Impacts of e-Grocery Consumers' Shadow Work on Mobile Shopping Avoidance and Switching Behavior (온라인 식료품 소비자의 그림자노동인식이 모바일 쇼핑회피와 전환행동에 미치는 영향)

  • In nowadays, Covid-19 has transformed patterns of consumers' behavior into a non-face-to-face mode. As the patterns of consumption have been digitalized, it has become a daily routine for consumers who perform so-called shadow work, which involves unpaid jobs that they have to do by themselves. In mobile grocery service context, consumers' shadow work could lead to shopping avoidance as well as switching toward other shopping channels. Thus, this study is to examine how consumers' perception of shadow work affect mobile shopping avoidance and switching intention toward other shopping channels. This study collected 283 survey data from online respondents who have experience on subscription services for ordering groceries in online. We also tested our research model by using partial least squares. Based on our results, this study has found that the perception of shadow work had a positive effect on mobile shopping avoidance as well as switching intention. We expect that our findings could contribute to relevant research on shadow work and suggest practical implications for digital platforms dealing with subscription business models

  • This study presents a chatter vibration avoidance program for the milling process. Chatter vibration has a negative effect on workpieces and spindle-tools. When chatter vibration occurs, the cutting tool is loaded dynamically, a chatter pattern is generated on the workpiece, and the tool life is reduced. The developed program is composed of various modules such as an FFT analyzer, an impact test analyzer, a chatter vibration indicator, and a spindle speed recommender. The proposed program is verified using an AISI D2 cutting experiment in milling process. The effect of chatter vibration on the machining condition can be simulated by the suggested method, and successfully exploited to avoid chatter vibration.

  • The recent development in robot field shows that service robot which interacts with human and provides specific service to human has been researched continually. Especially, robot for human welfare becomes the center of public concern. At present time, guide robot is priority field of general welfare robot and helps the blind keep safe path when he walks outdoor. In this paper, guide robot provides not only collision avoidance but also the best walking direction and velocity to blind people while recognizing environment information from various kinds of sensors. In addition, it is able to provide the most safe path planing on behalf of blind people.

Administration of Phytoceramide Enhances Memory and Up-regulates the Expression of pCREB and BDNF in Hippocampus of Mice

  • This study was aimed at investigating the possible effects of phytoceramide (Pcer) on learning and memory and their underlying mechanisms. Phytoceramide was orally administered to ICR mice for 7 days. Memory performances were assessed using the passive avoidance test and Y-maze task. The expressions of phosphorylated cAMP response element binding protein (pCREB), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) were measured with immunoblot. The incorporation of 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) in hippocampal regions was investigated by using immunohistochemical methods. Treatment of Pcer enhanced cognitive performances in the passive avoidance test and Y-maze task. Immunoblotting studies revealed that the phosphorylated CREB and BDNF were significantly increased on hippocampus in the Pcer-treated mice. Immunohistochemical studies showed that the number of immunopositive cells to BrdU was significantly increased in the hippocampal dentate gyrus regions after Pcer-treatment for 7 days. These results suggest that Pcer contribute to enhancing memory and BDNF expression and it could be secondary to the elevation of neurogenesis.

The Effects of The concentration Program Based on Acceptance-Commitment Therapy with High School Students (수용전념치료 기반 집중력프로그램이 고등학생들의 집중력 증가에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of the this study was to evaluate the effects of self-Control, avoidance cognitive fusion, concentration and learning attitude with high school students. For this, the group acceptance-commitment therapy programs were administered for 12 sessions on a weekly basis. 10 high school students were assigned to treatment group and 10 were assigned to control group. Both pre- post- follow-up of self-Control, avoidance cognitive fusion, concentration and learning attitude were assessed. The results were as the treatment group reported significantly lower avoid fusion to the control group. In addition, the treatment group reported significantly higher score level of self-Control, concentration and learning attitude compared to control. Results indicate that the treatment group is more capable than the control group, of decreasing avoid fusion, while increasing self-Control, concentration and learning attitude. This results suggest that can be applied effectively. Finally, limitations of the present study and suggestions were discussed.

