out successful strategies to build the professional self-image of nurses through uniform, by examining their satisfaction with uniform and professional self-image by general characteristics, and identifying the correlational relationship between the two factors. The subjects in this study were 205 nurses who served in general departments of two university hospitals in Seoul. The departments where special uniform was required, including ICU, RR, OR and CSR, were excluded. The data were collected from September 15 through 22, 2000. For measurement of uniform satisfaction level, a uniform satisfaction scale was prepared by myself, and Arthur(1990)'s PSCNI translated and modified by Song Kyong Ae and Rho Chun Hee(1996) was employed. The Cronbach a of the uniform satisfaction scale and PSCNI was 0.90 and 0.86 respectively. The collected data were analyzed by SAS, and real number, percentage, average and standard deviation were calculated. Besides, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's r procedures were utilized, and Scheffe test was conducted as a posttest. The findings of this study were as below: 1. The uniform satisfaction of the nurses investigated was scored 2.52 on the basis of 4 points, which was on the medium level. By subarea, symbolicity satisfaction was 2.48, and aesthetic satisfaction was 2.60. The functionability satisfaction was 2.44. So the esthetic satisfaction was greatest. 2. Among general characteristics of the subjects, two factors made a significant difference to their uniform satisfaction : age(F=4.05, P=.0189), and total career(F=4.25, P=.0061). 3. Their professional self-image got 2.75 on the basis of 4 points, which was on upper middle level. The subarea score was 2.79 for professional work, 2.52 for satisfaction and 2.97 for communication. The communication area was rated highest, and the satisfaction area was scored lowest. 4. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, professional self-image was different according to five factors : age(F=17.83, P=.001), marital status(T=5.18, P=.0000), educational background(F=8.72, P=.0002), position(T=-5.29, P=.0000) and total career(F=15.23, p=.0001). Better professional self-image was possessed by the older group than the younger one, by the married group than the singles, by the better-educated group than the less-educated, by the nurses in position equal to or higher than charge nurse, or by the higher-career group. 5. The correlational relationship of uniform satisfaction to professional self-image was statistically significant, yet very weak(r=.1978, p=.0045). The satisfaction area of professional self-image was correlated to every uniform satisfaction area, including symbolicity(4=.4393, p=.0001), aesthetics(r=.2471, p=.0004), functionability(r=.3094, p=.0001) and total satisfaction(r=.4050, p=.0001). Therefore, the uniform satisfaction gave an impact on the satisfaction area of professional self-image of the nurses, and there was a significant correlational relationship between uniform symbolicity area and total professional self-image(r=.2416, p=.0005).

This study intends to provide sources which enable students to satisfy uniform design as I surveyed preferable uniform design and degree of satisfaction of uniform design to students. The subjects were gathered into 91 middle-high schools and surveys were done among 400 school girls. The results are as follows; 1)The survey of uniform which students wear. For jacket, tailored collar which is single breasted is most common and for blouse, puff sleeve, soutein collar, shirt collar is common. For skirt, lastly, they usually wear side pleats skirt. 2) Thoughts of uniform students preferred uniform to casual. The merit of wearing uniform can represent themselves as the ‘students’on the other hand, the demerit is shown that uniform is inconvenient enough to move. 3)Preference of uniform design. Students prefer tailored jacket, shirt blouse, flare skirt. Basing on these results above, I’d like to suggest something about uniform. The demerit of wearing uniform lies in inconvenience. It would weaken the degree of satisfaction of uniform and have a negative influence on students in physical and mental side. So we have to find out the concrete problems, at the same time, develop measurable study which fit for body. Adolescence is period of developing and establishing self. So they really need rather creative educational atmosphere than stereo typed-control. Reflecting this opinion, Clothing habits can play an important role and in future it is desirable to have students wear not uniform but casual.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether uniform reforming behavior in high school girls is related to body image distortion, and to obtain objective data to help in guiding students in the wearing of uniforms at school. 661 freshmen and junior girls at six high schools in Kwangju city responded to questionnaires. The data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Pearson’s product-moment correlations using the SPSS 12.0 program. According to their body satisfaction level, three groups (haggard distortion, normal, overweight distortion) were identified. The data showed that a few high school girls were unable to recognize their body types correctly. It also indicated that school uniform reforming behaviors in high school girls were not related to their body image or body satisfaction level. So, it seems that students need guidance in the building up of an objective body image and wearing uniforms to fit their body types.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the wearing sensation and satisfaction of high school girls winter uniform' jacket. The subject participated in the study were 599 high school girls attending four different schools. The fabrics were divided into two parts of stretch and non-stretch woven fabrics. The results were as follows: 1. The high school girls showed body image distortion that she recognized herself as fatter than her real body type. Especially, this was severe in the slim body type. 2. In the aspect of the satisfaction for uniforms' jacket made with stretch fabric and non-stretch woven fabric. the elastic fabric was more satisfied than the non-stretch one because its width and length was shorter and fitter than non-stretch one. 3. When they wore the school uniform jacket, the wearing sensation of one made with stretch and non-stretch woven fabrics showed significant differences in arms hole when raising hands, front bust when carrying backpack on their back, backs while studying at desks, the upper arms and the elbows. 4. As for the alteration of school uniform jacket, the non-stretch woven fabric was appeared to be altered more than the stretch one.

