M-Zn (M = Sb, V, Nb) substituted M-type strontium hexaferrites were prepared by a ceramic method. The phase composition, morphology and magnetic properties were studied by x-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. Saturation magnetization increases with a substitution up to 75.0 emu/g (2.5 % higher compared to unsubstituted hexaferrite) and then decreases with a further substitution. A coercive field of substituted hexaferrite powders with highest saturation magnetization is more than 3 kOe. Substituted strontium hexaferrite powders prepared in this work are a rare example of high $M_S$ compositions without doping rare-earth elements and would be a promising candidate for a permanent magnet application.
Asian Dust samples were collected in the ambient air of Seosan, Western Korea, in spring of 2000∼2002. PM (Particulate Matter) concentrations were 199,8$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ in the first Asian Dust period (March, 23∼24) and 249.4$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ in the second period (April, 7∼9) of 2000. Compared with the concentrations in 2000, relatively low PM concentrations, 157.3$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ were measured in the periods of 2001 (April, 24∼26). Especially high PM concentration 953.1$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ were measured in the periods of 2002 (March, 21∼22). The variation in the PM concentration was observed according to the time for the formation of Asian dust. Considering the particle size distributions of Asian dust, a high concentration was also observed in coarse particle region. The results of backward trajectory model showed the route of the dust storms from northern area of Mongol and Gobi desert. Various mycelia grown from fungal spores were observed on the PM samples and identified at the genus level. All the genera from the three years (2000∼2002), Fusarium, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Basipetospora, Epicoccum and Monotospora are hyphomycetes in the division Fungi imperfecti (Deuteromycota). Fungal composition on the dust sample in March, 2000 was similar to the result of March, 2002. However, the result of April, 2001 was obviously different from the other dust periods. The variations of fungal compositions between the dust periods could be caused by the trajectories of the dust storms.
In this present study, we have synthesized Fe-containing AC(activated carbon)/$TiO_2$ composites with titanium (VI) n-butoxide (TNB) as a titanium source to Fe treated AC through an impregnation method. The result of the textural surface properties demonstrates that there is a slight decrease in the BET surface area of composite samples with an increase of the amount of Fe treated. The surface properties of scanning electron microscope (SEM) presented a characterization of a porous texture on the Fe-containing AC/$TiO_2$ composites and homogenous compositions for Fe and titanium dioxide distributed on the sample surfaces. Fe compound peaks and a titanium dioxide structure were observed in the X-ray diffraction patterns for the Fe-containing AC/$TiO_2$ composites. The results of chemical elemental composition for the Fe-containing AC/$TiO_2$ composites showed that most of the spectra for these samples gave stronger peaks for C, O, treated Fe components and Ti metal than that of any other elements. From the photo degradation results for the piggery waste, the Fe-containing AC/$TiO_2$ composites showed an excellent degradation activity for the chemical oxygen demand (COD) due to a photocatalysis of the supported $TiO_2$, radical reaction by Fe species and the adsorptivity and absorptivity of porous carbon.

The determination of the boron isotopic ratio in solutions was achieved by means of a solid state track detector by using an alpha track. The neutron flux was optimized by using a Cd-foil to find the optimum conditions for counting the number of alpha tracks on the selected solid detector caused by the (n, $\alpha$) nuclear reaction of boron. The home-made multi-dot detector plate was utilized in this study to increase the reproducibility of the measurement by uniformly drying the boron solution within the marked circle area on the detector plate. The experimental results of this study verified that the $^{11}B/^{10}B $ isotopic ratio can be measured by observing the number of alpha tracks for different concentrated standard solutions with various isotopic compositions. This technique was applied to the determination of $^{10}B$ enrichment factor in a biological sample for a boron neutron capture therapy.
In recent years, it has been tried to develop the efficacy and bioactivity of Calcium Phosphate cements(CPC) as injectable bone substitute (IBS) by reinforcing them through varying the amount in its compositions and relative concentrations or adding other additives. In this study, the biocompatibility of are inforced Calcium Phosphate-Calcium Sulfate injectable bone substitute (IBS)containing poly ($\varepsilon$-caprolactone)PCL microspheres was evaluated which consisted of solution chitosan and Na-citrate as liquid phase and tetra calcium phosphate (TTCP), dicalciumphosphate anhydrous (DCPA) powder as the solid phase. The in vitrobiocompatibility of the IBS was done using MTT assay and Cellular adhesion and spreading studies. The in vitro experiments with simulated body fluid (SBF) confirmed the formation of apatite on sample surface after 7 and 14 days of incubation in SBF. SEM images for one cell morphologies showed that the cellular attachment was good. MG-63 cells were found to maintain their phenotype on samples and SEM micrograph confirmed that cellular attachment was well. In vitro cytotoxicity tests by an extract dilution method showed that the IBS was cytocompatible for fibroblast L-929.
