In this study, a rotating machine that can reproduce normal condition and 8 fault conditions were produced, and vibration data was acquired. Feature is calculated from the acquired data, and accuracy is analyzed through fault diagnosis using artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms. In order to achieve optimal timing and higher accuracy, features by three domains were applied to the fault diagnosis. The learning number was selected as a setting variable. As a result of the rotating machine fault diagnosis, high precision was found in the frequency domain than in others, and precise fault diagnoses were accomplished through all of 10 operations, at the learning number of 5000 and 8000. Given the efficiency of time, it was estimated to be the most efficient when the number of learning was 5000.
In the present study, for first time the size dependent vibration behavior of a rotating functionally graded (FG) Timoshenko nanobeam based on Eringen's nonlocal theory is investigated. It is assumed that the physical and mechanical properties of the FG nanobeam are varying along the thickness based on a power law equation. The governing equations are determined using Hamilton's principle and the generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM) is used to obtain the results for cantilever boundary conditions. The accuracy and validity of the results are shown through several numerical examples. In order to display the influence of size effect on first three natural frequencies due to change of some important nanobeam parameters such as material length scale, angular velocity and gradient index of FG material, several diagrams and tables are presented. The results of this article can be used in designing and optimizing elastic and rotary type nano-electro-mechanical systems (NEMS) like nano-motors and nano-robots including rotating parts.
A modeling method for the vibration analysis of rotating composite cantilever plates is presented in this paper. The coupling effects between inplane motions and the bending motion are considered and explicit mass and stiffness matrices are derived for the modal analysis. Numerical results are obtained and some of them are compared to those of a commercial program to confirm the accuracy of the present method. Numerical results show that the coupling effects become important only when laminates are stacked up unsymmetrically. Incidentally, natural frequencies loci veering, loci crossing, and associated mode shape variations are observed.

Recently, rotating elements which use mechanical and electrical systems have been utilized for high speed and accuracy to increase the performance. The most important thing to get a more reliable system is to understand the friction, wear and characteristics which has an effect on various coated surfaces. In this study, the tribologicali characteristics of various soft/hard materials were investigated by using a custom-built pin-on-reciprocator tester From the experimental results, it was found that the friction coefficients of the soft material coated surfaces were lower under various normal loads due to trier self-lubricating ability and material transfer to the counter surface.
In this paper, the equations of motion by which the natural vibration of rotating thick ring can be analyzed accurately are presented. These equations are derived from the theory of finite deformation and the principle of virtual work. The effects of variation in curvature across the ring cross-section can be considered in these equations. The ring models are called as thick ring model and thin ring model respectively as the effects of variation in curvature are considered or neglected. The radial displacement of ring which is rotating at constant angular velocity is determined by a non-linear equation derived from the principle of virtual work. The equations of the in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations at disturbed state are also formulated from the principle of virtual work. They can be expressed as the combination of the radial displacement at the steady state and the disturbed displacements about the steady state. The natural vibrations of rings with different thickness are analyzed by using the presented ring models and 3-dimensional finite element method to verify accuracy of the presented equations of motion. Its results are compared and discussed.

In this paper, a modeling method for the vibration analysis of rotating structures employing multi-reference frames is presented. The geometric stiffening effect that results from centrifugal inertia force is considered. In most previous studies single reference frame has been employed for the analysis. In the present study, a modeling method employing multi-reference frames is presented, and the effects of employing multi-reference frames on the analysis accuracy are investigated through solving numerical examples.
This paper presents theoretical analyses for unstable vibrations caused by the couple of bending and torsion in a rotating shaft driven through a universal joint. A driving shaft is assumed to be rigid and to rotate with a constant angular velocity. The driven shaft system consists of a flexible shaft with a circular section and a symmetrical rotor attached at a point between the shaft ends. Equations of motion derived hold with an accuracy of the second order of shaft deformations, and are analyzed by the asymptotic method. The vibrations become unstable when the driving shaft rotates with the angular velocity to be approximately equal to half of the sum of the natural frequencies for whirling and torsional vibrations.

A modelling method for the bending vibration analysis of rotating cantilever beams employing finite element method is presented in this paper. Different from the conventional modelling method in wh ich only Cartesian deformation variables are used, a non-Cartesian deformation variable is introduced and approximated to derive the equations of motion. Numerical results obtained by using the presented modelling method are compared to those obtained by using other methods in the related literature, and the accuracy of the presented method is verified through the comparison study. The presented modelling method is superior to other previous methods in a sense that several advantages of the previous methods are incorporated into the presented method.

It is widely recognized that increasing the accuracy and diversity of rotating machinery necessitates an appropriate diagnostic technique and maintenance system. Until now, operators have monitored machinery using their senses or by analyzing simple changes to root mean square output values. We developed an expert diagnostic system that uses fuzzy inference to expertly assess the condition of a machine and allow operators to make accurate judgments. This paper describes the hardware and software of the expert diagnostic system. An assessment of the diagnostic performance for five fault phenomena typically found in pumps is also described.

In general, industrial rotating machinery have been designed to have critical speed that is above operating speed. But nowadays, they should be operated more than the first critical speed as usual with the trend of high speed and high performance of rotating machinery. Therefore, it is important to predict the accuracy rotordynamic characteristics of the high speed rotating system in advance. In this paper, the results of rotordynamic analysis about FWP(Feed Water Pump) drive turbine rotor are showed. Because the FWP drive turbine analyzed is high speed machinery operated more than the operation speed of conventional FWP drive turbine, Seismic response analysis as well as unbalance response analysis is done in order to improve the reliability of the new turbine rotor-bearing system.
