Ginsenoside Rg1 attenuates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury due to inhibition of NOX2-mediated calcium homeostasis dysregulation in mice

  • Background: The incidence of ischemic cerebrovascular disease is increasing in recent years and has been one of the leading causes of neurological dysfunction and death. Ginsenoside Rg1 has been found to protect against neuronal damage in many neurodegenerative diseases. However, the effect and mechanism by which Rg1 protects against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI) are not fully understood. Here, we report the neuroprotective effects of Rg1 treatment on CIRI and its possible mechanisms in mice. Methods: A bilateral common carotid artery ligation was used to establish a chronic CIRI model in mice. HT22 cells were treated with Rg1 after OGD/R to study its effect on [Ca2+]i. The open-field test and poleclimbing experiment were used to detect behavioral injury. The laser speckle blood flowmeter was used to measure brain blood flow. The Nissl and H&E staining were used to examine the neuronal damage. The Western blotting was used to examine MAP2, PSD95, Tau, p-Tau, NOX2, PLC, p-PLC, CN, NFAT1, and NLRP1 expression. Calcium imaging was used to test the level of [Ca2+]i. Results: Rg1 treatment significantly improved cerebral blood flow, locomotion, and limb coordination, reduced ROS production, increased MAP2 and PSD95 expression, and decreased p-Tau, NOX2, p-PLC, CN, NFAT1, and NLRP1 expression. Calcium imaging results showed that Rg1 could inhibit calcium overload and resist the imbalance of calcium homeostasis after OGD/R in HT22 cells. Conclusion: Rg1 plays a neuroprotective role in attenuating CIRI by inhibiting oxidative stress, calcium overload, and neuroinflammation.

뉴스콘텐츠 제작자들의 역할스트레스와 심리적 탈진감이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of Newspaper Contents Producers' Role Stress and Burnout on Their Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 뉴스콘텐츠 제작자들의 역할 스트레스와 심리적 탈진감에 직무만족도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 밝혀내는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 신문사에 종사하는 저널리스트를 대상으로 설문조사가 이루어졌다. 총 229부가 통계분석에 사용되었으며, 상관관계분석, 다변인 회귀분석을 실시하여 검증이 이루어졌다. 분석결과 첫째, 역할 스트레스 4개의 요인 중 역할모호성, 반복적 업무, 역할갈등에 대한 스트레스가 높을수록 직무만족도가 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 역할과부하로 인한 스트레스가 가장 많음에도 불구하고 직무만족도와는 아무런 관련이 없는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 역할 스트레스 요인 중 역할모호성이 직무만족도에 상대적으로 가장 큰 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 심리적 탈진감은 직무만족도와 부적상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 저널리스트들은 정서적 고갈, 비인격화, 자아성취감 저하와 같은 심리적 탈진감을 많이 느낄수록 직무만족도가 낮아지는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 심리적 탈진감 요인 중 자아성취감 저하가 직무만족도에 가장 큰 영향력을 미치는 요인으로 밝혀졌다.

보호고용 정신지체인의 직무스트레스와 음주동기가 음주행위에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Job Stress and Drinking Motivations on the Drinking Behavior of Korea's Mentally Challenged in Sheltered Employment)

  • 본 연구는 현재 보호고용 중인 정신지체인의 직무스트레스의 정도는 어떠한지, 이들의 주된 음주 동기는 무엇이며, 음주행위에 가장 영향을 끼치는 음주 동기는 무엇인지 등을 살펴보고자 실시되었다. 본 연구에 참석한 정신지체인 97명의 직무스트레스 총점은 2.66(SD=.58)으로 '보통' 보다 약간 낮은 수치를 보여주었다. 직무스트레스를 세부 요인별로 살펴보았을 때 금전적 보상관련 스트레스를 가장 많이 경험하는 것으로 조사되었다. 음주동기에 있어서는 가장 주된 음주 동기는 사교동기(M=1.9175)인 것으로 조사되었다. 음주행위를 살펴보았을 때, 음주빈도에서는 1년에 3-4회 음주한다는 응답자가 가장 많았으며, 1회 음주량으로는 맥주 500cc 2잔 정도가 가장 많았다. 음주행위에서 음주빈도에 영향을 주는 유의미한 요인들로는 대처동기(beta=.497), 연령(beta=-.312), 금전적 보상 관련 스트레스(beta=.225)로 대처동기로 인해 음주할수록, 연령이 낮을수록, 직장에서 금전적 보상 관련 스트레스를 많이 느낄수록 음주빈도가 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 음주량에 영향을 주는 유의미한 요인들은 고양동기(beta=.718), 함께 음주하는 사람(beta=-.296), 양적역할과다(beta=-.299) 관련 스트레스로 정서적 고양을 목적으로 음주할수록, 혼자 음주하는 경우에, 그리고 직장에서 양적역할과다 관련 스트레스를 적게 느낄수록 음주량은 많은 것으로 조사되었다.

