콘크리트 공극구조 분석을 위한 화상분석결과의 변동성 분석 (Variation of Image Analysis Results for Determining the Characteristics of the Air-Void System on Hardened Concrete)

  • 최근 국내 콘크리트포장의 동결융해 파손에 대한 사례들이 주기적으로 보고가 되고 있으며, 이에 공기량 기준과 더불어 간격계수에 대한 기준마련 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 간격계수를 산정하기 위한 실험방법은 국내에 규정되어 있지 않아 ASTM C 457기준을 따라야 하며, 특히 이 실험결과 분석 시 연구자의 주관적 판단에 기인하는 경우가 많아 이에 대한 철저한 보정작업이 수반되어야 한다. 콘크리트의 공극구조 특성을 분석하기 위해 사용되고 있는 화상분석프로그램은 색상의 구분을 통해 공극을 인식하는데, 분석 시 사용되어지는 pixel intensity values에 따라 분석결과는 크게 변할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 pixel intensity values의 적정범위를 산정하기 위해서, pixel intensity values 변화에 따라 측정된 공극수와 연구자들이 측정한 공극수를 비교하였으며, 이를 통해 pixel intensity values의 적정 범위를 결정하였다. 또한 결정된 pixel intensity values를 이용하여, 8가지 콘크리트 혼합물에 대한 콘크리트 공극구조 특성을 분석하였다. 연구자들이 공극수를 직접 측정한 round robin test 결과, 사람에 따른 공극 인식정도가 약 10% 정도로 변동될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 pixel intensity values의 적정 범위가 약 80~90 정도로 나타났다. 8가지 콘크리트 혼합물에 대한 화상분석결과, 전반적으로 AE제 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 전체 공기량은 증가하고 간격계수는 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으나, 일부 혼합물에서 공기량은 크게 변동하지 않은 가운데 간격계수가 AE제 증가에 따라 감소하는 추이를 나타내었다. 이는 추가된 AE제에 의해 발생된 미세한 크기의 연행공극이 전체 공기량에 미치는 영향보다 간격계수에 미치는 영향이 더 크기 때문이다. 또한 동일한 시편에서 절단면 위치에 따른 간격계수의 편차는 약 30~100${\mu}m$ 정도를 나타내었다. 이는 2차원 분석의 한계로 인해 발생된 편차인 것으로 사료되며, 시편절단면 위치에 따른 변동성 분석을 위한 추가적인 연구가 수행되어야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • 고슴도치의(Erinaceus koneanus)췌강 각 부위별에 출현하는 glucagon(A)세포,insulin(B)세포, somatostatin(D)세포 및 pancreatic polypeptide(PP)세포 등 4종의 내분비세포의 출현빈도, 분포상태, 모양 및 크기 등을 관찰하고자 췌장을 비장부와 십이지장부로 구분하고 이를 각각 근위부, 중간부 및 원위부로 세분한 후 면역세포화학적 방법을 시도하여 광학현미경하에서 검경하였던 바 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. Glucagon(A)세포의 크기는13 $\mu$ m x 9.5 $\mu$ m였고 그 모양은 원형, 난원형 및 추체형을 띠고 있었으며 췌도의 주변부와 외분비 실질사이에 분포하고 있었다. A세의 출현빈도는 비장부의 모든 부의에서 24.5%-30.5%, 십이지장부의 원위부에서 30.1%로 관찰되었으나 십이지장부의 근위부와 중간부에서는 2.6%-5.2%로 관찰되었다. Insulin(B)세포의 크기는 11.6$\mu$m x 9.4$\mu$m로서 원형 또는 난원형을 띠었고 췌도내에 균등하게 분포하고 있었으며, 비장부의 모든 부위와 십이지장의 원위부에서는 63.5%-68.9%, 십이지장부의 근위부와 중간부에서는 35.9%-55.6%로 출현하였다. Somatostatin(D)세포는 크기가 12.6$\mu$m x 9.1 $\mu$m로서 주변부와 외분비 실질사에 나타났으며 세포의 출현빈도는 비장부와 십이장부의 모든 부위에서 2.6%-5.9%로서 소수 관찰되었다. Pancreatic polypeptide(PP)세포는 크기가 12.8$\mu$ m x 8.5 $\mu$m였고 세포의 모양은 원형, 난원형 및 추체형 등 다양하였으며 췌도의 주변부와 외분비실질간에 주로 분포하고 있었다. PP세포의 출편빈도는 십이지장부의 근위부와 중간부에서는 각각 42.5%, 55.4%로서 관찰된 반면 비장부의 모든 부위와 십이지장부의 원위부에서는 0.5%-2%로서 소수 출현되었다.