Determinants of COVID-19 related infection rates and case mortality rates: 95 country cases (코로나-19 관련 감염률과 치명률의 결정요인: 95개국 사례연구)

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the western countries with advanced medical technology failed to contain coronavirus. This fact triggered our research question of what factors influence the clinical outcomes like infection rates and case mortality rates. This study aims to identify the determinants of COVID-19 related infection rates and case mortality rates. We considered three sets of independent variables: 1) socio-demographic characteristics; 2) cultural characteristics; 3) healthcare system characteristics. For the analysis, we created an international dataset from diverse sources like World Bank, Worldometers, Hofstede Insight, GHS index etc. The COVID-19 related statistics were retrieved from Aug. 1. Total cases are from 95 countries. We used hierarchical regression method to examine the linear relationship among variables. We found that obesity, uncertainty avoidance, hospital beds per 1,000 made a significant influence on the standardized COVID-19 infection rates. The countries with higher BMI score or higher uncertainty avoidance showed higher infection rates. The standardized COVID-19 infection rates were inversely related to hospital beds per 1,000. In the analysis on the standardized COVID-19 case mortality rates, we found that two cultural characteristics(e.g., individualism, uncertainty avoidance) showed statistically significant influence on the case mortality rates. The healthcare system characteristics did not show any statistically significant relationship with the case mortality rates. The cultural characteristics turn out to be significant factors influencing the clinical outcomes during COVID-19 pandemic. The results imply that the persuasive communication is important to trigger the public commitment to follow preventive measures. The strategy to keep the hospital surge capacity needs to be developed.

Design of Algorithm for Collision Avoidance with VRU Using V2X Information (V2X 정보를 활용한 VRU 충돌 회피 알고리즘 개발)

  • Autonomous vehicles use various local sensors such as camera, radar, and lidar to perceive the surrounding environment. However, it is difficult to predict the movement of vulnerable road users using only local sensors that are subject to limits in cognitive range. This is true especially when these users are blocked from view by obstacles. Hence, this paper developed an algorithm for collision avoidance with VRU using V2X information. The main purpose of this collision avoidance system is to overcome the limitations of the local sensors. The algorithm first evaluates the risk of collision, based on the current driving condition and the V2X information of the VRU. Subsequently, the algorithm takes one of four evasive actions; steering, braking, steering after braking, and braking after steering. A simulation was performed under various conditions. The results of the simulation confirmed that the algorithm could significantly improve the performance of the collision avoidance system while securing vehicle stability during evasive maneuvers.

An Exposed-Terminal-Eliminated Dual-Channel MAC Protocol for Exploiting Concurrent Transmissions in Multihop Wireless Networks

  • This paper proposes a novel exposed-terminal-eliminated medium access control (ETE-MAC) protocol by combining channel reservation, collision avoidance and concurrent transmissions to improve multi-access performance of the multihop wireless networks. Based on the proposed slot scheduling scheme, each node senses the control channel (CCH) or the data channel (DCH) to accurately determine whether it can send or receive the corresponding packets without collisions. Slot reservation on the CCH can be simultaneously executed with data packet transmissions on the DCH. Therefore, it resolves the hidden-terminal type and the exposed-terminal type problems efficiently, and obtains more spatial reuse of channel resources. Concurrent packet transmissions without extra network overheads are maximized. An analytical model combining Markov model and M/G/1 queuing theory is proposed to analyze its performance. The performance comparison between analysis and simulation shows that the analytical model is highly accurate. Finally, simulation results show that, the proposed protocol obviously outperforms the link-directionality-based dual-channel MAC protocol (DCP) and WiFlex in terms of the network throughput and the average packet delay.

  • This paper deals with an unmanned vehicle system configuration using all terrain vehicle. Many research institutes and university study and develop unmanned vehicle system and control algorithm. Now a day, they try to apply unmanned vehicle to use military device and explore space and deep sea. These unmanned vehicles can help us to work is difficult task and approach. In the previous research of unmanned vehicle in our lab, we used 1/10 scale radio control vehicle and composed the unmanned vehicle system using ultrasonic sensors, CCD camera and kinds of sensor for vehicle's motion control. We designed lane detecting algorithm using vision system and obstacle detecting and avoidance algorithm using ultrasonic sensor and infrared ray sensor. As the system is increased, it is hard to compose the system on the 1/10 scale RC car. So we have to choose a new vehicle is bigger than 1/10 scale RC car but it is smaller than real size vehicle. ATV(all terrain vehicle) and real size vehicle have similar structure and its size is smaller. In this research, we make unmanned vehicle using ATV and explain control theory of each component
