Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve: Exploring Moral Identity as a Moderator Across CSR Authenticity, Consumer Admiration, and Engagement in the Fashion Industry

  • A rapidly shifting, hyper-sensitive modern fashion industry, coupled with an increasingly developing global environmental concern, has seen to an ever-imperative role for corporate social responsibility (CSR) to play in the successful operation of fashion companies. This study primarily investigates effective measures for successful CSR implementation in both corporate and consumer domains, looking at Patagonia, an exemplar company with an environmental mission, to understand the central contributions of active consumer engagement to the success of CSR initiatives. We explore consumer admiration as a concept necessary to elevate CSR practices from image maintenance to genuine engagement and advocacy, and how such admiration could be cultivated on the consumer-side, investigating perceived CSR authenticity and corporate self-sacrifice as primary determinants. Specifically, we speculate the asymmetric role of consumers' moral identity, revealing that moral identity symbolization positively interacts with both determinants while negatively moderating the relationship of these intentions and consumer admiration. We derive our analysis from diverse international and Korean data, concluding with theoretical and managerial implications for domestic and international companies in pursuit of environmental CSR campaigns that bridge consumer and company, as well as limitations and future research directions.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to understand the factors that influence the purchasing behavior of NFT collectibles consumers, using the value-based acceptance model (VAM). As the use of NFTs is predicted to become more widespread in the near future, it is important to explore how these consumers make purchasing decisions. Design/methodology/approach This study employed text analysis and in-depth interviews to identify the factors of benefits and sacrifices perceived by consumers. Based on the results of the exploratory study, a research model and hypotheses were established. To test the hypotheses, an online survey was conducted, and the data was analyzed using a structural equation model. Findings The major findings of this study showed that perceived benefit factors had a significant positive impact on consumers' perceived value of NFT collectibles, whereas perceived sacrifice factors did not have a significant effect on perceived value. Also, when consumers' social needs were met, their perceived value was highest. Lastly, the effect of perceived value on purchase intention was not affected by the level of psychological ownership.

Renal Sympathetic Denervation Induces Acute Myocardial Inflammation through Activation of Caspase-1 and Interleukin-1β (교감신경절제술(RDN) 후 caspase-1과 interleukin-1β 활성화로 인해 유발된 염증성 급성심근손상)

  • Efferent and afferent sympathetic nerves are closely related to the development of hypertension and heart failure. Catheter-based renal sympathetic denervation (RDN) is implemented as a strategy to treat resistant hypertension. We investigated whether RDN procedure causes inflammatory damage on myocardium in the early phase of sympathetic denervation. Twenty-five female swine were divided into 3 groups: normal control (Normal, n=5), sham-operated control (Sham, n=5), and RDN groups (RDN, n=15). The RDN group was further subdivided into 3 subgroups according to the time of sacrifice: immediately (RDN-0, n=5), 1 week (RDN-1, n=5), and 2 weeks (RDN-2, n=5) after RDN. There were no significant changes in the clinical parameters between the normal control and sham-operated group using contrast-media. In the myocardium, inflammatory cytokines, $IL-1{\beta}$ and $TNF-{\alpha}$ increased at the first week, and then decreased at the second week after RDN. Anti-inflammatory cytokine, IL-10 increased immediately, and then decreased at the second week after RDN. Caspase-1 activity and apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase recruitment domain (ASC) expression increased immediately after RDN until the second week. However, nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain, leucine rich repeat and pyrin domain containing protein 3 (NLRP3) expression did not show any significant differences among the groups. The RDN can cause acute myocardial inflammation through activation of caspase-1 and $IL-1{\beta}$. We should pay attention to protecting against early inflammatory myocardial damage after RDN.

Melodrama, the Paradox of Modern Imagination Coordinating Moral Norms and Emotions -Based on the Developmental Approach (멜로드라마, 도덕규범과 감정을 조율하는 근대적 상상력의 역설 -발생론적 접근을 중심으로)