Corrosion Characteristics of Cell-Covered Ternary Ti-Nb-Ta Alloy for Biomaterials

  • Ti and Ti-alloys have good biocompatibility, appropriate mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance. However, the widely used Ti-6Al-4V is found to release toxic ions (Al and V) into the body, leading to undesirable long-term effects. Ti-6Al-4V has much higher elastic modulus (100 GPa) than cortical bone (20 GPa). Therefore, titanium alloys with low elastic modulus have been developed as biomaterials to minimize stress shielding. The electrochemical behavior of surface-modified and MC3T3-E1 cell-cultured Ti-30(Nb,Ta) alloys with low elastic modulus have been investigated using various electrochemical methods. Surfaces of test samples were treated as follows: $0.3{\mu}m$ polished; $25{\mu}m$, $50{\mu}m$ and $125{\mu}m$ sandblasted. Specimen surfaces were cultured with MC3T3-E1 cells for 2 days. Average surface roughness ($R_a$) and morphology of specimens were determined using a surface profilometer, OM, and FE-SEM. Corrosion behavior was investigated using a potentiostat(EG&G PARSTAT 2273), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was performed (10 mHz to 100 kHz) in 0.9% NaCl solution at $36.5{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. The microstructures of the Ti-30(Ta,Nb) alloys had a needle-like appearance. The $R_a$ of polished Ti-30Ta and Ti-30Nb alloys was lower than that of the sandblasted Ti alloy. Cultured cells displayed round shapes. For polished alloy samples, cells were well-cultured on all surfaces compared to sandblasted alloy samples. In sandblasted and cell-cultured Ti-30(Nb,Ta) alloy, the pitting potential decreased and passive current density increased as $R_a$ increased. Anodic polarization curves of cell-cultured Ti alloys showed unstable behavior in the passive region compared to non-cell-cultured alloys. From impedance tests of sandblasted and cell-cultured alloys, the polarization resistance decreased as $R_a$ increased, whereas, $R_a$ for cell-cultured Ti alloys increased compared to non-cell-cultured Ti alloys.

자동 영상분석 계기를 이용한 골 유도재생능력의 분석에 관한 조직계측학적 연구 (Study on the histomorphometry of guided bone regeneration using automated image analysis system)

  • The assessment of alveolar bone changes on dental radiographs to indicate progression of periodontal diseases or healing response to therapy is routine procedure. However, the diagnostic accuracy in detecting small alveolar bone changes is very limited. Recently, guided bone regeneration therapy is popular, but the quantification of new bone is somewhat difficult with conventional evaluation method. To quantificate the amount of new bone, various evaluating methods have been introduced including histomorphometry, radiomorphometry, biochemical analysis, X-ray probe microanalysis, scanning electron microscope backscatter method. In this study, guided bone regeneration using resorbable membrane with & without PDGF-BB is quatificated through histomorphmetry to evaluate the efficacy of histomorphometric analysis. 4 beagle dogs and 8 Sprague-Dawley rats were selected as experimental animals. In beagle dog experiment, $4{\times}4mm$ Class II defects were created in maxillary both second premolars, and biodegradable membrane containing PDGF-BB(experimental group) were covered over one defect, and same membrane without PDGF-BB(control group) were covered over the other defect. At 2 weeks, 5 weeks after surgery, each beagle dogs were sacrificed, and the tissues were treated by undecalcified fixation. In Sprague-Dawley rat experiment, 5mm round defect were created in temporal bone, the same membranes were covered on the defects. At 1 week, 2 weeks after surgery, each rats were sacrificed, and undecalcified fixation were taken. After grinding tissue specimen, we analyse them histomorphometrically using image analysis system. In beagle dog 2 weeks specimens, new bone formation area were $0.03123mm^2$ in experimental group,and $0.03012mm^2$ in control group. At 5 weeks specimens, $0.15324mm^2$ in experimental group, and $0.09123mm^2$ in control group. In Sprague-Dawley rat specimens, new bone fomation area were $0.20448mm^2$ in 1 week experimental group, $0.03604mm^2$ in 1 week control group. At 2 weeks specimens, $0.46349mm^2$ in experimental group, $0.17741mm^2$ in control group. The results indicated that histomorphometric analysis of new bone formation using image analysis system is very effective quantification method to evaluate the efficacy of treatment modalities.

