Perception and experience of dental communication education based on the role played by some dental hygiene students (치위생의사소통 교육에서의 역할극 수업에 대한 인식과 경험에 대한 연구)

  • Background: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of role-play in dental hygiene education by analyzing learners' perceptions and experiences of role-play classes. Methods: Role-play was used as a teaching method to run dental medical communication and practice classes for 31 3rd graders in the Department of Dental Hygiene to investigate the learner's perception of role-play classes, effectiveness of the classes, and learner's perception of the experience. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze the differences in learners' perceptions of the role-play classes according to the main characteristics related to dental health communication education. Results: The correlation coefficient between awareness of dental communication education (4.74 ± 0.35) and awareness of role-play classes (4.44 ± 0.48) was an Rs of 0.634, showing a significant positive correlation (p<0.001). Conclusion: Learners recognized that dental hygiene communication competency is important for dental hygienists. In addition, a strategic teaching design is necessary to reduce the learner's burden on role-play considering the learner's experience, which is perceived as a disadvantage of role-play

The study about variables influencing emotional, normative, and functional marriage intentions of unmarried men and women (미혼남녀의 정서적·당위적·기능적 결혼의향에 영향을 미치는 변인 연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate individual awareness variables influencing emotional, normative, and functional marriage intentions of unmarried men and women. Independent variables were values of offspring, perceptions to unmarried life, attitudes toward multiple role planning, perceptions and availabilities of marriage-related policies, views on the marriageable age, psychological burdens of pressure to marriage by significant people, and views on parents' support for marriage fund. Method: 553 unmarried men and women in Daegu, Korea were surveyed, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, multivariate analysis of variance(MANOVA), multiple regression analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis with SPSS 22.0. Results: First, this study was more exploratory and in-depth approach to marriage intentions than precedent studies. The sub factors of marriage intentions were emotional, normative, and functional marriage ones. Second, emotional marriage intention showed significant differences depending on gender, dating, views on the marriageable age, and degree of acceptance of parents' support for marriage fund. Among the individual awareness variables, values of offspring, perceptions to unmarried life, attitudes toward multiple role planning, and psychological burdens of pressure to marriage personally or by friends influenced emotional marriage intention. Third, normative marriage intention showed significant differences depending on gender, religion, occupational status, employment condition, dating, views on the marriageable age, and degree of acceptance of parents' support for marriage fund. Among the individual awareness variables, values of offspring, perception to unmarried life, attitudes toward multiple role planning, view on the marriageable age, availabilities of marriage-related information offering policies, and psychological burdens of pressure to marriage by mother influenced normative marriage intention. Fourth, functional marriage intention showed significant differences depending on gender, job, parents' support for marriage fund, views on the marriageable age, and degree of acceptance of parents' support for marriage fund. Among the individual awareness variables, functional marriage intention was influenced by values of offspring, perception about unmarried life, attitudes toward multiple role planning, and degree of acceptance of parents' support for marriage fund. Finally, the hierarchical regression analysis showed that individual awareness variables influenced on marriage intentions. Especially, values of offspring, perceptions to unmarried, and attitudes toward multiple role planning influenced on emotional, normative, and functional marriage intentions in common. Conclusions: The findings from these analyses suggest that the selective process based on the individual awareness has become very significant to having marriage intentions. Therefore, this study will contribute as the basic data on national marriage-related policies. Furthermore, this study will be able to use to think about the marriage intention as a task to be preceded by the national policy in order to prepare for Korea 's low fertility and aging phenomenon.