  • Since the birth of melodrama in the early Enlightenment era, it has flowed through various cultures and media. In order to grasp the principle of differentiation of melodrama and the direction of its change, a developmental approach to the formation process of melodrama is necessary. In this regard, this paper examines the formation process of modern melodrama and its aesthetic features around the time of the French Revolution. The modern melodrama was formed in the period between the end of the 18th century and the start of the 19th century. It was born at the intersectional point of the contradictions of the modern imagination and the political paradox of the French Revolution, which demanded an autonomous citizenship but did not recognize a woman as a citizen. The aesthetic of women's sacrifice and tears reproduced in the modern melodrama is a political aspiration to restore a corrupt society by glamorizing a woman as a moral icon. This was an icon to save a society under divide and crisis and a coordination of emotions to conceal sexist violence in the politics of the exclusion of women. The aesthetic of women's sacrifice and tears reproduced in modern melodrama has consistently been considered under negative evaluation such as a play of moral hypocrisy and vulgar drama. However, the academic interest in melodrama in the 1970s has been amplified due to the "Sirk-melo" which is a transition to the new aesthetic of women's sacrifice and tears, encompassing not only women, but also races and classes. In modern society, entering the era of uncertainty, where various social problems, national disasters, and global disasters have become commonplace, 'the aesthetic of women's sacrifice and tears' are shifting from gender differences to various victim narratives. Reviewing new theoretical trends and changes of recent melodrama as well as analyzing specific works are left as follow-up tasks.Since the birth of the melodrama in the early Enlightenment era, it has flowed through various cultures and media. The basis of trust in relationships: Indigenous psychological analysis of adolescents and their parents (청소년과 부모의 인간관계를 통해 본 신뢰의식: 토착심리학적 접근)

  • This study examines the basis of trust in relationships by adolescents and their parents using the indigenous psychological approach. Using the indigenous methodology, adolescents were asked the reasons why they trusted their mother, father, friends, and teachers. Parents were asked why they trusted their children, spouse and their children's teachers. A total of 1,737 participants completed an open-ended survey: 579 adolescents (274 middle school and 305 high school students) and their parents (579 fathers) and (579 mothers). The results indicate that adolescents trust their parents because of their sacrifice, followed by consanguinity (i.e., blood relationship), respect, their trust in me, dependability, and their advice and counseling. The reasons why adolescents trust their teachers is because of the academic guidance they provide, unconditional trust of teachers, their concern and care, respect for teachers, advice and counseling they provide, they are like parents, and because of their sacrifice for the students. The reasons for trusting their friends are as follows: Dependability, closeness, unconditional trust of friends, their understanding of me, and their emotional support. The reasons why parents trust their children are: Children's sincerity, honesty, consanguinity, parents' expectation and communication with the children, children's obedience, and since they are diligent in their schoolwork. The reasons for trusting one's spouse are reported to be sincerity, their sacrifice for the family, honesty, unconditional trust of a spouse, and because of mutual support. The reasons why parents trust their children's teachers are reported as follows: Unconditional trust of teachers, their sacrifice for the students, and their sincerity. There were no significant differences across the type of school and academic grades in terms of trust of parents. However, middle school students are more likely to trust their teachers, and high school students are more likely trust their friends. The male students rather than female students and those students with higher academic grades are more likely to trust their parents, friends, and teachers. For parents, there were no significant differences across age, sex, and educational status concerning the trust of their children, spouse, and children's teachers. There was a positive correlations between parents' trust of their spouse and children and their children's trust of their parents. There was also a positive correlations of mothers' trust of children's teachers and the children's trust of their teachers.

Factors Affecting the Turnover Intentions of Small and Medium Construction IT Workers (중소건설 IT종사자의 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • It has been widely spread that the acquisition and retention of the core personnel is very important for improving firms' competitiveness. Many companies have made a lot of efforts to keep these core personnel, job embeddedness and work satisfaction are important factors which make effects on workers turnover. Prior research applying for many different industries do not show the consistent research results. There is no empirical research applying for construction IT industry which information technology has been playing more important role because of u-city etc. Therefore, in this research job embeddedness and work satisfaction are to be measured and the relationship with turnover intentions are to be investigated focusing on small and medium construction IT workers. The sub-constructs of job embeddedness are fit, links and sacrifice, and the sub-constructs of work satisfaction are career satisfaction and job satisfaction. It is empirically tested how these factors can have effects on the turnover intentions. Field surveys targeted to construction IT workers were done and finally 177 survey questionnaires were used to analyze. Research results show that if the sacrifice, career satisfaction and job satisfaction of small and medium construction IT workers are higher, turnover intentions will be lower. On the other hand, 2 hypotheses are rejected that if the fit and links of these workers are higher, turnover intentions will be lower. These research results clarified the factors affecting the turnover intentions of small and medium construction IT workers and can be utilized how turnover intentions can be decreased practically.