The purpose of this study was to acquire the better and more correct information on the school uniforms with which middle or high school students may be satisfied. We investigated clothing interest, school uniform satisfaction, school uniform modification behavior and the relationship anions those factors. The data were collected from 472 questionnaires of middle and high school students who lived in Gyeonggi-do and analyzed statistically. We found that adolescents felt a great interest in appearance, fashion, brand orientation of clothing, and they spent most of personal expenses in buying clothes. However, the extent of adolescents' satisfaction on school uniform was low. Especially, the satisfaction on status symbolism, fashion, washing & management, body comfort and economical efficiency of school uniform was found low. Three hundred fifty three students (74.8%) agreed to modify the school uniform for personality and in chase of fashion. Two hundred eighty four students (58.1%) needed partially and variously modified school uniform, and these modifications showed a tendency of tightness to the body. We also found that the higher adolescents' clothing interests in appearance, conformity, modesty and brand orientation were. the more satisfied adolescents were with the status symbolism and the washing & management of school uniform and the more affected the school uniform modification behaviors of students were. There were. however. no significant difference between the extent of school uniform satisfaction and the school uniform modification behavior, Another research of school uniform will be necessary in order to reduce the discrepancy between clothing needs for representing the appearance, personality and fashion in the present adolescents and those for representing the worthy and modest images of a student and pursuing the economic value through school uniform in the older generation. We suggest that students should consider these results when they choose school uniform and furthermore both the person in charge of schools and school uniform makers should refer to those when they design and make school uniform.

This study aims to the recognize the importance of uniform design and provide empirical data to companies after getting the effects of uniform design in cosmetics companies on service quality perception and customer satisfaction. For this, a preliminary survey was conducted against 30 college women (aged 20s) from 'K' University, and effective samples were obtained from 250 people. In terms of a research method, collected data were coded and analyzed using SPSS. The respondents' characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics. For reliability analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was used. For a validity test, factor analysis was performed. In addition, correlation analysis was carried out to examine multicollinearity among variables. The analysis results found that the characteristics of uniform design have a positive effect on service quality and customer satisfaction. Among the characteristic of uniform design, however, functionality wasn't confirmed in a relational test. This kind of result was obtained because the uniform was mostly analyzed from customers' perspective, not from the wearer's standpoint. It is expected that the study results would be helpful in establishing brand identity through the improvement of the importance of uniform design.

Girls' school uniform evaluative criteria and their uniform modification were investigated. The data were collected by questionnaire from 579 middle and high school girls living in Incheon during the fall of 2003. The uniform evaluative criteria consisted of five dimensions: aesthetics, comfort, economy, management, and status concealment factor. The uniform evaluative criteria were used to cluster the students into five groups: economic, practical, aesthetic, negative, and active. The uniform modifications were investigated in regard to sleeve length, sleeve width, breast width, jacket length, skirt length, hip width, and waist width. The aesthetic and the active groups intended to modify uniforms less in sleeve length and skirt length than the other three groups. There were significant differences in the uniform modifications among demographics: school years, height, weight, spending money, satisfaction/dissatisfaction with spending money, and clothing expenditures.

Unlike other ready-made suits, which are normalized based on aspects like, designs, materials, sewing methods, has to be worn for three years, designing and pattern development of school uniform depends greatly on satisfaction and appearance. Furthermore, school uniform is of importance as many teenagers spend most of their time at school. In the present work, an attempt has been made to suggest ideal school uniform for female middle school students based on their actual uniform conditions and design preferences, so that the demands of artistic aspect, and the requirements of a suitable uniform for a female teenager can be fulfilled. Initially, a survey about the actual wearing condition was held to figure out the actual uniform conditions and design preferences. Based on the result of the survey, two types of school uniform were made with different patterns. Finally, the most ideal school uniform for female middle school students was suggested based on the experiment involving a few aspects such as suitability and functionality. It is conjectured that school uniform survey and investigation, could provide useful information to the school uniform business market.