Recognition of Designer's role between Designers and Non-designers

  • General recognition on the role of a designer has differently changed according to the age and region respectively. This research has clarified general recognition on a designer's role among a designer, experts that designers mainly perform co-work and an ordinary people in a period when the design identity is more confused than any other time. The results of this research are as follows. First, the 13 definitions on a role of a designer in a company were identified through field interview survey by presidents and practical responsible persons in design-specialized companies. Second, it was proved whether there is a difference in recognition on a role of a designer between designers and non-designers. Third, this research divided a group of non-designers into two groups such as a design job-related group mainly performing co-work with designer, and an ordinary people's group that doesn't major design. After that, this research found out the most sympathizing definition on a role of a designer at a company in three groups divided into a designer's group, a design job-related group and an ordinary people's group. The awareness on the role of designer was more objectively regulated three-dimensionally in all aspects of a designers group and a non-designers group. In addition, the findings of recognition difference of each group on a designer's role will help comprehensive understanding on each experts group and an ordinary people. The findings of the research will help in performing co-work of designers and non-designers in design decisionmaking based on understanding of this recognition.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the green management evaluation criteria and Employee Awareness and analyze their impact on management performance. A survey was conducted using a questionnaire form that was given to companies with fewer than 300 regular workers and less than 30 billion won in sales. The three-step mediated effect analysis proposed by Baran and Kenny was performed to verify the roles of the parameters. The research results are summarized as follows. First, awareness of greenhouse gases and environmental pollution play a mediating role affecting the management performance. Second, awareness of harmful chemical substances play a mediating role affecting the management performance. Lastly, The survey subjects were limited to SMEs in Chungcheong province and thus, this may not be applicable to all companies.

Differences in Awareness, Attitude and Knowledge toward Muscle Health according to General Characteristics (근육건강에 대한 일반적 특성에 따른 인식, 태도 및 지식의 차이)

  • Purpose: To understand awareness, attitude and knowledge levels of muscle health of adults over 18 years old. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study using questionnaires. A total of 401 questionnaires were included for final analysis. Mean and standard deviation of the continuous variables were analyzed and frequency analysis of categorical variables was performed. To identify differences according to general characteristics, t-test was used. Results: Awareness scores about the importance of muscle health and exercises were 8.3 and 13.0, respectively. Attitude score and knowledge score were 12.4 and 15.0, respectively. There were differences in attitude toward muscle health according to gender, age, physical activity, and diet habits. However, there was no difference in attitude toward muscle health according to educational level, smoking, drinking, or sleeping. Conclusion: It is necessary to seek a strategy to improve awareness and attitude toward muscle health based on knowledge, not merely to raise knowledge level about muscle health. Since nurses play a central role in health promotion and disease prevention, they should also play an important role in strategic development and application of intervention.

  • The government is focusing its attention and support on start-ups. Nevertheless, there is anxiety and fear about starting a business at the base of public awareness. Experienced as a way to overcome fear and difficulty. Few prior studies have been done on experience factors as ones influencing entrepreneurial intention. In this study, I studied whether the experience of successful entrepreneurship through cultural indirect experience affect the resolution of fear about establishing a business. Among the influencing factors on the entrepreneurial intention, business motivation, social support and awareness of entrepreneur were selected as independent variables. In addition, by applying the cultivation theory, the drama role models were set as a controlling variable. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted targeting 399 ordinary persons. The hypothesis was tested through regression analysis using the SPSS 23 statistical package. The moderating effect was analyzed using Process Macro 3.5. Self-fulfillment, livelihood, economic motivation, social support, and awareness of entrepreneur are sub-factors of business motivation, And all of these had a positive significant effect on entrepreneurial intention. Among the significant variables, self-fulfillment was found to have the greatest effect. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the moderating effect of the drama role model, it was found play a role in controlling between self-fulfillment and entrepreneurial intention, between livelihood and entrepreneurial intention, and between awareness of entrepreneur and entrepreneurial intention. Based on these research results, academic and practical implications were presented.

