Analysis of Navigation Error According to Rotational Motions of Rotational Inertial Navigation for Designing Optimal Rotation Sequence (최적 회전 절차 설계를 위한 회전형 관성항법장치의 회전 동작별 항법 오차 분석)

  • This paper analyzes the navigation error for each rotational motion in order to design an optimal rotation sequence, which is a key technology in the rotational inertial navigation. Rotational inertial navigation system is designed to cancel out navigation errors caused by inertial sensor errors by periodically rotating the inertial measurement unit. A properly sequenced rotational motion cancels out the maximum amount of navigation error and is known as an optimal rotation sequence. To design such an optimal turning procedure, this paper identifies the feasible rotational motions that can be implemented in a rotational inertial navigation system and analyzes the navigation error introduced by each rotational motion. In addition, by analyzing the characteristics of the navigation error generated during a rotation sequence in combination, this paper presents the conditions for designing an optimal rotation sequence.

Analysis on Regular Rotational Gait of a Quadruped Walking Robot

  • In this paper, the regular rotational gaits of the quadruped crawling robot are studied. It is assumed that the proposed regular rotational gaits starts from one of six support patterns in a translational gaits and end up with one of six support patterns in a translational gaits. Noting that six support patterns in a regular translational gait belong to two different groups with respect to regular rotational gait, the static stability margin and the maximum rotational displacement during one rotational stride period for the two representative support patterns are investigated. It is expected that the proposed regular rotational gaits will enhance the omni-directional characteristics of the quadruped crawling robot.

  • In this paper, we present a linear controller for attitude of aircraft. We use a rotational matrix in one approach and a quaternion in the other approach. We also find some interesting mathematical properties concerning a symmetric rotational matrix and we use these properties to analyze the stability of the proposed control law. We find that the quaternion approach is better than rotational matrix approach because there exists no singular region problem in quaternion approach. On the other hand, singular region problem may happens in rotational matrix approach. The controller structure of the quaternion is also very simple compared with the one proposed by using a rotational matrix approach. We make use Matlab Simulink to simulate and illustrate the theoretical claims. The graphic animation program is developed based on Open-GL for the computer simulation of the proposed control algorithm.

  • In this paper, the rotational loss of the superconductor flywheel energy storage system (SFES) by motor/generator stator core was assessed. To do this, the vertical axial type SFES with journal type superconductor bearing was manufactured. To quantitatively assess the rotational loss by the stator core, the rotational losses by superconductor bearing and the degree of a vacuum were measured. In case of variation of the inner radius and outer radius of the stator core, the rotational losses were measured. From the experimental results, It is confirmed that the rotational loss can be reduced by means of the optimal stator core design.

  • Generally, the machining accuracy in ball end milling directly depends on the rotational accuracy affected by the spindle speeds. The effects of spindle speeds for rotational accuracy in the high speed regions are more dominant than those in the low speed regions. This paper will investigate effects that the Increased speed affects on the rotational error according to the increase of a rotational speed and machining characteristics of the high speed ball-end milling in various rotational speeds and on various materials by using the high speed air-bearing spindle.

  • This paper represents an ultra precision rotational device where the smooth impact drive mechanism (SIDM) is utilized as driving mechanism. Linear motions of piezoelectric elements are converted to the rotational motion of disk by frictional forces generated between the rotational disk and the friction part that is attached to the piezoelectric element. This device was designed to drive the rotational disk using slip-slip motion mechanism instead of stick-slip motion mechanism occurred in conventional impact drive mechanism. Experimental results show that the angular velocity is increased in proportion to the magnitude and frequency of supplied voltage to piezoelectric element and decreased as the preload is increased. In our device, the smooth rotational motion was obtained when the driving frequency has been reached to 500Hz under the driving voltage of 100V.

New Evaluation and Test of Sidewall's Rotational Stiffness of Radial Tire

  • In this paper, we have revisited the estimation of the rotational stiffness of sidewall of radial tire and have suggested a new method for evaluation of the rotational stiffness. Since thicknesses, and volume fractions of the constituents of sidewall are varied depending on radial position, the equivalent shear modulus of the sidewall also depends on radial position. For the estimation of rotational stiffness of sidewall's rubber, we have divided its cross-section into sufficient numbers of small parts and have calculated the equivalent shear modulus of each part of sidewall. Using the shear moduli of divided parts, we have obtained the rotational stiffness by employing in-plane shear deformation theory. This method is expected to be a useful tool in tire design since it relates such basic variables to the global stillness of tire. Applying the calculation method to a radial tire of P205/60R15, we have compared its rotational stiffness with experimental one.

  • In general, the radial error motion of a machine tool spindle system is effected on the accuracy of the parts to be made. This paper presents in milling process an investigation into spindle rotational accuracy effects on surface roughness of processing parts. We experimented the effects on spindle rotational accuracy in milling process by cutting AL 7075 workpiece at various rotational speed. In order to analyze the effects of rotational accuracy on surface roughness, we proposed the method using iSIGHT's RBF Approximation. The proposed method can be used fur anticipating the surface roughness when some spindle rotational accuracy experiments could be done in milling process.

Rotational State Distributions of I2(B) from Vibrational Predissociation of I2(B)-Ne

  • The vibrational predissociation of triatomic, i.e., atom-diatom, van der Waals complexes in transient electronic excited state has been widely investigated. The predissociation rates or lifetimes are major concerns of the previous studies. Experimentally rotational state distributions of diatomic product are hardly investigated and few theoretical stuides on rotational state distributions have appeared in literature. In this work, choosing the frequently studied $I_2(B)-Ne$ complex as an example, we investigate the change of rotational state distributions of $I_2(B)-Ne$ produced from predissociation of the various initial states of $I_2(B)-Ne$. The present study on the rotational distributions indicates that rotational state distributions depend significantly on the predissociation energy and the van der Waals vibrational modes of $I_2(B)-Ne$. That is, the initial state dependency of rotational state distributions is extensively discussed.

Rotational State Distribution of NO after Collisions with Fast Hydrogen Atom

  • Based on the collisional time-correlation function approach a general analytical expression has been derived for the double differential cross-section with respect to the scattering angle and the final rotational energy, which can be applied to molecules with non-zero electronic orbital angular momentum after collision with fast hydrogen atoms. By integrating this expression another very simple expression, which gives the final rotational distribution as a function of the rotational quantum number, has also been derived. When this expression is applied to NO(2Π1/2, v'=1) and NO(2Π3/2, v'=1, 2, 3), it can reproduce the experimental rotational distribution after collision with fast H atom very well. The average rotational quantum number and average rotational energy using this expression are also in good agreement with those deduced from the experimental distributions.
