The purpose of this study is to improve robotics education in public education. This study was conducted with 157 secondary school teachers regardless of their gender, age and majors. The results are as follows: First, 68.2% of the respondents (81.2% of the STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)-related teachers) thought that robotics education should be included in public education because it will be a very important area in the future. Second, 73.3% of respondents (89.3% of the STEM-related teachers) agreed that robotics education will be worth teaching as a regular subject. The most important reason was that they thought the robots would be an excellent tool to initiate their class participation and increase their study motivation. Third, the results from this survey showed that the technology teachers would be the best suitable instructors for robotics education. Lastly, teachers felt a great deal of burden to teach robotics although they thought robotics education was necessary. In order to implement robotics education in public school, teachers think it is necessary to take professional training. In addition, teachers should be supported with the reduction in their workload along with sufficient fundings, educational robots such as LEGO MINDSTORMS, and newly designed teaching materials.

The positive impacts of robotics education and programming education on learners are similar. However, robotics education differs from programming education because it includes purchasing and building robots that cause financial and cognitive load of learners. Due to these differences, two kinds of education may not possess equal efficacies for all schools or all learning objectives. To verify this hypothesis, we conducted meta-analysis of studies on robotics education published in South Korea to estimate the effect sizes and compare it to that of programming education. The difference between the average effect sizes of robotics education and of programming education was significant, as the former was 0.4060 and the latter 0.6664. The average effect size of programming education was significantly larger than that of robotics education for primary school students. Middle school students achieved the highest results in both robotics education and programming education. Also, robotics education became more effective than programming education as students were older. Analysis on objectives showed that programming education uniformly affected all areas, whereas robotics education had more impact on affective domain than cognitive domain. Robot construction had the largest effect size, followed by robot construction and programming, robot programming, and robot utilization. Programming education has larger positive impacts on students overall compared to robotics education. Robotics education is more effective to upperclassmen than programming education, and improves affective domain of students. Also, robotics education shows higher efficacy when combined with various subjects.

The purpose of this study is to develop technical education programs that integrate robotics and artificial intelligence for employees in the robotics industry. To achieve this, the current status of robotics education programs for employees at domestic robotics institutions was investigated, and a demand survey on integrated robotics and AI education was conducted for domestic robotics companies. Based on the results of the demand survey, a robotics and AI integration education program was developed, and the contents of the designed curriculum and the survey results were presented. The developed education program was applied to the actual industry, and through evaluations of participant satisfaction and learning effectiveness, it was confirmed that the program can be effectively utilized in the industry. Suggestions for further research were also made.
Robots have been widely used for the education in kindergarten and elementary school. In this study, the cognition of parents on robots in education is investigated. The study is conducted by analyzing responses of 105 parents with kindergarten students and elementary schoolchildren. The survey results show that most students who have been taking the robotics education start it from five or seven years old. The students were mainly educated in the private institution. Therefore, the parents worry about the lack of professionalism about educational institute and teachers. In conclusion, the systematic curriculums and policy of robotic education are needed for kindergarten students and elementary students.

This study examined the effects of a robotics curriculum based on "Bee-Bot" on the scientific problem-solving ability on 5-year-old children. A robotics curriculum was also designed to enhance their scientific problem-solving ability. This study examined a 4-week robotics curriculum was conducted 12 times for 4 weeks. For this study, 14 children in kindergarten A in Korea were set up as a treatment group and 18 children in kindergarten B in Korea as a control group. It was found that children in the treatment group who engaged in the robotics curriculum using "Bee-Bot" performed better on scientific problem-solving tests. This finding indicates that an enhanced planning experience using "Bee-Bot" was beneficial for improving young children's scientific problem-solving ability. The implications for designing appropriate curricula using "Bee-Bot" robots for kindergarteners are addressed.
Robots have been attracting students' interest recently. Therefore, they are a good way to motivate to study related subjects. However, there are difficulties in teaching general students because a wide background is required to understand the fundamentals of robotics. In order to teach robotics fundamentals to beginners in a short period, an effective experimental class, including several phased experiments, is proposed in this paper. A portable two-DOF robot arm system with servo motors was developed for experiments, and the operation method based on kinematics was introduced for its operation. The effectiveness of the class was investigated by using a questionnaire after carrying it out in a university class for junior students.

I will introduce robotics education, Novel Engineering, STOMP have hosted in CEEO at Tufts University. CEEO is a leading center for Robotics Education in all over the USA. So far lots of universities and centers have adopted these programs. CEEO have hosted many workshops for students and teachers every summer vacation. And Simple Robotics course is required for every Engineering department freshmen. Novel Engineering(NE) is not familiar to us. I think that NE will be a good tool for integrating reading literacy and engineering. When teachers design a engineering class, members of STOMP help teachers achieve the goals of class. Software Education has been widely spreaded for last several years in South Korea. If our country adopts these programs government-widely. I think that It will be able to contribute to foster SW-talented persons.

A variety of robot education comes out. However, robot associated with the image processing is insufficient. And it is difficult to various education through a robot. Image processing educational robot that is proposed is made by module type hardware, so it's convenient to assemble according to educational purposes with the robot. In image processing, the robot recognizes color and pattern and calculates angle and control four motors. Using the robot, you can learn image processing, how to use MCU and Encoder, related programs and motor control.
This paper introduces several mobile robots developed by using LEGO MIDSTORM for experimental studies of robotics engineering education. The first mobile robot is the line tracer robot that tracks a line, which is a prototype of wheel-driven mobile robots. Ultra violet sensors are used to detect and follow the line. The second robot system is a two-wheel balancing robot that is somewhat nonlinear and complex. For the robot to balance, a gyro sensor is used to detect a balancing angle and PD control is used. The last robot system is a combined system of a line tracer and a two-wheel balancing robot. Sensor filtering and control algorithms are tested through experimental studies.
The purpose of this study is to microscopically analyze the problem solving activities in creative robotics making and programming activity in order to investigate the characteristics of team interaction in accordance with MBTI disposition of team members in the creative robotics making activity in which the engineering education has a lot interest in the recent years. For the prosecution of this study, teams composed of 2 students targeting 30 students who were at the related department of engineering education in the college of eduction, A university located in Daejeon were organized. In addition, individual propensities of team members, in other words, team dynamic structure and team interaction were analyzed through microscopical analysis of the problem solving activities in creative robotics making and programming activity. The results of this study showed that there was a static correlation between the organization of MBTI Heterogeneity team and the interaction of team members, and also there was a positive interaction of team members in organizing MBTI Homogeneity team in area of Thought (T) - Feeling (F). In addition, mutual complement to solve the problems was carried out and the problem-solving capability was shown in the course of the communication along with the organization of MBTI team of extreme heterogeneity.
