It is widely accepted that free-radical induced oxidative damages are involved in pathogenic processes of major diseases including cancer, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. A number of epidemiological studies have indicated that frequent consumptions of plant foods rich in antioxidants reduce the risk of developing cancer and cardiovascular diseases, while many intervention trials have failed to prove the protective role of major dietary antioxidants.(omitted)

Free radicals and oxidative stress playa crucial role in the pathophysiology of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases including congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, hypertrophy, atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease. We have demonstrated that IH 636 proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) provides excellent protection against free radicals in both in vitro and in vivo models, and exhibits significantly better efficacy as compared to vitamins C, E and $\beta$-carotene.(omitted)

This study deals with the concept of Microcomputer Playfulness(MCP), Even though MCP was introduced recently in the MIS research, the concept is expected and empirically supported to be significant in explaining information technology adoption and usage. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM), this study presented a revised model to explain individual PC use and explored the role of MCP in PC use. The results showed that MCP has a direct influence on PC use rather than a mediator between Self-efficacy and PC use, and that MCP is a better predictor of PC use than Computer Anxiety.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID) pandemic began in December 2019. Many countries have implemented restrictions such as mandatory mask wearing and social distancing. These measures have caused diverse and complex health problems, particularly in women's health, anxiety, and depression. This review examines an alternative approach to the treatment of endometriosis during the COVID pandemic. The efficacy of ginseng with anti-inflammatory activity and ability to relieve or prevent symptoms of endometriosis is discussed and reviewed.

New information technologies have often been treated as innovations for target users. Although users in recent times have had significantly more opportunities to be socialized with information technologies, the rapid pace of technology development usually means that every new technology represents a fairly major change over the previous one. Although a fairly significant body of research that empirically tests these alternative models and theories is now in existence, some questions with regard to the role of perceptions in innovation adoption remain unanswered. This paper reports the results of a field study examining adoption of an information technology innovation represented by an internet application. Moreover, the study examines the effects of an important moderating influence-personal innovativeness-on this adoption process. Finally, the study seeks to shed further light on the determinants of perceptions by examining the relative efficacy of mass media and interpersonal channels in facilitating perception development.

The discharge electrodes in ac PDP are coated with dielectric layer, and transparent MgO thin films are deposited on the dielectric layer. The main role of the MgO thin films in ac PDP is to protect the dielectric layer from sputtering by ion bombardment in the glow-discharge plasma. An additional important role of the MgO thin film is the high secondary electron emission coefficient which leads the low firing voltage and low cost of the PDP. In this paper, we investigated the relations of the crystal orientation about deposition thickness, deposition rate, temperature of substrate, and distance between the MgO tablet and the substrate. Investigations on the symbolic role, spiritual health benefits and efficacy of the clothing items of the Ga wolomo (chief priest) have received little attention. Highlighting the relevance of these clothes, this paper focuses on the chief priest's dress code for his appointment, confinement, ordination, ceremonial and daily life activities. Data were collected through content analysis, participant observation and interviews with people from selected Ga communities, such as La, Teshie and Ga Mashie. The findings revealed that the selection of the chief priest is confirmed with a special clothing item. His traditional clothes and adornment also have meanings, importance and symbolic interpretations; explained in their uses, colour and style. As the spiritual head, the role of the chief priest's costume is very distinguished and symbolic in executing his duties; protecting, strengthening faith, confidence and assurance during spiritual healing, and when solving pertinent problems in the community. The paper concludes by recommending further research and documentation on other aspects of the Ga clothing culture, such as hand items and hair styles from the pre-colonial period to the present.

Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a protein plays a major role in the development and maintenance of central and peripheral nervous system. Recent data suggest that reduced availability of NGF may play a significant role in the pathogenesis of diabetic $polyneuropathy.^{1)}$ In our previous study, steroidal saponin from Liriope platyphylla showed neurotrophic effect by stimulation of NGF synthesis and activation of tyrosine kinase $signaling.^{2)}$ In this study, we examined the neurotrophic effect of Liriope platyphylla (LP); which was from Mylyang(MYL) and Cheongyang(CHE), and Ophiopogon japonicus (CHI) on in vitro and in vivo model for the comparison of their NGF induction. We quantitatively analyzed spicatoside A in the LP and CHI by HPLC. And we investigated the correlation between the contents of spicatoside A and NGF induction efficacy on PC 12 cells and mouse serum. These results suggest that spicatoside A may enhance NGF induction in animal model.

A crucial and causative role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis is believed to be the oxidative modification of low density lipoprotein (LDL). The oxidation of LDL involves released free radical driven lipid peroxidation. Several lines of evidence support the role of oxidized LDL in atherogenesis. Epidemiologic studies have demonstrated an association between an increased intake of dietary antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin E and vitamin C and reduced morbidity and mortality from coronary artery diseases. It is thus hypothesized that dietary antioxidants may help prevent the development and progression of atherosclerosis. The oxidation of LDL has been shown to be reduced by antioxidants, and, in animal models, improved antioxidants may offer possibilities for the prevention of atherosclerosis. The results of several on going long randomized intervention trials will provide valuahle information on the efficacy and safety of improved antioxidants in the prevention of atherosclerosis. This review a evaluates current literature involving antioxidants and vascular disease, with a particular focus on the potential mechanisms.

The recent development of new surgical techniques using lasers has increased the opportunities for open surgery involving minimal manipulation and faster and more accurate removal of lesions. The increasing use of laser technology requires nurses to play an extensive role. As assistants, nurses play an important role in maintaining the efficacy and safety of the laser device. In addition, they are also responsible for providing pre-and post-operative care to patients. Therefore, nurses should be aware of how to proceed with operative laser treatment for all surgical procedures and the steps for maintaining safety prior to, during, and after laser treatment. This review provides in-depth knowledge for nurses undertaking continuing education on lasers and patient care in the field of gynecology.