Pyroelectric properties of rhombohedral $Pb(ZrxTi_1-x)O_3ceramics$ with various Zr/Ti ratios of 84/16, 87/13, 90/10, and 93/7 are investigated using dynamic method. The response characteristics of PZT samples are examined by considering frequency dispersion. Since the reorientation of the grain does not the influence on the increase of frequency at low frequency (2~200Hz), the maximum pyroelectric response can be obtained with the change of spontaneous polarization. However, the pyroelectric response of PZT samples could be reduced as the spontaneous polarization decreases due to the restrain of the reorientation of the grain with the increasing of requency at high frequency (200~2000Hz). We have obtained the good pyroelectric response in the PZT sample having 84/16 Zr/Ti ratio, then the pyroelectric coefficient (${\gamma}$) and the figure of merit (FV) were $17.3nC/\textrm{cm}^2K$ and 2.28$\times$10-11Ccm/J, respectively. The noise equivalent power (NEP), the detectivity (D*) were 1.21$\times$10-7W/Hz$\frac{1}{2}$ and 8.26$\times$106cmHz$\frac{1}{2}$/W, respectively.
Chemical compositions of petals of Chrysanthemum spp. were determined to renew its interest as a food material. The moisture contents of wild Chrysanthemum boreale and holticulturized Chrysanthemum morifolium were 11.7% and 11.0%. The proximate chemical ompositions were 6.1% and 11.7% in protein, 3.7% and 5.2% in ash, 11.1% and 12.8% in reducing sugar, of C. boreale and C. morifolium, respectively. Free sugars were mainly composed of fructose, glucose and sucrose. In fatty acid composition, the ratios of saturated to unsaturated fatty acids were 1.2:1 and 3.0:1, respectively. The amino acids determined were found 0.18 and 0.26 in the ratio of essential to total amino acids in each sample. Major elements of Chrysanthemum petals were Ca, K, Fe, Mg and Na, but the contents of Ca and Fe were more than twice higher in C. boreale than c. morifolium, Major volatile flavor components were 28.22% of epi-bicyclophellandrene and 24.55% of camphor in C. boreale, and 14.24% of 4-methyl-1-(10methylethyl)-3-cyclhexen-1-ol, 10.74% of camphor and 7.64% of 1,8-cineol in C. morifolium.
The purpore of this study was to elucidate the nutritional significance of the fruit-vegetable mixed juice during storage and distribution by examining the chemical composition of the mixed Juice for storage. The fruit-vegetable mixed Juices were sueriliged at 95$^{\circ}C$ for 30, 70, 100 seconds and the results of the changes in vitamin C contents, colors, total carotenoid contents, total aerobic counts and sensory evaluation of the mixed Juice were as follows: Vitamin C contents were drastically decreased at 7 day's storage and were not significantly different between the mixed Juices at p< 0.05 level after 7 day's storage. The longer the sterilization time and storage period of the mixed Juice was the higher changes in color was. The color changes in the sterilized samples were higher in order of 100, 70 and 30 seconds. Total carotenoid contents were slightly decreased according to storage period but were not affected by sterilization time. Total aerobic counts were 1.1 $\times$ 101 cfu/ml before sterilization, but it was negative after sterilization at 95t regardless of sterilization time. Sensory qualities such as color, flavor, taste and total acceptability of the mixed juice tended to be decreased by the Increased storage period and sterilization time. Especially, the sterilized sample for 100 seconds showed lots of changes In color.
Sasang Constitutional Medicine (SCM) is based on the theory of Sasang (Taeyang, Soyang, Taeum, Soeum) in Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM). It is hypothesized that all of the things in the material world can be divided into the four categories of SCM. We made a new attempt to combine nutritive components, and patterns in physical activities with SCM. At first, we hypothetically divided the nutrients into 4 compartments according to SCM theory, and human body composition as well. These factors could be basically related to Sasangin Exercise Treatment (SET). Therefore, we applied sasangin theory to exercise prescription. As a research method, we hypothesized that human beings' types can be distinguished by mind and body. Mind was focused on exercise psychological aspects, and body also handled by nutrients, body compositions, body shapes, and exercise physiological aspects. For application of sasang theory to the exercise prescriptions, Taeumin as a sample sasangin was selected in this study. We concluded that in perspective of general traits, Taeumin have to reduce their carbohydrate intake volume, but greatly increase their intake of vitamins, minerals, and water in daily diet. They are also recommended exercises that can increase cardiorespiratory function and make them sweat, like endurance running, hiking, swimming, cycling, etc.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to differentiate between women with three perimenstrual symptom severity patterns : premenstrual syndrome(PMS), premenstrual magnification(PMM), and low symptom(LS), and to explore the related dietary factors to premenstrual symptoms. Method: Women were asked to keep a diary record of perimenstrual symptoms and food intake for 50 days. Result: Symptom patterns were defined for 26 among 38 women ; Eight(21.1%) demonstrated a PMS pattern, three(7.9%) demonstrated a PMM pattern, and fifteen(39.5%) exhibited a LS pattern. There were significant differences in symptom scores during the premenstrual phase($x^2=19.30$, p=.000), menstrual phase($x^2=13.32$, p=.001), and post menstrual phase($x^2=9.93$, p=.007) for three groups. Protein, vit E, vit C, niacin, folic acid, and phosphorus in the premenstrual phase, and energy, and vit B6 in the menstrual period were significantly different between the three groups. Among dietary compositions, amino acids, lipids, fatty acids, saturated fatty acids, natrium, vit B6, niacin, and vit E were negatively related to PMS symptoms. Conclusion: Pattern of perimenstrual symptoms should be differentiated for individualized PMS management. As a more efficient diet assessment for PMS women, randomized nutritional analysis during the 3 phases of the menstrual cycle should be done and a replication study is necessary with a larger sample.
