  • Recently, though damage caused by intensive rainfall and typhoon happens frequently, we could not forecast or predict a disaster, due to the difficulty of obtaining exact information about it. For efficient disaster management, the most urgent need is the preparation of a flood forecast-warning system. Therefore, we need to provide a program that has the ability of inundation analysis and flood forecast-warning using a geographic information system, and using domestic technology rather than that from foreign countries. In this research, we constructed a FDMS(Flood Disaster Management System) that is able to analyze real-time inundation data, and usins the GIS(Ceographic Information System) with prompt analyzing of hydrologic-topographical parameters and runoff-computation. Moreover, by expressing inundation analysis in three-dimensions, we were able to get to the inundation area with ease. Finally, we expect that the application of this method in the (food forecast-warning system will have great role in reducing casualties and damage.

  • An enhanced understanding of the nature of scientific knowledge-what counts as a scientific argument and how scientists justify their claims with evidence-has been central in Korean science instruction. However, despite its importance, scholars are generally concerned about the difficulty of both addressing and improving students' epistemic understanding, especially for students of a young age. This study investigated Korean middle school students' epistemic ideas about claim, data, evidence, and argument when they engage in reading both text-based and data-inscription arguments. Compared to previous studies, Korean middle school students show a sophisticated understanding of the role of claim and evidence. Yet, these students think that there is only a single way of interpreting data. When comparing students' ideas from text-based and data-inscription arguments, the majority of Korean students barely perceive text description as evidence and recognize only measured data as evidence.

  • The success of Nintendo's Wii has changed the paradigm of console game. Existing games and consoles set up the game-playing system of complicated commands, narratives, and significantly advanced the degree of difficulty by the device's excellent capacity and the superiority of graphic in order to draw so called "Game Manias", while Nintendo established the easy game-playing system for not only game manias but women and elderly people. Such an innovation has carried out the most important role for Nintendo to dominate the market all over the world by 47.4% market share of consoles. In addition, it provided the users with unique interaction and emotional experience. In this study, we analyze the case above in terms of product design strategy, particularly emotional design strategy between Nintendo & Sony.

  • Protein X is one of the subunits of pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. The biological role of this protein has not been fully elucidated, mainly because of the difficulty in its dissociation from the tightly bound dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase-protein X subcomplex. We have found that the detachment of protein X from acetyltransferase subunit can be easily accomplished by the cycles of freezing and thawing proces. Several lines of evidence including sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, N-terminal amino acid sequence analysis and acetylation with $[2^{14}C]$ pyruvate confirmed that the purified protein is protein X. The purified intact form of protein X was acetylated by $[2^{14}C]$ pyruvate in the presence of py-ruvate dehydrogenase subunit. The acetylation efficiency of this protein was lower than that of acetyltransferase and was not affected by the presence of acetyltransferase.

  • [$80\;\sim\;90\%$ of Information that human masters from outside are image information which depend on sight. So, in case machine takes the place of human's function, role of image processing is very important. However, because human's sight function is formed through evolution and studying for a long time, substituting it for computer attend with unexpected difficulty. In railroad, there are many field which the application of automation system is expected by using computer instead of safety watch that depend on usual human sight, macrography. But, there are many research field and conditions in the railroad when various outside conditions are considered, comparing with another field. This study analyses the recent image processing technology and reviews the task of image processing technology and its direction.]

  • We suggest resource authorization system based on RBAC admitting someone to access resources. In existing grid environment, The authorization mechanism on user's resource is to give users an authority on the basis of DN(Distinguished Name) of proxy certificate and map file mapped in local system ID by one-to-one. In this case, it is difficulty in resource management such as each accounting management, memory resource, and disk resource, if the number of users, who want to use them is increased. To solve this problem, we specify the role of user's task in extension fields of his proxy certificate instead of the authorization mechanism of user's ID and propose resource authorization system being able to access his resource.

  • In less favored areas, it is getting more difficult to manage Satoyama according to aging of rural residents and depopulation. Some support of urban residents are necessary for management of Satoyama. In this paper, the role of Satoyama management activities was clarified through the analysis of the feature of activities for managing Satoyama. The questionnaire and interview surveys were done in order to clarify the actual conditions for management of Satoyama and activities of urban residents who are participating in NPO in Hyogo Prefecture. The results of analysis are as follows. (1)The form of rural-urban exchange in Satoyama is different in each Satoyama. (2)The urban residents are contributing to the region very much on both sides of the manager and the visitor in Satoyama. (3)Many urban residents visit Satoyama for the purpose of enjoying the variety of nature and culture programs in rural area. (4)There are some urban residents who participate in activities for managing Satoyama even if Satoyama is far from their residence. So it is important for rural residents to arrange the condition that they can visit rural area without difficulty.

  • In our studies on the role of $\beta$-galactosidase in fruit softening, significant difficulty, was encountered in our attempts to extract RNA from persimmon(Diospyros kaki L. cv. Fuyu) fruit due to astringency and tannin content. Initial, unsuccessful RNA extractions involved methods using guanidinium isothiocyanate/CsCl with and without polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP), phenol/sodium lauryl sulfate(SDS), guanidinium hydrochloride, as well as polysomal RNA purification method that used 0.2 M Tris-HCI (pH 9.0) containing KCI, Mg-acetate, EDTA, $\beta$-mercaptoethanol, and sucrose. A method was devised which employed treatment of fruit with CO2 gas to diminish astringency prior to RNA extraction, followed by extraction of tissue powders with Proteinase K extraction buffer containing PVP and ascorbate at an alkaline pH. This procedure resulted in the removal of tannins and other polyphenolics and extraction of relatively large amount of high-quality RNA suitable for cDNA library construction and polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Futhermore, the procedure does not use the toxic and corrosive chemical guanidinium isothiocyanate or require ultracentrifugation.

  • Securing field screens through LTE broadcasting is a very valuable technology in news production because of its locality and concurrency. TV has the advantage of being able to deliver news faster than newspapers and make live coverage on the scene of events and events. To maximize this, not only middle-end broadcasters but also existing broadcasting stations are taking an active role in broadcasting using LTE. However LTE broadcasting has yet to secure any conflicting values of broadcasting stability and securing high-definition. The key to solving this difficulty is the transmission rate of Bit Rate. This paper compares the Bit Rate transmission method, which is variable and fixed, to provide more on-site screens through LTE, and presents the Bit Rate adjustment method as a method of screen stabilization through experiment. Consequently, the most stable broadcast screen can be obtained when transmitting and connecting it to broadcasting in a variable 5M method.

  • This study conducted an analysis of types of reasoning shown in students' solving a problem and processes of students' reasoning according to type of problem by posing an open-ended problem where students' reasoning activity is expected to be vigorous and a multiple-choice problem with which students are familiar. And it examined teacher's role of promoting the reasoning in solving an open-ended problem. Students showed more various types of reasoning in solving an open-ended problem compared with multiple-choice problem, and showed a process of extending the reasoning as chains of reasoning are performed. Abduction, a type of students' probable reasoning, was active in the open-ended problem, accordingly teacher played a role of encouragement, prompt and guidance. Teachers posed a problem after varying it from previous problem type to open-ended problem in teaching and evaluation, and played a role of helping students' reasoning become more vigorous by proper questioning when students had difficulty reasoning.
