Townhouse have been developed as alternative housing types for combining the characteristics of detached houses and high-rise apartments, Much research on townhouse have investigated physical environments of townhouse and provide a number of planning factors to be considered. However, these factors do not reflect the residents' experiences of the environments sufficiently. The aim of this research is to investigate residents' satisfactions in townhouse as an exploratory study which can be a basis for the improvement of residential environments in townhouse. First of all, we selected a target townhouse and conducted a field study to examine the existing state of the townhouse. Then a customized questionnaire was developed and distributed to residents in the townhouse for investigating their satisfactions on the residential environment. The questions included are divided into four categories; site environment, unit space, community area and housing management. Through the statistic analyses of the residents' responses, the residents' satisfactions of the residential environment were identified. Especially the residents' satisfaction on the community area, which revitalizes neighborhood relationships, is very high. They were also satisfied with the conditions of the sub-categories, 'a distinctive exterior' 'a private planning', 'outdoors' and 'landscapes', in townhouse. In conclusion, we suggested considerations for the improvement of the residential environments and the quality of life in townhouse.
the purpose of this study is to suggest objective basic daa for park management proposal through the quantitative analysis of users' behaviours and satisfaction for the actual conditions of management in Chonju neiborhood parks. For this, users' behaviors and socio-ecnomic characteristics have been anlyzed. Specificaly, it atempts to investigate users' anticipation and degree of satisfaction applied Expectancy Theory by Likert scale. And users' satisfaction for the actual conditions of management had been analyzed by using the multiple regression. Results of this study can be summarized as follow; From the aspect of utilization reality, the male usage was slightly higher than female usage, and the usage rate among the young and students such as high school students or university students also appeared slightly higher than the norm. Due to the fact, subject park had been neighborhood parks, walking usage was predominant, and the length of stay to be less than an hour. Generally, the values of users' post occupancy evaluation were lower than those of anticipated, in well known parks. In landscape satisfaction level, the parks with harmonious visual element had high landscape evaluation, and each category showed diversity depending on the park. Seasonableness, formation of physical elements, visual uniqueness, cozy atmosphere appeared as main explicatory variables having positive effects on the satisfaction level for the landscape. According to the multiple regression analysis, the major variables to the satisfaction for the actual condition of vegetation managements were harmony with facilities, recovery of artificial injury. In the park facilities and operation, the major variables related to the satisfaction were conditions of management of rest equip, facilities and guidance of use, observe the rules, respectively.
With the introduction of the 40 hours workweek system, an intensive discussion was made among relevant departments. Building facilities does not necessarily guarantee more leisure activities and higher satisfaction for the public. It is essential to draft at the trend of leisure policy in Japan and learn from the experiences to set the policy direction best fitting future changes in Korea, as Japan has gone through comprehensive changes ahead of us. With this understanding, this study analyzed key leisure policies of Japan and examined the trend of changes of time. The followings are the findings of the research. First, Japan's leisure policies could be categorized into five stages and six terms. Second, leisure policies in Japan are being established as a local welfare system, not in the context of industrial perspective, to help people in local community. This is to make voluntary move by eliminating the factors that restrict social demand with an effort to expand leisure time and to secure and enhance access to leisure space. Third, Neighborhood leisure space has taken the center stage, in an effort to seek solutions to the issues of improving space utilization, restoring local community and encouraging participation of local residents. The conclusion drawn from the research is as follows. It is required to recommend the use of the specific term 'leisure' for leisure policies in Korea and for leisure space policies in Korea that are now facing sociocultural challenges similar to the ones emerging in Japan, measures are required to improve physiological access of local residents including information promotion, lifetime education and relationships enhancement along with the establishment of neighborhood leisure space.
In this study, POE(Post Occupancy Evaluation) evaluation indexes were selected into six categories through the consideration of theories and prior research. Therefore, qualitative supply can be achieved through POE according to the aspect of residential environment after the quantitative supply of mixed-use apartment complex by the population concentration in Seoul due to industrialization and urbanization. As the evaluation elements, detailed survey contents were selected for livability, convenience, comfort, safety, economy, and sociality. Based on the survey contents, six elements were evaluated and analyzed using Data coding and Likert scale after surveying 12 complexes (Urban areas and non-urban areas) in Seoul. As a result of the study, six categories selected as the POE showed that importance of quality of life and safety was developed in high recognition according to high satisfaction with convenience and safety. Sociality showed the lowest satisfaction in the following order : livability, comfort, economy and sociality. Residents' sense of community, interaction with neighborhood, etc., showed low satisfaction, and it seems that it is necessary to improve and supplement the system for the development of mixed-use apartment complex in the future. The detailed characteristics of livability showed high satisfaction of the living room, the front door and the main room which are main uses of housing, and low satisfaction in storage size. The analysis of convenience is that convenient public transportation was the highest, and educational environment and additional facilities were the lowest, showing the advantages and disadvantages of location characteristics. As a result of the analysis of comfort, satisfaction with the landscape area was low and it seems that green space is needed for the development of mixed-use apartment complex in the future. Lastly, regarding the safety, the satisfaction of the access control, the location of security office, etc. were high, however separation of circulation was low. Therefore, it is necessary to clearly separate the circulation between the residence and other facilities in the mixed-use apartment complex.
