  • The proposed system in this paper is designed to provide users with a means of global location information using Orbcomm satellite communication and X.400 protocol. The system's two-way data transmission capabilities allow users to track mobile or fixed objects anywhere in the world via Internet. This study utilizes the X.400 protocol, and the SIP(Serial Interface Protocol) and self defined control protocol to implement data communication link in this paper. Data processor board connected to SC(Subscriber Communicator) is also designed and implemented to interface with GPS receiver. The experimental results of the proposed global position location system is evaluated through real-time experiments, and we have confirmed it works well according to the protocol designed in this paper.

  • In this paper, a technique for optimizing the sub-array system structure that can minimize the side lobe level of the phased-array antenna is proposed. Optimization of the proposed array antenna structure is to adjust the spacing between sub-arrays and sub-arrays by using a hexagonal array structure of one sub-array and a hexagonal sub-array for six hexagonal arrays, and thus the entire phased array antenna system of the radiation pattern was optimized. Compared to the 2-dimensional planar antenna system, the proposed technique maintains a gain of 24.3 dBi and a half-power beam-width of 8.46 degrees without change, and only reduces -3.4 dB and -6.5 dB in the x-axis and y-axis directions, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose the hierarchical network synchronization scheme that is backward compatible for the existing commercial system, efficient for total system performance, and whose hardware modification is minimized. This system performance is, the relationship among bandwidth efficiency, complexity and MODEM performance, and superiority of network system applicability. The proposed structure can remedy the high hardware complexity and the lower accuracy of network sychronization that the existing satellite communication terminal system in the star network based on TDM/MF-TDMA of DVB-S2/RCS standards has. Besides, It has high efficiency in view of cost and system performance if the system designed for satellite broadcast requires system upgrade. In the body section, its hardware complexity and system performance of the proposed algorithm is analysed theoretically and treated with the related parameters(symbol rate, spreading factor, etc.) and the BER performance of control channel through the computer simulation for its verification that it can be applied for communications system.

  • This paper focuses on the generation algorithm of BeiDou pseudorange correction (PRC) and simulation based performance verification for design of Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (DGNSS) reference station and integrity monitor (RSIM) in order to prepare for recapitalization of DGNSS. First of all, it discusses the International standard on DGNSS RSIM, based on the interface control document (ICD) for BeiDou, estimates the satellite position using satellite clock offset and user receiver clock offset, and the system time offset between Global Positioning System (GPS) and BeiDou. Using the performance verification platform interfaced with GNSS (GPS/BeiDou) simulator, it calculates the BeiDou pseudorange corrections , compares the results of position accuracy with GPS/DGPS. As the test results, this paper verified to meet the performance of position accuracy for DGNSS RSIM operation required on Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services (RTCM) standard.

  • In this paper, we proposed a meander sleeve monopole antenna for low earth orbit satellite communications. The antenna has broadband property with the planar monopole and ground of meander sleeve. Monopole and ground conductors of the antenna are on the same plane, and exited through coaxial cable feeding. In order to confirm the property of antenna parameters, it was used a commercial software, HFSS, For the antenna fabrication, a FR4 dielectric substrate has a dielectric constant of 4.4 was used. The size of the antenna was $600mm{\times}20mm{\times}1.6mm$. Frequency band of the fabricated antenna was 130MHz~151MHz, and the bandwidth was 20MHz. Measurement results of the fabricated antenna, the return loss is more than -10dB return loss in the band could be obtained. Radiation pattern has a maximum gain of 2.64dBi value.

  • Ionospheric scintillation induces a rapid change in the amplitude and phase of radio wave signals. This is due to irregularities of electron density in the F-region of the ionosphere. It reduces the accuracy of both pseudorange and carrier phase measurements in GPS/satellite based Augmentation system (SBAS) receivers, and can cause loss of lock on the satellite signal. Scintillation is not as strong at mid-latitude regions such that positioning is not affected as much. Severe effects of scintillation occur mainly in a band approximately 20 degrees on either side of the magnetic equator and sometimes in the polar and auroral regions. Most scintillation occurs for a few hours after sunset during the peak years of the solar cycle. This paper focuses on estimation of the effects of ionospheric scintillation on GPS and SBAS signals using a software receiver. Software receivers have the advantage of flexibility over conventional receivers in examining performance. PC based receivers are especially effective in studying errors such as multipath and ionospheric scintillation. This is because it is possible to analyze IF signal data stored in host PC by the various processing algorithms. A L1 C/A software GPS receiver was developed consisting of a RF front-end module and a signal processing program on the PC. The RF front-end module consists of a down converter and a general purpose device for acquiring data. The signal processing program written in MATLAB implements signal acquisition, tracking, and pseudorange measurements. The receiver achieves standalone positioning with accuracy between 5 and 10 meters in 2drms. Typical phase locked loop (PLL) designs of GPS/SBAS receivers enable them to handle moderate amounts of scintillation. So the effects of ionospheric scintillation was estimated on the performance of GPS L1 C/A and SBAS receivers in terms of degradation of PLL accuracy considering the effect of various noise sources such as thermal noise jitter, ionospheric phase jitter and dynamic stress error.

  • The T-DMB(Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) which was developed by the convergence of digital broadcasting technology and communication technology provides us with very good quality of music like CD, and provides TV services in a super express train like the KTX whose velocity is over 300 Km per hour. The T-DMB is diffusing toward the world as a technology which is be able to provide the various convergent services of broadcasting and communication through mobile phone, PDA, dedicated terminal, and so on. A business model needed for the diffusion of the T-DMB toward the world was established and utilized to expand the T-DMB into Vietnam in the paper. In addition, this paper describes not only some predicting methods for the technological valuation of the T-DMB Total Solution, but also a case study on the marketing related to establishing the T-DMB system in order to provide the paid services in Vietnam. Finally, A couple of business models needed to globally expand the T-DMB have been provided.

  • In this paper, we proceeded a study about the mobile software applications using smartphone technology. Firstly, we proposed a communication which a position data transmission technique using LED flashlight with built-in smartphone and we develop the application to perform a remote controller for beam-forming communication based on visible light associated with the position of Smartphone user. OOK modulation was applied for transmitting location data via LED backlight flash of smartphone and PD is used for detecting receiving light. In case of remote controller application which was controlled by WiFi IP-networking and it controls LED direction for beam-forming communication. These suggestion can be a good example for ubiquitous position recognition system using smart phone and software.

  • The wirebonding is a common interconnection technique for modern microwave devices because of rather simple and reliable processes involved. At millimeter-wave frequencies, however, the bondwire parasitics are significant and consequently limit the external performance of packaged devices. In this paper, we represent wideband characterization of multiple bondwires and ribbon in a frequency range from 20 to 35 GHz. From these results, the double bondwire shows very small insertion loss less than 0.55 dB up to 35 GHz and its performance is comparable to that of the ribbon in the millimeter-wave frequencies. Therefore, the wirebonding is very suitable for millimeter wave packaging in terms of performance and manufacturing cost.
