Study on the Coefficient of Consolidation of Marine Clay by Rowecell Consolidation Test (ROWECELL시험에 의한 해성점토의 압밀계수에 대한 연구)

  • It was achieved that Rowecell test for this undisturbed sample was picked by Block sampler($\phi$:250mm, L:500mm) and hydraulic piston sampler($\phi$:76mm, L:850mm) in the marine clay of YONGYUDO and YEONGJONGDO in this research. Ratio of coefficient of consolidation was analyzed through comparison with C$\_$h/ by CPTu and C$\_$v/ and C$\_$h/ by existent consolidation test. According to analysis, coefficient of consolidation of block sample is fairly greater than coefficient of consolidation of piston sample. And the bigger diameter of undisturbed sample, sample disturbance could know decreasing. Coefficient of consolidation by Rowecell test measured more greatly than coefficient of consolidation by existent consolidation test. Rowecell test could know decreasing consolidation rate because of smear effect by Mandrel injection. Also, C$\_$h/ by CPTu shows deviation by each analysis method, selection of suitable analysis method judged by important leading in the coefficient of consolidation.

Effects of Processing Methods and Variety of Rapeseed Meal on Ruminal and Post Ruminal Amino Acids Digestibility

  • The objective of this study was to determine the effects of processing method and rapeseed variety on ruminal and intestinal protein digestibility of rapeseed meal in steers. Intestinal amino acid digestibility was assessed with an in situ ruminal incubation and precision-fed rooster bioassay. In this experiment one traditional rapeseed meal sample (sample A, prepress extraction) and three double low rapeseed meal samples (sample B, prepress extraction, sample C, screw press and sample D, low temperature press) were placed in polyester bags(8 cm${\times}$12 cm) and suspended in the ventral rumen of steers for 16 h. The residues of in situ incubations were intubated to roosters. Total excreta were collected for 48 h after incubation and then desiccated and amino acid concentrations were determined. Results showed that in ruminal incubation the degradation rate of amino acid and crude protein was higher for traditional rapeseed meal sample A than for double low rapeseed meal sample B, but was much lower than for double low sample C and D. In the group of double low rapeseed meal samples, sample D processed by low temperature press had the highest degradation rate of amino acids in the rumen. For all amino acids, the digestibility of the residual protein as measured by the precision-fed rooster bioassay tended to be lower for sample B than for sample A, which had the same processing method with sample B, and in the group of double low rapeseed meals, sample B had similar digestibility of amino acid in residual protein to sample D and higher than that of sample C. However, although the total amino acid availability involving the digestibility of amino acids in the rumen and rooster bioassay of double low rapeseed meal sample D (low temperature press) was higher than those of the other three samples by 7 to 9 percent, there were no significant differences. Results indicated that processing method markedly affected ruminal and post ruminal amino acid digestibility of rapeseed meal when the temperature exceeded 110$^{\circ}C$. Rapeseed meal that had a high content of fiber was not suitable for dry heat treatment at higher temperatures or the amino acids digestibility in rumen and total availability of amino acids could be reduced. Results also suggested the variety of rapeseed meal had no significant effect on the digestibility and availability of amino acids.

The Increase of Seeds Germination in Albizzia julibrissin, Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Lespedeza cuneata by Microbial Treatment (미생물에 의한 자귀나무·참싸리·비수리 종자의 발아촉진)

  • Herbs and plants widely used for the ecological restoration were selected for germination rate analysis under treatment of microorganisms to determine ideal treatment conditions and medium for enhanced germination rate. Albizzia julibrissin, when submerged in a nutrient medium or distilled water, presented a decrease in germination period rather than increase in germination rate. When treated with microorganism culture solution (JM-2) for 24 hours, 90% germination was achieved in two days, which is sufficient evidence to conclude that such treatment accelerates the germination of Albizzia julibrissin. Germination period decreased for Lespedeza cyrtobotrya samples submerged in microorganism solution for 15 and 48 hours, however, increases in germination rates were not observed. Sample treated in the solution for 24 hours had increased germination rate and enhanced germination period. Microorganism solution treatment had a negative effect on germination for Lespedeza cuneata, unlike Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Albizzia julibrissin. Microorganism treated seeds of Lepsedeza cuneata had a lower germination rate than that of the control with no treatment. However, submerging treatments in a nutrient medium or distilled water for 24 to 48 hours were proven effective with higher germination rates than control sample with no treatment. The Effects of Haepyoyijintang on the Pulmonary Injury caused by $SO_2$ in Rats (해표이진탕(解表二陳湯)이 흰쥐의 $SO_2$에 의한 호흡기손상(呼吸器損傷)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This experiment was performed in order to study the effects of Haepyoyijintang on the pulmonary injury caused by $SO_2$. Healthy adult male rats weighting about 250g were divided into 4 groups- the Normal group, the Control group, the group of Haepyoyijintang administration for 5 days after $SO_2$ gas exposure (Sample I ), and the group of Haepyoyijintang administration for 10 days before and for 5 days after $SO_2$ gas exposure (SampleⅡ). The results were obtained as follows; 1. In the total number of leucocyte, Sample I and Sample II decreased significantly compared with Control group. 2. In the erythrocyte sedimentation rate, Sample I and Sample Ⅱ decreased significantly compared with Control group. 3. In the lung weight, Sample I and Sample II decreased significantly compared with Control group. 4. In the lung TBA level, only Sample II decreased significantly compared with Control group. 5. In the tracheal glycoprotein level, Sample I and Sample II decreased significantly compared with Control group. According to the above results, Haepyoyijintang has significant effects on the pulmonary injury caused by $SO_2$ in rats.