The purpose of this study was to present a guideline for the construction of children park that can create a quality of dwelling and be easily approached and utilized by residents. In order to present a direction of planning, the investigator examined the actual state of children park in low-rise house residential area, and analyzed its general characteristics. And the discriminative characteristics according to the standpoints of planning of children park. The analytic standpoints were classified into the size and disposition of park, the nature of adjacent street and the utilization of park, and the satisfaction and requirement for the internal space of park. The guideline of planning of children park are as follow: (1) The disposition and size of children park: the children park must be disposed convenient use of all the residents. (2) The environment around including approaching streets and facilities around: residents' recognition and access in their everyday life must be considered in relation to the neighborhood streets and surrounding facilities. (3) The composition and utilization of internal space: the internal space must support all the activities of users, and reflect users' requirements in order to induce them to use it continuously.
The major objective of this study was to develop recommendations for improving the design of pergola facilities located in neighborhood parks. The study employed the following methods : Physical measures and questionnaires. Physical treasures were taken of certain environmental attributes such as pergola sizes, structures, materials, etc. Questionnaires were randomly distributed to pergola users on the same day on which physical measures were scheduled. All data were collected in 1994 during the season of pergola use, September 3 to October 9. The major findings are as follows; 1. Of the 508 respondents to the question about use motivations, approximately 32% were a shady place, 18% seating arrangements suitable for conversation, 15% unconsciously, 13% a lack of bench in the park, 9% good view, and 13% other. 2. Regression analysis indicated that the best predictors of pergola user' satisfaction were : harmony with surroundings, accessibility, aesthetics of pergolas and benches, function of benches, and climbing plants. 3. Pergola design needs to be developed because pergola users were less satisfied with their pergola than with the park.
The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic design elements for dwelling environment planning of downtown in Taegu.The evaluation of the dwelling environment should be approached from the satisfaction and the cognitive of the residents, that are based on their desire and various values on the conditions of residential area. This paper concerns the satisfaction and the congnitive image structure of the residents in the various dwelling types, from which design elements for dwelling environments can be derived. The results are as folIows: 1) The analysis on the satisfaction of dwell ins environment shows lots of displeasure about the lack of open-spaces and the housing low-quality, neighborhood in Mun-hwa, Korean style housing and the low-rise apartment areas. In order to make the variety types of dowelling in downtown district, the improvement of housing qualities and the expantion of the urban facilities for the open-spaces and communities are need. 2) The design elements of dwelling environments in downtown find out the important planning elements for urban design. The evaluation of the cognitive image structures about the safety and affection should be considered in design for urban dwelling areas.
Housing supply ratio in Ulsan area has soared up to 91% recently. Therefore, developing a successful marketing strategy is an essential part of apartment sales success in Ulsan area. The purpose of this study is identifying the status of satisfaction level, moving motivation, the level of housing choosing behavior, and housing needs of the apartments for making a marketing strategy. The survey uses questionnaires which are delivered to the 545 housewives who live in 20 pyoung or 30 pyoung apartment in Ulsan area. The research uses a survey questionnaire for gathering a set of statistically-reasonable number of data among one million population of Ulsan metropolitan area. The frequency test and F-test are used for the analysis of the results. The results of empirical analyses provide the following major findings: 1) housing satisfaction of Buk-ku residents is higher than that of the residents of the other area, 2) neighborhood environment improvement and physical environment improvement are important factors of housing moving motivations, 3) view and lighting are important requirements of the housing, 4) the level of housing choosing efforts are more active in the residents of Joong-ku and Dong-ku than those of Nam-ku and Buk-ku.
The purposes of this study were to examine the characteristics of friendship among the elderly, particularly the relationships between the functions of friendship, the degree of satisfaction with friendship, and subjective well-being. Written questionnaires completed by 244 the new-elderly(95men, mean age 60.02 years/ 149women, mean 62.04 years) were analyzed. As a result, the main findings of our study were: First, Among men, the duration of friendship was longer than among women. The most common initial acquaintance among men were co-workers, followed by schoolmates and old playmates, while friends made through leisure and volunteer activities or in the neighborhood were more common for women. Second, Factor analysis revealed the following two factors: 'trust and support', and 'companionship'. Among both men and women, the degree of satisfaction with friendship was positively correlated with subjective well-being, and the study suggested that the level of 'trust and support' influenced the degree of satisfaction with friendship. And expand the scale, because the future looked at the gender gap in the center is considered that there is a need for comparative studies specific age groups.
This study is aimed at grasping improvement factors of Cheonho Park, Gandaemae Park and Hunlyunwon Park as barrier free friendly parks. For this study, current status of parks, users' state and satisfaction were analyzed in October, 2014 and September, 2015. To detect current status, period of designing, whole size, facility pavement green space area, and main spaces were examined. As for BF status, mediation facilities, leading and guidance facilities, convenient facilities and BF pedestrial passage were analyzed. Also, It examined user behavior and satisfaction by accessibility, convenience and safety items. As a result of status analysis, three parks were designed in 1997~1998. The size of parks were $15,180m^2{\sim}26,697m^2$. As for mediation facilities, the slopes of walking-passage in Cheonho Park and Gandaemae Park were flat. The rate of leading-guidance facilities was 72.7%~93.4%. In the three parks, the effective width of safe pedestrian space within BF pedestrial passages was more than 1.8m. In Cheonho Park and Gandaemae Park, more than 50% of soil and urethane were used as paving materials. Users were the most satisfied with accessibilities in Cheonho Park due to flat-typed walking passages. In convenience, when it comes to using benches and pergolas, it showed significantly different satisfaction in every park. In safety, there were also considerable difference in every park. Overall, it was analysed that the satisfaction with information for safety and facilities was significantly low. Against this backdrop, this study suggests three considerations to recreate parks as barrier free friendly parks. 1) Flat-typed walking passages and enough parking areas near parks should be constructed. 2) Additional rest furniture for convenience should be installed and complemented. 3) Walking oriented-spatial safe facilities for safety should be differently supplemented.
