Scanner Certification Tool for the Standardization of Digitized Documents: Focusing on Target Factors and Measurement Programs

  • Scanners play an important role in digitally reproducing the color and imaging of original documents used in public offices; however, the current system lacks a standard for digitized documents created by scanners, complicating efforts to create a digitized system. In particular, macrography cannot guarantee the accuracy and reliability of digitalized color documents, pictures, and photographs created by scanners. To this end, we develop a standardized evaluation tool and test target to certify digitalized documents created by a scanner in the domestic environment. In this study, we enhance the accuracy and reliability of scanned data to create an advanced standard evaluation tool for scanners. Moreover, to produce a scanner certification standard, we overcome existing problems related to the growing market. We anticipate that this new standard will see a high degree of application in the current environment.

  • This paper proposes object detection algorithm using laser scanner and vision system for the path planning of autonomous mobile agents. As the scanner-based method can observe the obstacles in only two dimensions, it is hard to detect the shape and the number of obstacles. On the other hand, vision-based method is sensitive to the environment and has its difficulty in the accurate distance measurement. Thus, we combine these two methods based on K-means algorithm such that the obstacle avoidance and optimal path planning of autonomous mobile agents can be achieved.

  • A prototype of a linear real-time ultrasound B-scanner has been developed which has an axial resolution of 1-2mm and lateral resolution of 2-3mm. In the actual hardware and software implementations of the B-scanner, the following features were emphasized; (1) a dynamic focusing to improve resolution; (2) signal processing to obtain low noise image; (3) various functions for the user's convenience' (4) simplification of the system by an extensive use of recently developed LSI's; (5) development of a prototype at the level of a commercial product. This paper reports the experimental results of the overall system and the design approach of the analog part. The work on the digital part of the B-scanner is reported in part (II) seperately.

  • We report experimental results on the high-speed micromachining using a femtosecond laser (800 nm, 130 fs, 1kHz) and galvanometer scanner system (Raylase, Germany). Periodic hole drilling of silicon and glass with the scan speed of 1-20 mm/s is demonstrated. Finally, we demonstrate the utility of the femtosecond laser application to ITO patterning by using a high-speed femtosecond laser scanner system.

  • Most important step for the color matching in scanner is the color coordinate transformation from the scanner RGB space to device independent uniform color space. A variety of color calibration technologies have been developed for input device. Linear or nonlinear matrices have been conveniently applied to correct the color filter's mismatch with color matching function in scanners. The color matching accuracy is expected to be further improved when the nonlinear matrices are optimized into subdivided smaller color spaces than in single matrix of the entire color space. This article proposed the scanner calibration method using subspace division regression analysis and it were compared with conventional method.

  • This paper proposes an autonomous navigation system of mobile robots for indoor corridor environment. The system uses a laser scanner but does not use reflectors. The laser scanner measures the distance between robot and structures such as wall, pillar, and fixtures. Adaptive breakpoint detector and modified IEPF (iterative endpoint fit) are developed to find mark points from the distance data. The robot path for corridor is then generated using the angle histogram of the mark points. The experimental results are finally presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The ultrasonic handy scanner to be developed in this research is a nondestructive inspection equipment with various facility. The ultrasonic inspection is the technique area which apply range is increasing greatly with IT. The purpose of this research is development of a ultrasonic handy scan inspection device with the utility in a work spot. The ultrasonic handy scanner to be developed with portability in this research is able to carry out the spot inspection. It can contribute to the quality improvement, cost reduction and safety design.

  • 본 논문은 서울工大 전자계산소에 있는 IBM1130에 ALGOL-60 언어를 사용 가능하게 하기 위하여 ALGOL-60 콤파이러(Compiler)를 만드는데 첫 단계 인 scanner와 analyzer에 관한 것이다. 과거에 콤파이러는 주로 기계어나 어ㅆ브 리어로 쓰여졌으나, 현재는 콤파이러를 만드는 시간과 디버깅하는 시간을 줄이기 위하여 고등연어(high-level language)를 사용하는 경향이다. 본 논문은 FORTRAN IV를 사용하였다. 2장에서는 콤파이러의 구성을 설명하고, 3장에서는 ANGOL-60(Sudset)을 정의하고, 4장에서는 scanner의 구성과 작업과정을, 5장에 서는 analyzer의 구성과 작업을 설명하였다.

  • 3D scanners are needed in various fields, and their usage range is greatly expanded. In particular, it is being used to reduce costs at various stages during product development and production. Now, the importance of quality inspection in the manufacturing industry is increasing. Structured optical system applied in this study is suitable for measuring high precision of mold, press work, precision products, etc. and economical and effective 3D scanning system for measuring inspection in manufacturing industry can be implemented. We developed Structured light 3D scanner which can measure high precision by using Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector and camera. In this paper, 3D image scanner based on structured optical system can realize 3D scanning system economically and effectively when measuring inspection in the manufacturing industry.

  • An image-space telecentric lens for an intra-oral 3D scanner was designed and fabricated for dental application. Since a telecentric function can provide the same results regardless of image plane position, it helps to realize a more accurate image for an intra-oral scanner. The performance of the designed lens meets the required properties for HD resolution. In particular, lateral color is corrected within 1 pixel. This system achieves depth of focus of more than 3 mm. For user convenience, the developed system consists of a prism part and an imaging part. Both parts are optimized to reduce the front size and weight of the system. In order to make the parallax sights, parallax angle was determined to be 8 degrees between two optical systems.
