This study has been aimed to determine the ecological factors with relationship to the Jongkok production in view of fermentation technology by means of some strains, Asp. kawachii, which is now preserved by the author and the following factors are included during the study; inorganic salts, nitrogen, sugar, water contents and temperature. The results, are as follows: (a) Sugar among other above-mentioned factors is increasingly affecting the number of the short type of conidiophore on culture medium and the conidiophore is increased by direct ratio until glucose concentration of 50%, at which concentration is mostly effective for the short type of conidiophore, while other factors did not affect on it. (b) Until glucose concentration of 50% sugar component of culture medium is favorable for the spore formation of Asp. kawachii by direct ratio. And peptone or asparagine on nitrogen medium, calcium-phosphate among other inorganic salts, wheat bran and rice branare also favorable, but other factors rientioned earlier show no relationship with the spore formation. Sugar, however, also related with the spore color clearness of crimson and light brown, and spore color is mostly clear at the point of glucose concentration until 50%. And asparagine on nitrogen medium, calcium phosphate among other inorganic salts, rice bran did all affect on the color clearness, while other factors did not concern with color clearness. (c) Water, sugar and temperature have related with the acid formation which is promoted, by direct ratio at the point of water-saturated condition and glucose concentration of 50%, while temperature at $25^{\circ}C$favorably affected on the acid formation which is increased by inverse ratio at the temperature$25^{\circ}C$ to $45^{\circ}C$ And pH did not relate with the acid formation. (d) Cylindrical plate method devised by the author is mostly favorable for the preservation and isolation of culture, compared with the traditional slant medium method.

Alkaline hydrolysis to improve the hand of PET/acetate union fabric was studied in relation to skin saponification and retarding effect of salts on the alkaline hydrolysis of cellulose acetate fiber, accelerating effect of salts on the alkaline hydrolysis of PET fiber, and changes of total hand value(T.H.V) of PET/acetate union fabric treated with alkali/salt solution. It was found that the rate of saponification of acetate was delayed by the addition of salts such as LiCl, NaCl and CH$_{3}$COONa into NaOH solution below 10 minutes. The rate of shrinkage of acetate fabric treated with 5g/l NaOH solution at 9$0^{\circ}C$ and 60 minutes showed 20 % but it was decreased 8% by. the addition of 120g/l Concentration of inorganic salts. We could know that the rate of alkaline hydrolysis of filament yarn treated with alkali solution at 9$0^{\circ}C$ and 60 minutes was delayed about 3 % using 2,000T/M of hard twist yarn, especially acetate filament treated with alkali solution at 9$0^{\circ}C$ and 10 minutes was delayed about 10%. T.H.V. of PET/acetate union fabric was increased from 2.77 to 3.04~3.18 by the addition of salts into alkali solution.

