  • This paper describes a study on the expert system based process planning of the block division process in shipbuilding. The prototype system developed deterines the block division line of the midship of crude-oil tanker. Case-based reasoning (CBR) approach relying on previous similar cases to solve the problem is applied instead of rule-based reasoning (RBR). Similar cases are retrieved from case base according to the similarity metrics between input problem and cases. The retrieved case with the highest priority is then adapted to fit to the input problem buy adaptation rules. The adapted solution is proposed as the division line for the input problem.

  • The shipbuilding industry is one of the domains which need an effective computer application. Particularly the productivity of process planning of a shipbuilding for crude -oil tanker can be greatly enhanced by introducing CAPP(Computer Aied Process Planning). In this paper we describe a prototype expert system which enables block division process planning in shipbuilding. The system determines block division lines of the midship sections of oiltanker. Case-based reasoning(CBR) approach is applied for this purpose instead of rule-based one.

  • We have implemented an inductive learning system that learns PROSPECTOR-rule-style classification rules from sets of examples. In our a approach, a genetic algorithm is used in which a population consists of rule-sets and rule-sets generate offspring through the exchange of rules relying on genetic operators such as crossover, mutation, and inversion operators. In this paper, we describe our learning environment centering on the syntactic structure and meaning of classification rules, the structure of a population, and the implementation of genetic operators. We also present a method to evaluate the performance of rules and a heuristic approach to generate rules, which are developed to implement mutation operators more efficiently. Moreover, a method to construct a classification system using multiple learned rule-sets to enhance the performance of a classification system is also explained. The performance of our learning system is compared with other learning algorithms, such as neural networks and decision tree algorithms, using various data sets.

  • As a general rule for evaluating dependability of a system, reliability is commonly considered which barely rays attention to the system behavior, however the estimation is based on the assumption of a fault-frost system, which may be impracticable and inaccurate especially for complicated system. This paper introduces a security and dependability integrated approach to analyze the availability of a fault-active system both from dependability and security points of view. Two fault modes involved are discussed about the impairment to the system reliance. The approach can be well applied to estimate and quantify the attribute of system robustness with the help of Markov chain process, which is good at solving status related problem. The comparison result between dual system and IEC61850-based almighty backup system is shown to sup-port the suggested approach.

  • Implementation of AGVS (Automated Guided Vehicle System) in CIMS (Computer Integrated Manufacturing System) generally requires substantial study to optimize design and performance of the guide path. Traditional mathematical approaches have been used with limited success to analyze AGVS. These approaches, however, do not provide a practical opportunity to use by path designers. This paper presents a new approach based on Jules in designing and assessing AGV path to have better design of the closed-loop layout. A framework for the approach is proposed and a case study is reported to demonstrate the framework. Deletion of seldom used paths and addition of bypasses to solve the congestion problem are conducted automatically through simulation expefiments. To visualize die results a graphic control program is developed and integrated with AutoMod/AutoGram simulation package.

  • This paper presents a new analytical approach for designing multiloop PI controllers for disturbance rejection in multivariable processes with time delay. The proposed method is based on IMC-PID design approach. To overcome a sluggish load response by dominant pole in the process, the IMC filter is modified to compensate the dominant pole effect. Based on the modified IMC filter, an analytical tuning rule for multiloop PI controller is driven by extending the generalized IMC-PID method for single input/single output (SISO) systems [1] to multi input/multi output (MIMO) systems. Simulation results show that the proposed method gives a satisfactory load performance as well as servo performance in the multiloop system.

  • This paper proposes an ant-based routing algorithm, Ant System-Routing in wireless Senor Networks(AS-RSN), for wireless sensor networks. Using a transition rule in Ant System, sensors can spread data traffic over the whole network to achieve energy balance, and consequently, maximize the lifetime of sensor networks. The transition rule advances one of the original Ant System by re-defining link cost which is a metric devised to consider energy-sufficiency as well as energy-efficiency. This metric gives rise to the design of the AS-RSN algorithm devised to balance the data traffic of sensor networks in a decentralized manner and consequently prolong the lifetime of the networks. Therefore, AS-RSN is scalable in the number of sensors and also robust to the variations in the dynamics of event generation. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by comparing three existing routing algorithms: Direct Communication Approach, Minimum Transmission Energy, and Self-Organized Routing and find that energy balance should be considered to extend lifetime of sensor network and increase robustness of sensor network for diverse event generation patterns.

An Efficient Algorithm for Mining Frequent Closed Itemsets Using Transaction Link Structure (트랜잭션 연결 구조를 이용한 빈발 Closed 항목집합 마이닝 알고리즘)

  • Data mining is the exploration and analysis of huge amounts of data to discover meaningful patterns. One of the most important data mining problems is association rule mining. Recent studies of mining association rules have proposed a closure mechanism. It is no longer necessary to mine the set of all of the frequent itemsets and their association rules. Rather, it is sufficient to mine the frequent closed itemsets and their corresponding rules. In the past, a number of algorithms for mining frequent closed itemsets have been based on items. In this paper, we use the transaction itself for mining frequent closed itemsets. An efficient algorithm is proposed that is based on a link structure between transactions. Our experimental results show that our algorithm is faster than previously proposed methods. Furthermore, our approach is significantly more efficient for dense databases.

Uncertain Rule-based Fuzzy Technique: Nonsingleton Fuzzy Logic System for Corrupted Time Series Analysis

  • In this paper, we present the modeling of time series data which are corrupted by noise via nonsingleton fuzzy logic system. Nonsingleton fuzzy logic system (NFLS) is useful in cases where the available data are corrupted by noise. NFLS is a fuzzy system whose inputs are modeled as fuzzy number. The abilities of NFLS to approximate arbitrary functions, and to effectively deal with noise and uncertainty, are used to analyze corrupted time series data. In the simulation results, we compare the results of the NFLS approach with the results of using only a traditional fuzzy logic system.

  • An FLNN-based neural network controller is applied to precise positioning of XY table with friction as the extension study of [11]. The neural network identifies the frictional farces of the table. Its weight adaptation rule, named the reinforcement adaptive learning rule, is derived from the Lyapunov stability theory. The experimental results with 2-DOF XY table verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. It is also expected that the proposed control approach is applicable to a wide class of mechanical systems.