한국인에서 처음 분리된 Chlamydia pneumoniae (The First Isolation of Chalamydia pneumoniae from a Korean Patient)

  • 연구배경 : C pneumoniae는 상하기도 감염을 일으키는 주요균으로, 균의 임상검체로부터의 분리는 균이 가진 몇가지 특성으로 매우 어려운 것으로 보고되었다. 최근 연구자들은 급성 인두염으로 내원한 22세 여자환자에서 채취한 비인두 스왑으로부터 국내 최초로 C pneumoniae를 분리, 배양하는데 성공하였다. 방 법 : Hep-2 세포주를 24시간 배양한 뒤, 환자로부터 얻은 비인두 스왑 검체를 넣어, 900g에서 한시간 동안 원심분리한 뒤, 72시간 동안 배양하였다. 본 환자의 검체는 8대째 계대배양에서 처음으로 봉입체가 관찰되었고, 이를 통정하기 위해 종특이 직접면역형광 검사와 종특이 PCR을 시행하였다. 그 밖에 전자현미경 소견도 관찰하였다. 결 과 : 종특이 면역형광염색과 PCR은 모두 C. pneumoniae에 합당한 소견을 보여, 본 분리 균주가 C. pneumoniae임을 알 수 있었다. 전자현미경 소견은 서양의 표준 균주가 배모양입에 비해, 일본 균주과 유사한 원형을 나타내었다. 결 론 : 국내 최초로 연구자들은 22세 여자 급성인두염 환자로부터, C. pneumoniae 분리에 성공하였다. 형태학적으로 일본 균주와 같은 원형임은 서양의 보고와는 다르다. 향후 본 균주는 국내 C. pneumoniae 다양한 연구에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

폐암 치험 73례: Alveolar cell carcinoma 를 중심으로 (Primary Carcinoma of the Lung with Emphasis on Alveolar Cell Carcinoma)

  • During the period of 4 years from August 1975 to August 1979 one hundred and forty seven cases of lung cancer were seen at Paik Foundation Hospital in Seoul, Korea. Among these 147 cases, 104 patients had primary carcinoma of the lung and the remainder was metastatic carcinoma to the lung. Among these 104 primary carcinoma patients, 73 cases were proven histologically as primary carcinoma of the lung. There were three cases of alveolar cell carcinoma [Table 1 ]. This clinical observation is based on those 73 cases including three case reports of the alveolar cell carcinoma. 1. Peak incidence was observed in the 5th decade of life. Male to female ratio was 2 to 1 [Fig. 1]. 2. Pathological classifications were as follows: epidermoid carcinoma, 24 cases [32.9%]; undifferentiated carcinoma, 20 cases [27.4%]; adenocarcinoma, 15 cases [20.5%]; bronchioloalveolar carcinoma [5.5%] and positive cytology, 10 cases [13.7%] [Fig. 2]. 3. Evidence of inoperability was observed in 55 patients [75% of the 73 cases] [Table 3]. 4. Among those 73 cases, operability was evaluated in 18 patients or 25%. One patient refused operation and 17 patients [23.6%] were explored. In 11 [15%] out of 17 patients, thoracotomies were performed. Six cases were pneumonectomies and 5 cases were lobectomies or bilobectomies [Fig. 3]. 5. First case of alveolar cell carcinoma was a 46 year-old housewife complaining of cough and hemoptysis for one year. The plain chest X-ray and bronchogram showed characteristic pictures as Figures 4 and 5. A pneumonectomy was carried out. Histologically, a beautiful alveolar carcinoma consisted of the characteristic tall columnar epithelial cells, which were lining the alveolar spaces as seen in Figures 6, 7, 8, and 20. 6. In the second case of 41 year old male, predominant clinical feature was single, well defined mass in the right lower lobe [Fig. 10 and 11] on chest X-ray. Bilobectomized specimen showed fragile, soft and hard tissue containing mucoid secretions and focal yellowish necrosis with pigmentation on cut surface [Fig. 12]. Slides showed tumor cells lined up along the alveolar septa with papillary projections [Fig. 13 and 14]. 7. Third case of alveolar cell carcinoma was a 50-year-old housewife with hemoptysis. An outstanding clinical picture was a round to lobulated mass in the right upper lobe [Fig. 16]. She is living now, 2 years and 1 month post-operatively, but has arrived at terminal stage with military nodular disseminations to the contralateral lung [Fig. 19].