Weissella confusa 31, an isolate from human feces, possesses desirable properties as a probiotic strain, including bile salt resistance. W. confusa 31 is not inhibited by bile salts up to 0.3% concentration. Proteins affected by bile salts (0.05%) were examined by 2-D gel electrophoresis. Our proteomic analyses revealed that the intensities of 29 spots were changed, where 17 increased (including 2 spots observed only under the bile salts stress conditions) and 12 decreased. Proteins were identified by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Proteins increased in the band intensities included adenylate kinase (12.75-fold increase), Clp-like ATP-dependent protease (11.91-fold), 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (10.35-fold), and HSP 70 (5.07-fold). Some of the increased or decreased proteins are also known to be involved in other types of stress responses.
Premicellar precipitation, resolubilization and luminescing behaviors of $RuL_3^{2+}$ (L = bpy, phen, $Me_2bpy$) in aqueous alkylsulfate and sulfonate solutions were studied. Addition of the anionic surfactants to $RuL_3\;^{2+}$ solutions caused initial precipitation which was redissolved by further addition of the surfactants. The apparent solubility products $K_{sp}$'s of the precipitates were evaluated assuming 1:2 salt formation. The values were smaller as the ligand is more hydrophobic and the length of hydrocarbon chain of the surfactant is longer. The $K_{sp}$ values for L = bpy were constant over wide surfactant concentration range. However, those for L = $Me_2bpy$ and also for phen, but to less extent, increased with the surfactant concentration. The resolubilization of 1:2 salts was followed by red-shift of emission band and extensive emission quenching above critical concentration of the surfactants. The critical concentration was lower for more hydrophobic surfactant. For L = $Me_2bpy$, the blue-shifted emission band with enhanced emission intensity was observed in intermediate surfactant concentration region. The high ionic strength of media prevented the precipitate formation, but facilitated the red-shift of the emission bands. The results support that the precipitate is dissolved by accretion of surfactant anions to the salts to form water-soluble surfactant-rich $RuL_3$-surfactant anionic species. These species appeared to aggregate cooperatively to produce large clusters which exhibited the red-shifted emission.
Ion-selective electrode responsive to the thiocynate ion prepared by using the quaternary ammonium salts as a active material and PVC as a membrane matrix. The effect of chemical structure and composition of active material, and the membrane thickness on the linear response. the detection limit, and Nernstian slope of the electrode studied. Under the above optimum conditions of membrane, the effect of pH and the selectivity coefficients to various interfering anions were compared and investigated. It was concluded that the functions of thiocynate ion-selective electrode(ISE) were closely related to the chemical structure of the quaternary ammonium salts. The linear response, and the detection limit of the electrode potential increased with the increase of the carbon chain length of the alkyl group in the quaternary ammonium salts in the ascending order of Aliquat 336T, TOAT, TDAT, and TDDAT. The optimum membrane thickness was 0.3mm. The electrode characteristics was better with the decrease of the concentration of active material, and the best concentration was 3 weight percent. The membrane potential was independent of the pH variation in the region from pH 2 to 12. The order of the selectivity coefficients is as follows:Cl $O_4$$^{[-10]}$ > $I^{[-10]}$ >N $O_3$$^{[-10]}$ >B $r^{[-10]}$ > $F^{[-10]}$ >C $l^{[-10]}$ >O $A_{c}$$^{[-10]}$ 〓S $O_4$$^{2-}$.
The $\pi$-complex membranes of poly(styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) of two silver salts of $AgBF_4$ and $AgCF_3SO_3$ were prepared and tested for the separation of the propylene/propane mixtures. The Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra of these complexes showed that the silver salts were dissolved in SEBS up to a silver mole fraction of 0.14, due to $\pi$-complexation between the aromatic C=C bonds of styrene blocks and silver ions. Above this solubility limit, ion pairs and high-order ionic aggregates began to form, so that silver salts were distributed unselectively in both the EB and PS blocks. The domain size of the PS blocks was enlarged up to this critical concentration with increasing silver concentration without structural transitions, as confirmed by small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). These structural properties of the SEBS/silver salt complexes may explain the lower separation properties for propylene/propane mixtures compared to poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene)(SBS)/silver salt complex membranes.
Pretreatment system of desalination process using seawater reverse osmosis(SWRO) membrane is the most critical step in order to prevent membrane fouling. One of the methods is coagulation-UF membrane process. Coagulation-UF membrane systems have been shown to be very efficient in removing turbidity and non-soluble and colloidal organics contained in the source water for SWRO pretreatment. Ferric salt coagulants are commonly applied in coagulation-UF process for pretreatment of SWRO process. But aluminum salts have not been applied in coagulation-UF pretreatment of SWRO process due to the SWRO membrane fouling by residual aluminum. This study was carried out to see the effect of residual matal salt on SWRO membrane followed by coagulation-UF pretreatment process. Experimental results showed that increased residual aluminum salts by coagulation-UF pretreatment process by using alum lead to the decreased SWRO membrane salt rejection and flux. As the salt rejection and flux of SWRO membrane decreased, the concentration of silica and residual aluminum decreased. However, when adjusting coagulation pH for coagulation-UF pretreatment process, the residual aluminum salt concentration was decreased and SWRO membrane flux was increased.
Effects of vitamins and inorganic salts on the mycelial growth and fruit-body formation of Flammulina velutipes were investigated. Thiamine was most effective on the mycelial growth and fruit-body formation, and its optimum concentration was$50{\mu}g%$. The mycelial growth and fruit-body formation were enhanced by the addition of $KH_{2}PO_{4}\:and\:MgSO_{4}$ at the concentration of 0.2 and 0.02% respectively, but other inorganic salts were ineffective for mycelial growth and fruit-body formation.

ED method is employed to effectively remove the organic acid salts in actual PDO fermentation broth. The lower electrical potential is selected to avoid the serious membrane fouling so as to ensure a stable and durative desalination process. Under the selected operation conditions, about 90% of organic acids salts are removed from PDO fermentation broth successfully by ED process. To reduce the loss of PDO product due to the diffusion, the operation time should be considered carefully. And based on mass balance equation and irreversible thermodynamics approach, a mathematical model is developed to describe the desalination process of an aqueous solution containing neutral solute by ED method. While the influence of concentration polarization is reflected by decreasing the conductivity of membrane, the model is verified well to describe the ED processes under varied operation conditions. Through the model, ED process of actual PDO fermentation broth is simulated to get a suitable scope of initial concentration in concentrated compartment.

Novel microgels of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM)-co-methacrylic acid (MAA) (NIPAM-co-MAA) with different contents of N,N-methylene bis acrylamide (MBA) were prepared by emulsion polymerization technique and were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta potential measurement. Effect of pH, temperature and different salts concentration on the microgel particles was investigated. DLS results have shown that the hydrodynamic radius of the microgel increased upon increasing pH and decreased upon increasing temperature. The swelling/deswelling behaviors as determined by DLS showed the ionic repulsions of the carboxyl group of the methacrylic acid and hydrophobic interaction of NIPAM. The effect of various salts on volume phase transition temperature (VPTT) was also investigated. Upon increasing salt concentration, VPTT became broad and shifted to a lower temperature. Electrophoretic mobility measurements showed an increase with increasing pH and temperature at a constant ionic strength.