  • This experiment was performed in order to study the clinical effect of Sojadodamgangkitang on the pulmonary injury caused by $SO_2$. Healthy adult male rats weighing about 250g were divided into 4 groups-the Normal group, the Control group, the group of Sojadodamgangkitang administration for 5 days after $SO_2$ gas exposure(Sample I), and the group of Sojadodamgangkitang administration for 10 days before and for 5days after $SO_2$ gas exposure(Sample II).   • This paper show two different standardized test methods(Japanese Geotechnical Society; JGS 2003). One test is a "Test Method for Frost Heave Prediction Test, JGS 0171-2003", and the other test is a "Test Method for Frost Susceptibility, JGS 0172-2003". The purpose of this test is to obtain the freezing rate(freezing speed), frost heave ratio(heave to sample height), frost heave rate(heaving speed), and other parameters to be used for frost heave prediction and determine the frost susceptibility by freezing test with water intake. This method shall be used to predict the frost heave in frozen ground and evaluate the frost susceptibility of natural and replacement materials.

Variance estimation for distribution rate in stratified cluster sampling with missing values

  • Estimation of population proportion like the distribution rate of LED TV and the prevalence of a disease are often estimated based on survey sample data. Population proportion is generally considered as a special form of population mean. In complex sampling like stratified multistage sampling with unequal probability sampling, the denominator of mean may be random variable and it is estimated like ratio estimator. In this research, we examined the estimation of distribution rate based on stratified multistage sampling, and determined some numerical outcomes using stratified random sample data with about 25% of missing observations. In the data used for this research, the survey weight was determined by deterministic way. So, the weights are not random variable, and the population distribution rate and its variance estimator can be estimated like population mean estimation. When the weights are not random variable, if one estimates the variance of proportion estimator using ratio method, then the variances may be inflated. Therefore, in estimating variance for population proportion, we need to examine the structure of data and survey design before making any decision for estimation methods.

Changes in Rheological Properties of Neungee(Sarcodon aspratus) during Dehydration (능이버섯의 건조과정 중 물성의 변화)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the changes in physical properties of the Neungee (Sarcodon aspratus) during dehydration and rehydration. The drying of the sample was completed within 4 hours at 5$0^{\circ}C$ with the air velocity of 1.5 m/s. The reduction in the thickness of the sample were two-fold compared with those in the surface area of the sample. During the drying period, the values of compression distance, break down, deformation rate, distortion, alleviation rate and softness decreased, whereas the values of hardness and alleviation time increased. However, the values of surrender were not changed. The color of the sample during the drying was changed to black with decreased L, a, and b values. The rehydration rate increased rapidly during first 60 min and remained constant after that. The recovery ratio after rehydration of the dried sample was about 30% and the rheological properties recovered about 44%.

Some Insights into the Basic QA/QC for the Greenhouse Gas Analysis: Methane and Carbon Dioxide (온실가스 기기분석의 정도관리를 위한 고려사항 연구 - CH4과 CO2를 중심으로 -)

  • In order to investigate the analytical uncertainties associated with sampling and analysis of major greenhouse gaseous pollutants(carbon dioxide and methane), we attempted to quantify their adsorptive loss due to the contact with the container wall(such as Tedlar bag and vial). Using the GC/FID method, some basic experimental parameters(such as reproducibility and method detection limit) have been evaluated as part of the essential QA/QC The reproducibilities of carbon dioxide and methane were estimated as 2.02 and 0.2%, respectively. In addition, method detection limits were measured as 0.61 and 0.06 ng, respectively. A test of sample loss rate has also been made for Tedlar bag and vial by assessing the absolute amount of sample loss on the wall. By transferring the samples contained in Tedlar bag to various sizes of Tedlar bags, we measured differences in the absolute loss quantity due to such transfer. In addition, we also examined such loss mechanism as a function of elapsed time and light penetration rate for vial. As results, carbon dioxide and methane have shown about 2% of sample loss due to such contact. It is also noticed that the amount of loss with vial surface is lower than that of Tedlar bag. Therefore, field collection of greenhouse gases using various container types should be made more cautiously to minimize the possibility of sample loss and bias related to such loss.

Estimation using informative sampling technique when response rate follows exponential function of variable of interest (응답률이 관심변수의 지수함수를 따를 경우 정보적 표본설계 기법을 이용한 모수추정)

  • A stratified sampling method is generally used with a sample selected using the same sample weight in each stratum in order to improve the accuracy of the sampling survey estimation. However, the weight should be adjusted to reflect the response rate if the response rate is affected by the value of the variable of interest. It may be also more effective to adjust the weights by subdividing the stratum rather than using the same weight if the variable of interest has a linear relationship with the continuous auxiliary variables. In this study, we propose a method to increase the accuracy of estimation using an informative sampling design technique when the response rate is an exponential function of the variable of interest and the variable of interest has a linear relationship with the auxiliary variable. Simulation results show the superiority of the proposed method.