  • Mobile wallet that can keep coupons and membership cards for mobile is one of rapidly growing services due to its usability and financial benefit. However, in spite of its rapid growth, the increase of users who do not use continuously it is an important consideration to service providers for making a profit. This study aims to test the effects of factors affecting the continuous use intention of mobile wallet based on VAM (Value-based Adoption Model) which can analyse them in both benefit and sacrifice aspects, so as to suggest considerations to increase the use period of mobile wallet for service providers. The research findings supported the hypotheses regarding to the effects of usefulness, value-expression, perceived security and enjoyment in the benefit aspect and technicality in the sacrifice aspect on perceived value. In addition, the causal path from perceived value to continuous use intention was significant. The study results are expected to be used in marketing or service improvement for short-term users by taking account of emotional factors as well as functional factors.

The Effect of Private Guards' Job Embeddedness on Dual Commitment (민간경비원의 직무착근도가 이중몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was focused on the relationship between private guards' job embeddedness and dual commitment. In this study, job embeddedness is selected as an independent variable and dual commitment is selected as a dependent variable one. job embeddedness was divided into three sub-factors such as "fit", "links", and "sacrifice", and dual commitment is again composed with organizational commitment, and career commitment. Moreover sex, age, academic background, service period, and income were selected as a control variable. To test the hypotheses, survey data from private guards in Kyungpook are collected and analyzed. Principal component method is used to see which items cluster together in each factor and to calculate factor scores. Multiple regression analysis identifies several factors which have significant effects on dual commitment. Key finding can be summarized as follow. Fist, the factor of "fit" have significant effects on organizational commitment, and career commitment. Second, the factor of "links" have significant effects on organizational commitment, and career commitment. Third the factor of "sacrifice" have significant effects on organizational commitment, and career commitment. Finally, when all the variables with significant effects are included in the final model, "links" disappear, while "fit" and "sacrifice" remain statistically significant. Based on these finding, this study suggests some policy issues to promote private guards' dual commitment.

A correlation between comprehensive neck dissection and increased uptake around the sternoclavicular joint on post-operative 18F-FDG PET/CT (경부절제술과 술후 시행된 PET/CT상의 흉쇄관절 섭취 증가의 상관관계 분석)

  • Background/Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the changes of uptake around the sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) according to 18F-FDG PET images in patients with head and neck cancer who underwent neck dissection. Materials & Methods: Retrospectively, the medical records of patients who received selective or comprehensive neck dissection were reviewed. Preoperative and 1-year postoperative 18F-FDG PET images, if available, were analyzed by nuclear medicine physicians in both qualitative and quantitative manners. Correlation between the changes of uptake around SCJ and perioperative data were statistically analyzed. Results: Thirty-seven patients satisfying the inclusion criteria were enrolled. Seven patients with increased uptake around SCJ on 1-year postoperative 18F-FDG PET showed a correlation with radical or comprehensive neck dissection, accessory nerve sacrifice, and high postoperative SUVmax. When 20 patients with increased uptake around SCJ according to quantitative measurement were compared with other patients without increased uptake, no parameter was significantly different, except postoperative SUVmax. Bivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the clinical symptom (shoulder or sternal pain) was significantly correlated with the extent of neck dissection (OR 0.227, CI 0.053-0.966, p=0.045) and spinal accessory nerve sacrifice (OR 13.500, CI 1.189-153.331, p=0.036). Conclusions: Increased uptake around SCJ on 1-year postoperative 18 F-FDG PET was correlated with either the radical or comprehensive procedure, as well as with accessory nerve sacrifice. This suggests that subjective analysis of 18F-FDG PET can be used to detect subclinical shoulder instability.

Mediating effect of job embeddedness between positive psychological capital and organizational citizenship behavior (긍정심리자본과 조직시민행동간 직무배태성의 매개효과)

  • The paper investigates a mediating effect of job embeddedness in the influence of positive psychological capital on organizational citizenship behavior(OCB) for members of medical institutions. The members include medical doctors, nurses, medical technicians, health administrative staffs, and other medical service staffs of hospitals in Daejeon City, Chungcheongnam-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, and Sejong City. Using 453 questionnaires for hypothesis tests, the main results are as follows. Firstly, positive psychological capital exerts a significantly positive effect on OCB. Secondly, the fit and links of job embeddedness turn out to have a significant and positive effect on OCB, whereas the sacrifice does not have statistically significant effect on it. Thirdly, while the fit and links of job embeddedness appear to have mediating effects between positive psychological capital and OCB, the sacrifice of it does not exert a mediating effect. The findings thus suggest that we need a new approach to the role of job embeddedness in the positive impacts of positive psychological capital on OCB through the fit and links of job embeddedness. Furthermore, organizations need to focus on key elements in the application of job embeddedness.