가토 두개골 결손 모델에서 실크단백과 나노하이드록시아파타이트, 옥수수 녹말 복합물을 이용한 골 이식재 개발 (The Effect of Silk Fibroin/Nano-hydroxyapatite/Corn Starch Composite Porous Scaffold on Bone Regeneration in the Rabbit Calvarial Defect Model)

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the capability of bone formation with silk fibroin/nano-hydroxyapatite/corn starch composite scaffold as a bone defect replacement matrix when grafted in a calvarial bone defect of rabbits $in$ $vivo$. Methods: Ten New Zealand white rabbits were used for this study and bilateral round-shaped defects were formed in the parietal bone (diameter: 8.0 mm). The silk fibroin 10% nano-hydroxyapatite/30% corn starch/60% composite scaffold was grafted into the right parietal bone (experimental group). The left side (control group) was grafted with a nano-hydroxyapatite (30%)/corn starch (70%) scaffold. The animals were sacrificed at 4 weeks and 8 weeks. A micro-computerized tomography (${\mu}CT$) of each specimen was taken. Subsequently, the specimens were decalcified and stained with Masson's trichrome for histological and histomorphometric analysis. Results: The average ${\mu}CT$ and histomorphometric measures of bone formation were higher in the control group than in the experimental group at 4 weeks and 8 weeks after surgery though not statistically significant ($P$ >0.05). Conclusion: The rabbit calvarial defect was not successfully repaired by silk fibroin/nano-hydroxyapatite/corn starch composite scaffold and may have been due to an inflammatory reaction caused by silk powder. In the future, the development of composite bone graft material based on various components should be performed with caution.

상악골에 발생한 화골성 섬유종의 증례보고 및 문헌고찰 (A CASE REPORT AND RIVIEW OF LITERATURE ON OSSIFYING FIBROMA IN MAXILLA)

  • 화골섬유종은 비교적 천천히 증식하는 종양으로 발견전 몇년간은 나타나지 않는다. 악골에서 화골섬유종의 잘 경계되어진 성질은 완전한 제거가 용이하여 이로인한 치료결과도 양호하다. 그러나 때때로 유년기 하악에서 이 종양의 골격적 양상을 볼 수 있다. 그러한 경우 종양의 침윤적인 성장 때문에 건강한 조직을 포함한 절제가 적용된다. 본 증례의 환자는 34세의 여성으로 약 두달전 우측 안모의 점진적인 팽윤을 인지하였으며 상악우측 구치부의 간헐적인 동통을 호소하였고 종물은 상악결절부위 및 우측 상악동의 전측방벽까지 팽윤되어 있었다. 방사선적 조사에서 우측 상악동의 후측방벽과 전방벽 그리고 우측 치조돌기와 경구개 까지의 파괴와 함께 다수의 치밀한 구형의 석회화물질을 함유한 종물이 관찰되었다. 종물은 최근의 빠른 침윤성 성장을 고려하여 부분적 상악골 절제술로 제거되었으며 6개월간 술후검사에서 환자는 특이한 술후 이상을 보이지 않았다.