The Effect of New Generation Housewives′Etiquette Awareness on their Etiquette Implementation (신세대 주부의 생활예절의식이 생활예절수행에 미치는 영향)

  • The first purpose of this study is to inquire into the effect of new generation housewives'etiquette awareness on their etiquette implementation. For this purpose, this study will search the levels of new generation housewives'etiquette awareness and etiquette implementation, how the etiquette awareness and etiquette implementation vary according to their background variables, and the effect of new generation housewives'etiquette awareness as well as the background variables on their etiquette implementation. The major findings are as follows . First, the level of etiquette awareness was somewhat higher than that of etiquette implementation. Second, generally, their etiquette awareness didn't show a significant difference by the socio-demographic variables, but showed a significant difference by the psychological variables including communication level and humanism/materialism value orientation. Third, new generation housewives'etiquette implementation showed a significant difference only by monthly income like etiquette awareness. Meanwhile, as the psychological variables, etiquette implementation showed a significant difference by all Psychological variables except sex-role attitude. fourth, according to result of looking into relative influence of socio-demographic variables, psychological variables, and etiquette awareness about etiquette implementation, etiquette awareness was a significant variable which affects etiquette implementation.

The influence of pre-service early childhood teachers' civic awareness on their ability to teach democratic citizenship education: The mediating role of multicultural beliefs

  • This study aims to investigate the impact of pre-service early childhood teachers' civic awareness and multicultural beliefs on their ability to teach democratic citizenship education and to verify the mediating effect of multicultural beliefs in the relationship between civic awareness and the ability to teach democratic citizenship education. The subjects of the study were 226 pre-service early childhood teachers, and a survey was conducted. As a result of the study, first, the civic awareness of pre-service early childhood teachers influenced the ability to teach democratic citizenship education, and the influence of the sub-variables of civic awareness was in the order of rights awareness, responsibility, community awareness, and rational decision-making awareness. Second, the multicultural beliefs of pre-service early childhood teachers also affected the ability to teach democratic citizenship education, and multicultural understanding had the strongest influence among the sub-variables of multicultural beliefs. Thirdly, we found that multicultural beliefs partially mediated the relationship between civic awareness and the ability to teach democratic citizenship education. Additionally, the results highlight the importance of educational interventions targeting multicultural beliefs, as they partially mediate the relationship between civic awareness and the ability to teach democratic citizenship education.

Influence of Awareness about Marriage and Childbirth on Pre-parent's Role of the Nursing students (간호대학생의 결혼의식과 출산의식이 예비부모역할에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to identify the influence of awareness regarding marriage and childbirth on pre-parent's role of the nursing students. The subject were 202 nursing students in B city. Data were collected from May 11 to 15, 2015 and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Significant differences were found in pre-parent's role based on economic status, ideal number of children, and desired number of children. Pre-parent's role was negatively correlated with romantic views regarding marriage and passive views on marriage. In addition, there was a positive correlation between pre-parent's role and the attitudes towards childbirth support by the nation and corporations. Meaningful variables that influenced pre-parent's role were ideal number of children, economic status and passive views on marriage. Total explanation power was 26.9% and attitudes towards childbirth as well as toward support by the nation and corporations was the most influential factor. To enhance pre-parent's role of nursing students, it is necessary to provide childbirth support by the nation and corporations in the form of financial assistance and childcare facilities, as well as to develop educational programs describing the pre-parent's role.

  • Based on the relationship between parental attitudes, human rights awareness, and self-esteem, this study examines the effects of parental attitudes that respect children's decision-making on human rights consciousness, targeting elementary school students (grades 4-6). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the relationship between parental attitudes and human rights awareness is mediated. As a result of this study, it was found that there is a positive correlation in the relationship between parental attitude, human rights awareness, and self-esteem respecting children's decision-making. In addition, it was found that self-esteem mediates the relationship between parental attitude and human rights awareness that respects children's decision-making. Therefore, in this study, the relationship between parenting attitudes and human rights consciousness, which respects children's decision-making, is to be examined in detail through self-esteem. Through this, the role of parents who respect children's decision-making and participation is necessary for the basic rights of children, and it suggests the importance of the mediating role of self-esteem in raising human rights awareness.