기혼여성의 비정규 노동과 일/가족 갈등 -학습지 교사를 중심으로 (Married Women's contingent Work and Work/Family Conflicts - Concentrating on Study Paper Instructors)

  • The goal of this study is to analyze the complicated and diverse nature of the relationship between work and family life for the study paper instructors of whom are married women. The survey data for these analyses were from an in depth interview which was conducted with the 21 contingent female workers as study samples. They are the married women, who started to work or returned to work after an absence to raise a family. The results showed that in reality the contingent female worker faced worse working conditions than the full time female labour force, even if women were determined to be a study paper instructor to meet work and family demand. It was the contingent women worker with a short time work experience who were in the worst position tlo adjust their working arrangements to suit their family needs and were confronted with the greater inter-role friction as a vulnerable group. The study revealed that instrumental and emotional support of husband has a positive effect on maintaining job role and lessening role conflicts and stress of the women. The work/family relationship indicated its double side, conflict and support. The women simply could not afford to depend on the psychological support form family in the midst of the inferior employment conditions and the absence of social support. This strategy, however, was based on the family ideology and the patriarchal gender division of labor. It caused the overload, stress and poor health of women involving some risk to give up the work.

Association of Amplitude and Stability of Circadian Rhythm, Sleep Quality, and Occupational Stress with Sickness Absence among a Gas Company Employees-A Cross Sectional Study from Iran

  • Background: The present study was carried out to assess the relationship between sickness absence and occupational stress, sleep quality, and amplitude and stability of circadian rhythm as well as to determine contributing factors of sickness absence. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted on 400 randomly selected employees of an Iranian gas company. The data were collected using Pittsburgh sleep quality index, Karolinska sleepiness scale, circadian type inventory, and Osipow occupational stress questionnaires. Results: The mean age and job tenure of the participants were $33.18{\pm}5.64years$ and $6.06{\pm}4.99years$, respectively. Also, the participants had been absent from work on average 2.16 days a year. According to the results, 209 participants had no absences, 129 participants had short-term absences, and 62 participants had long-term absences. The results showed a significant relationship between short-term absenteeism and amplitude of circadian rhythm [odds ratio (OR) = 6.13], sleep quality (OR = 14.46), sleepiness (OR = 2.08), role boundary (OR = 6.45), and responsibility (OR = 5.23). Long-term absenteeism was also significantly associated with amplitude of circadian rhythm (OR = 2.42), sleep quality (OR = 21.56), sleepiness (OR = 6.44), role overload (OR = 4.84), role boundary (OR = 4.27), and responsibility (OR = 3.72). Conclusion: The results revealed that poor sleep quality, amplitude of circadian rhythm, and occupational stress were the contributing factors for sickness absence in the study population.

사무직 직급에 따른 직무스트레스에 미치는 요인 (Comparison of Job Stressors between Managers and Employees in White-Collar Workers of an Electric Company)

  • Objectives : This study was intended to investigate the differences of job stressors between managers and low level employees among white-collar workers. Another objective of this study was to examine whether the effects of job stressors on mental health differ between the two groups. Methods : Data was obtained from 204 managers and 258 low level employees who were employed in white-collar jobs. Fourteen job stressors and seven job stress variables were measured. Results : Among the 14 job stressors, role overload, job insecurity, and work-family conflict were higher job stressors for the manager group whereas role conflict, work-aptitude incongruity, participation in decision making, and promotion problems were higher job stressors for the low level of employees. There were no differences in job stress scores between the two groups. However, differences in the effects of job stressors on job stress were found between the two groups. For the manager group, job insecurity, work-aptitude incongruity, and work-family conflict significantly affected in explanation of job stress whereas for the low level employees, role underload, peer satisfaction, and environmental problems significantly explaining the job stress variables. Conclusions : There were significant differences in job stressors between managers and low level employees among white-collar workers. Additionally there were differences in the effects of job stressors on job stress between the two groups.