인장시험에 의한 낚시의 변형과 파단하중 (The Deformation and Breaking Load of the Fishing Hook by the Tensile Test)

  • 연근해 어업용 낚시 6가지형에 대하여 만능실험기로 인장속도를 290mm/min와 780mm/min로 하여 실험한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 낚시의 직경은 d, 미늘 기부에서 허리굽이까지의 거리를 w라 하면 낚시의 파단하중은 $B={\alpha}\;wd^2+\beta$ (단, B는 kg, w와 d는 mm)로 나타내며, 인장연도가 290mm/min 일 때의 $\alpha,\;\beta$는 둥근형 낚시 $SR_{p}-F_{1}B,\;SR_{p}-F_{1}S$$\alpha_{s}=0.5,\;\beta_{s}=1.6$, 모난형 낚시 $SA_{a}-F_{1}S,\;SA_{a}-F_{1}S_k,\;LA_{a}-F_{1}S_{k}$$\alpha_{s}=1.1,\;\beta_{s}=2.0$긴 낚시 $LA_{p}-F_{1}S$$\alpha_{s}=0.4,\;\beta_{s}=1.5$정도이다. 2) 인장속도가 780mm/min 일 때 윗식에서 $\alpha,\;\beta$는 둥근형 낚시는 $\alpha_{f}=0.4,\;\beta_{f}=1.4$모난형 낚시는 $\alpha_{f}=1.0$ 일본산은 $\beta_{f}=0.9$, 국산은 $\beta_{f}=-2.5$ 긴 낚시는 $\alpha_{=}0.6,\;\beta_{f}=0.4$ 정도이다. 3) 낚시의 파단변형률은 $40\sim60\%$ 정도이며, 인장속도가 빠를 때의 변형률은 느릴 때에의 $95\%$ 정도이나, 빠를 때의 파단하중은 느릴 때의 $80\%$ 정도이다. 4) 낚시가 파단되는 부위는 인장속도에 관계없이 거의 모두 허리굽이 부분이며 꼭지 기부에서 파단점까지의 거리는 낚시 길이와 거의 같다.

차폐막을 이용한 치주조직 및 골조직 유도재생술의 실패요인에 대한 고찰 (The factors related with the failure in GBR and GTR technique)

  • Using barrier membrane, guided bone regeneration(GBR) and guided tissue regeneration(GTR) of periodontal tissue are now widely studied and good results were reported. In bone regeneration, not all cases gained good results and in some cases using GTR, bone were less regenerated than that of control. The purpose of this study is to search for the method to improve the success rate of GBR and GTR by examination of the cause of the failure. For these study, rats and beagle dogs were used. In rat study, 5mm diameter round hole was made on parietal bone of the rat and 10mm diameter of bioresorbable membrane was placed on the bone defects and sutured. In 1 ,2, 4 weeks later, the rats were sacrificed and Masson-Trichrome staining was done and inspected under light microscope for guided bone regeneration. In dog study, $3{\times}4mm^2$ Grade III furcation defect was made at the 3rd and 1th premolar on mandible of 6 beagle dogs. The defects were covered by bioresorbable membrane extending 2-3mm from the defect margin. The membrane was sutured and buccal flap was covered the defect perfectly. In 2, 4. 8 weeks later. the animals were sacrificed and undecalcified specimens were made and stained by multiple staining method. In rats. there was much amount of new bone formation at 2 weeks. and in 4 weeks specimen, bony defect was perfectly dosed and plenty amount of new bone marrow was developed. In some cases, there were failures of guided bone regeneration. In beagle dogs, guided tissue regeneration was incomplete when the defect was collapsed by the membrane itself and when the rate of resorption was so rapid than expected. The cause of the failure in GBR and GTR procedure is that 1) the membrane was not tightly seal the bony defects. If the sealing was not perfect, fibrous connective tissue infiltrate into the defect and inhibit the new bone formation and regeneration. 2) the membrane was too tightly attached to the tissue and then there was no space to be regenerated. In conclusion, the requirements of the membrane for periodontal tissue and bone regeneration are the biocompatibility, degree of sealingness, malleability. space making and manipulation. In this animal study. space making for new bone and periodontal ligament, and sealing the space might be the most important point for successful accomplishment of GBR and GTR.
