  • Radiographic examinations are used to discover and define the type and extent of disease in many clinical situations. Currently, it is common for dental patients to receive dental radiographic examinations on a routine schedule with little variation in spite of different patient signs and symptoms. Such routine scheduling of radiographic examinations may result in unnecessary patient exposure. There is also the possibility of under-utilization of radiography; this can result in inadequate or excessively delayed diagnosis. Patient selection criteria are descriptions of clinical conditions derived from patient signs, symptoms and history that identify patients who are likely to benefit from a particular radiographic examination. It makes possible making individual decisions based on history, clinical examination and risk factors. The radiographic selection criteria of dentistry have been revised in accordance with recent guidelines and peer-reviewed research in USA and Europe, but the studies of these subjects are not sufficient in our nation. In this review article, the relating factors and update necessity of radiographic selection criteria are discussed.

  • As cyber security threats increase, there is a growing demand for highly reliable systems. Common Criteria, an international standard for evaluating information security products, requires formal specification and verification of the system to ensure a high level of security, and more and more cases are being observed. In this paper, we propose highly reliable drone systems that ensure high level security level and trust. Based on the results, we use formal methods especially Z/EVES to improve the system model in terms of scheduling in the system kernel.

  • The purpose of this paper is to determine the proper reliability criteria used in generation expansion planning of electric utilities. In this paper, we tried to combine long-term generation expansion planning and short-term weekly maintenance scheduling program package. We set two scenarios in which the O&M technology of power plants will be improved or not in the future. We performed LOLP sensitivity analysis for each scenario to determine the optimum reliability criteria in the power system operation aspects.

  • The task scheduling in multiprocessor system Is one of the key elements in the effective utilization of multiprocessor systems. The optimal assignment of tasks to multiprocessor is, in almost all practical cases, an NP hard problem. Consequently various modern heuristics based algorithms have been proposed for practical reason. Recently, several approaches using Genetic Algorithm (GA) are proposed. However, these algorithms have only one objective such as minimizing cost and makespan. This paper proposes a new task scheduling algorithm using Genetic Algorithm combined simulated annealing (GA+SA) on multiprocessor environment. In solution algorithms, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the simulated annealing (SA) are cooperatively used. In this method. the convergence of GA is improved by introducing the probability of SA as the criterion for acceptance of new trial solution. The objective of proposed scheduling algorithm is to minimize makespan and total number of processors used. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown through simulation studies. In simulation studies, the results of proposed algorithm show better than that of other algorithms.

  • The resource constrained scheduling problem (RCSP) constitutes one of the most challenging problems in Project Management, as it combines multiple parameters, contradicting objectives (project completion within certain deadlines, resource allocation within resource availability margins and with reduced fluctuations), strict constraints (precedence constraints between activities), while its complexity grows with the increase in the number of activities being executed. Due to the large solution space size, this work investigates the application of Genetic Algorithms to approximate the optimal resource alolocation and obtain optimal trade-offs between different project goals. This analysis uses the cost of exceeding the daily resource availability, the cost from the day-by-day resource movement in and out of the site and the cost for using resources day-by-day, to form the objective cost function. The model is applied in different case studies: 1 project consisting of 10 activities, 4 repetitive projects consisting of 40 activities in total and 16 repetitive projects consisting of 160 activities in total, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the algorithm in different-size solution spaces and under alternative optimization criteria by examining the quality of the solution and the required computational time. The case studies 2 & 3 have been developed by building upon the recurrence of the unit/sub-project (10 activities), meaning that the initial problem is multiplied four and sixteen times respectively. The evaluation results indicate that the proposed model can efficiently provide reliable solutions with respect to the individual goals assigned in every case study regardless of the project scale.

  • A survey was conducted to get information on the utilization of irrigation systems for greenhoyses farming. Three regions were selected which represent geographical chatacteristics such as neighboring urban area, flat-field area, and mountainous area. The number of greenhouses farms interviewed was 432 in total. The contents of the survey consisted of general characteristics of greenhouse farmers, the size and location of greenhouses, cultuvated crops, irrigation method, irrigation scheduling, and irrigation automation. The analysis of the surveyed data showed that greenhouse farmers did not take technical assistances. Proper criteria or guidelines for selection and operation of irrigation systems were not available. Irrigation systems were operated by hand. Irrigation scheduling were executed by farmer's experience. Maintenance of irrigation systems in general were poor. Development of economically reasonable irrigation system is of importance.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an efficient algorithm for the management of the shift schedule in nuclear power plants in consideration with the ergonomic criteria and the regulatory codes. The ergonomic criteria considered are the work hours, overtime-work frequency and working time, start and finishing time of works, allocation of rest times and duty-offs, rotating of shifts, etc. to comply with the regulations such as the Labor Standard Act, the ILO Convention No. 171, 178, "the detailed content of a periodic safety review," enforcement regulations 19-2 of the Atomic Energy Act. The developed algorithm for the shift schedule program adopts a heuristic method to minimize the difference the workload for shift workers in nuclear power plants.

  • In competitive electricity markets, the System Operator (SO) coordinates the overall maintenance schedules whenever the collective maintenance schedule reported to SO by Gencos in the pool does not satisfy the specified operating criteria, such as system reliability or supply adequacy. In this paper, we divide maintenance schedule problem into master-problem and sub-problem. Master-problem is schedule coordination and sub-problem is DC-optimal power flow. If sub-problem is infeasible, we use the algorithm of modifying operating criteria of master-problem.

  • Due to COVID-19, organizations are rapidly changing the way they work by providing telecommuting and flexible work, and by expanding Smart Work spaces. In a Smart Work situation, workers have improved their job autonomy to choose their work methods, hours, and places. However, previous studies do not reflect the Smart Work situation and there are limitations to still using the previous job autonomy concept and measurements. To overcome these problems, this study derived job autonomy types such as methods, scheduling, criteria, time, and place applicable to Smart Work environments and verified that the five types of job autonomy have a statistically significant positive effect on Smart Workers' creative behavior. This study is meaningful in that it categorized job autonomy into five types applicable to Smart Work by adding temporal and spatial flexibility to the traditional job autonomy concept such as method, scheduling, and criteria autonomy and provided the basis for subdividing and evaluating the operation performance of Smart Work through multi-dimensional job autonomy verification.
