  • The purpose of this study was to validate knowledge outcomes included Nursing Outcomes Classification(NOC) developed by Johnson and Maas at the University of Iowa. A sample of 71 nurse experts working in university affiliated hospitals participated in this study. They were asked to rate indicators that examplified the outcomes on a scale of 1(indicator is not all characteristic) to 5(indicator is very characteristic). A questionnaire with an adaptation of Fehring's methodology was used to establish the content validity of outcomes. The results were as follow: 1. All indicators were considered to be 'supporting' and no indicators were considered to be 'nonsupporting'. 2. 'Knowledge: Treatment Regimen' attained and OCV score of 0.816 and was the highest OCV score among outcomes. 3. • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the general characteristics of manufacturing workplaces and the characteristics of safety and health organizations, and to determine the impact of safety and health-related communication within these organizations mediated by supervisory safety and health management personnel. Methods: This study is based on the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's 2018 Occupational Safety and Health data targeting 1,486 manufacturing sites. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA, and mediator variable regression analysis using SPSS 25.0. Results: The average score on communication levels related to safety and health was 11.20 out of 15. The average score of the safety and health management level was 31.04 out of 40. As a result of mediation regression analysis, it was found that safety and health-related communication had an effect on the safety and health management level (𝛽=0.434), and the number of safety and health supervisors was found to mediate the effect of this variable (𝛽=0.069). Conclusions: The level of safety and health-related communication affects the level of health and safety management, and the number of supervisors mediates this influence. Therefore, the role of the supervisor is important in safety and health communication. It is expected that the level of safety and health management can be improved through management and supervisors.

  • Anomaly detection in human movements can improve safety in indoor workplaces. In this paper, we design a framework for detecting anomalous trajectories of humans in indoor spaces based on a variational autoencoder (VAE) with Bi-LSTM layers. First, the VAE is trained to capture the latent representation of normal trajectories. Then the abnormality of a new trajectory is checked using the trained VAE. In this step, the anomaly score of the trajectory is determined using the trajectory reconstruction error through the VAE. If the anomaly score exceeds a threshold, the trajectory is detected as an anomaly. To select the anomaly threshold, a new metric called D-score is proposed, which measures the difference between recall and precision. The anomaly threshold is selected according to the minimum value of the D-score on the validation set. The MIT Badge dataset, which is a real trajectory dataset of workers in indoor space, is used to evaluate the proposed framework. The experiment results show that our framework effectively identifies abnormal trajectories with 81.22% in terms of the F1-score.

  • This study was performed to investigate the dietary habits, body satisfaction and nutritional knowledge according to body image of middle school girl students (n = 284). The subjects were classified as lean, normal and fat groups according to body image. The weight, body mass index (BMI) and the score of body image were significantly higher in the students who recognized their body image as 'fat'. The satisfaction of present body image was significantly lower in students who recognized their body image as 'lean'. The interest in weight control and experience of weight control were significantly higher in students who recognized their body image as 'fat'. The necessity of nutrition education was higher in all groups (lean 67.2%, normal 59.0% and fat 52.8%). The products used to feel sweetened were sweetened ice (68.7%), processed milk (68.3%), confectionery (62.3%), carbonated beverage (55.3%), fermented milk (38.0%) and none (6.0%). The frequency of consumption of fruit juices and fried food was significantly higher in 'normal' compared to 'fat'. There was no significant difference in the frequency of consumption of snack and nutritional knowledge among the three groups. In the multiple regression analysis, the score of body image was negatively associated with the frequency of snack consumption in the 'lean'. The score of body image was positively associated with identification of nutrition labels and an interest in weight control but was negatively associated with satisfaction of present body image in the 'fat'. Based on these results, we conclude that, the middle school girl students need correct recognition of body image and continuous and practical nutrition education in order to maintain healthy dietary habits.

  • The purpose of this study was to monitor changes in the quality of ginseng and predict its shelf-life. As the storage period of ginseng increased, some quality indicators, such as water-soluble pectin (WSP), CDTA-soluble pectin (CSP), cellulose, weight loss, and microbial growth increased, while others (Na2CO3-soluble pectin/NSP, hemicellulose, starch, and firmness) decreased. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed using the quality attribute data and the principal component 1 (PC1) scores extracted from the PCA results were applied to the multivariate analysis. The reaction rate at different temperatures and the temperature dependence of the reaction rate were determined using kinetic and Arrhenius models, respectively. Among the kinetic models, zeroth-order models with cellulose and a PC1 score provided an adequate fit for reaction rate estimation. Hence, the prediction model was constructed by applying the cellulose and PC1 scores to the zeroth-order kinetic and Arrhenius models. The prediction model with PC1 score showed higher R2 values (0.877-0.919) than those of cellulose (0.797-0.863), indicating that multivariate analysis using PC1 score is more accurate for the shelf-life prediction of ginseng. The predicted shelf-life using the multivariate accelerated shelf-life test at 5, 20, and 35℃ was 40, 16, and 7 days, respectively.

  • Even though, the recent management innovation techniques: The 'Six-Sigma' and the 'BSC (Balanced Score Card)' are introduced to many different companies and are used very effectively. Based on the company's substantial and unique characteristics, the quality and the strategies on management are showing the reliability limits in applications in the company. Therefore, the Integrated Management System is presenting a model for stable application of the activity in the Six-Sigma based on the theoretical notions of the BSC.

  • The objective of this study is to compare and analyze the industrial injury-values of all the industries through yearly accident rate and frequency rate based on the governmental documentation of industrial injuries. The samples for this study are chosen from the companies with less than 200 employees under charge of the Kangnung Ministry of Labor during the period of 1995-97. Safe-T-Score is used for statistic control on the qualitative comparison of the present and the past industrial injury-rates. In the comparison of the past and the present industrial injury-rate by means of Safe-T-Score, this study shows that there does not exist any remarkable improvement, whereas the document of the Ministry of labor reports that the rate is decreasing greatly. Therefore, this study proposes some solutions to reduce industrial disasters and points out the necessity of more practical and effective methods to analyze the industrial disaster.