조직 내에서 테크노스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인 및 테크노스트레스가 조직 내 스마트 기기 활용에 미치는 영향 (The Major Factors Influencing Technostress and the Effects of Technostress on Usage Intention of Mobile Devices in the Organization Context)

  • 스마트 기기의 발전은 종사자들의 업무환경뿐만 아니라 생활에도 많은 영향을 주었다. 스마트 기기는 업무 방식이나 절차를 간편하게 만들었으며, 언제 어디서든 팀원들과 자료를 공유할 수 있게 하는 등 많은 이점을 가져다주었지만, 한편으로는 업무의 과부화, 역할 모호성 등 많은 문제점 역시 야기하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 업무 종사자들의 테크노스트레스가 업무 간 지속적인 기기활용에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보고자 하였으며, 이 과정에서 스트레스 대처방식이 어떻게 매개하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 317명의 중소기업 종사자들을 대상으로 구조방정식 모델을 검증하였다. 그 결과 테크노스트레스 선행요인 중 역할 모호성, 기술적 한계만이 테크노스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인임을 알 수 있었고, 종사자들이 테크노스트레스를 느낄 때 정서 중심적 대처를 통해 스트레스를 해소한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

가정전문간호사의 직무스트레스 측정 도구 개발 (Scale Development of Job Stress for Home Care Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a job stress scale for hospital-based home care nurses in Korea. The process was construction of the conceptual framework, development of the preliminary items, verification of the content validity, item analysis and test of the reliability. The preliminary items were based on literature review and in-depth interviews with home care nurses. As a result, eight categories and sixty items were selected. These were reviewed by seven specialists for content validity and finally fifty one items were chosen. Data was collected from 180 home care nurses who were engaged in 87 hospitals from August to September 2003. The result of item analysis one was excepted, The final item count was 50. Categories were as follows: overload work(8 items), lack of specialized knowledge and technique(5 items), ethical dilemma(4 items), role conflict(5 items), interpersonal relationships(6 items), visiting home environment(9 items), driving conditions(4 items) and lack of administrative support(9 items), The reliability of the scale by Cronbach's alpha was .948 and the domain's reliability ranged from .649 to .841. The result of this study could be used to measure the job stress of home care nurses. However, for further validity and reliability, repeated studies will be necessary.

ICNP를 적용한 한국 가족의 현상 및 특성 분석 (Analysis of Phenomena and Characteristics of Family Nursing in Korea by ICNP)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze phenomena and characteristics of family nursing in Korea based on the study by Yun et al. (1999) by ICNP. The subjects of this study were 115 reports on family nursing care in Korea National Open University. The results of this study were as follows; 1. In the phenomenon of family nursing, 'Inappropriate family coping' comprised of 17.0% and 'Inadequate care for a sick member' comprised of 16.8%. 2. It was found that 'A few close neighbors was 62.5%, 'Lack of communication between married couple' was 60.0%, 'Neglet of general child rearing' was 40.9%, 'Closed communication pattern of the head of a family' was 36.0%, and 'Inadequate distribution of each family member's role' was 27.2%. 3. 'Lack of family interaction in community' and 'Social isolation' were combined with 'Lack of family interaction in community', and 'Disturbance in family communication' and 'Lack of family intimacy' were combined with 'Disturbance in family communication'. 4. 'Dual-loading with office work and housework', 'Overload of caring one's elders because of the status as a dual-income family' and 'Lack of family support system' were added into 'Inappropriate family coping'.

간호원이 근무중에 경험하는 스트레스 측정을 위한 도구개발 연구 (The Development of the Stress Measurement Tool for Staff Nurses working in the Hospital)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the baseline data for developing the stress measurement tool for staff nurses working in the hospital. Two hundred and fifteen stan nurses in Seoul National University Hospital were participated during the period from Feb. 28 to Mar. 10, 1984. Though the pretest and literature review a questionnaire was constructed with 63 stressors which were experienced by the nurses in the hospital. Subjects were given instruction to rate 1∼6 likert type scale according to the level of stress experienced by each stressor described. Reliability of the tool was tested by Cronbach's Alpha, and the result was α=0.94871. Factor analysis was applied to organize 63 items together. As the result, 15 factors were obtained and these factors explained 66.3% of variance. The 15 factors were: 1) Work overload 2) Role conflict as a profession 3) Lack of professional knowledge and skill 4) Interpersonal problem 5) Conflict in nurse doctor relationship 6) Work conflict with doctors 7) Emotional burden due to the limitation of medicine 8) Poor treatment 9) Unsatisfactory relationship with supervisor 10) Low reward 11) Unsatisfactory relationship with subordinate 12) Poor physical environment of unit 13)Responsibility for extra affairs 14)Unfamiliar situation 15)Night duty.
