I report a simple method to correct the saturation effect in absorption spectra measured in total electron yield (TEY) mode. It does not require additional measurements of the X-ray penetration depth. In order to check the reliability of the method, X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) spectra for polycrystalline Fe were measured at two different incident angles, and then processed with the method. The two resultant XMCD spectra were identical, and their sum rule analysis produced the ratios of orbital magnetic moment to spin magnetic moment, which were very close to the well-known value.

Geophysical methodology using GPR(Ground Penetrating Radar) were applied both to the limestone producing area(Sambo Mine Company & Haksanri Area) and to Landfill area(Mureung Landfill Site). The investigation results resultant from both the limestone producing area(Sambo Mine Company & Haksanri Area) showed that there are a few events reflected from boundaries between caves and basement rocks. Those from landfill area showed that more complicated and small size events are found. These events could be from different electric characteristics of various kinds of composition materials in the landfill site.

An analytical study on the stability of steel plates in the presence of magnetic fields is carried out based on a model which accounts for the nonlinear field-structure interaction. The resultant force system arising from the interaction between the magnetic fields and ferromagnetic plates is derived using the variational principle. The bending and buckling problems of steel plates in oblique magnetic fields are investigated with the aid of the finite element method. Numerical results reveal some interesting features of the magnetoelastic buckling phenomenon.

The H$_{\infty}$ algorithms of the mixed weight sensitivity is used for the robust design of the reactor power control system. The mixed weight sensitivity method requires the selection of the proper weighting functions for the loop shaping in frequency domain. The complexity of the system equation and the non-convexity of the problem make it very difficult to determine the weighting functions. The genetic algorithm which is improved and hybridized with the simulated annealing is applied to determine the weighting functions. This approach permits an automatic calculation and the resultant system shows good robustness and performance.

The waveguide Bragg gratings have been fabricated by the phase-mask method. An excimer laser with maximum 600mJ output pulse energy and uniform phase masks have been used. Hydrogen loading is often used for enhancing the uv photosensitivity of the core, however, the resultant gratings show significant aging effect. In the present study, high temperature thermal annealing process has been investigated to obtain thermal gratings and process parameters are deduced.

In this paper, we present a digital image data compression method using vector quantization preserving edges. A new vector quantization algorithm is proposed using a new sampling method and edge region extraction. The codebook generation time is faster than existing algorithms and the quality of decompressed images is much improved. Extrimental results suggest that the resultant compression ratio and PSNR are better than those of BPVQ and HMVQ methods.

유도전동기의 고주파진동토오크의 산정법에 대하여는 Morrill, Chang, Puchstein Kimball 및 Veinott씨 등에 의한 불평형공간자속분포의 대칭좌표법 또는 2회전자계법해석으로 많은 연구가 거듭되어 기계정수가 고주파토오크에 미치는 영향의 관계를 풀이하고 있다. 또한 Jordan과 Lax씨에 의하여 편심 및 기계적진동에 따른 전자력파의 분포력 mode수 및 그 주파수를 개발함으로서 소음방지대책에 많은 진전을 보았다. 소음진동측정방법으로는 원래 진동측정이 정밀한 장치에 의존하여야 하며 그 방법 또한 어려운 점이 많아 method of 1-point measurement of electromagnetic-force waves로 처리되어 왔으나 요즈음에는 anechoic chamber와 같은 장치에서의 특별한 조작에 의하여 method of resultant measurement of accoustic noise powers에 의하여 보다 합리적인 소음측정 및 해석이 가능하게 되었다.

In this paper we investigate criteria that for an irreducible monic quadratic polynomial f(x) ${\in}$ $\mathbb{Q}$[x], $f{\circ}g$ is reducible over $\mathbb{Q}$ for an irreducible polynomial g(x) ${\in}$ $\mathbb{Q}$[x]. Odoni intrigued the discussion about an explicit form of irreducible polynomials f(x) such that $f{\cric}f$ is reducible. We construct a system of infitely many such polynomials.

In this study, we firstly define equations of motion based on the traditional model Newtonian mechanics in terms of the Frenet frame adapted to the trajectory of the moving particle in Lie groups. Then, we compute energy on the moving particle in resultant force field by using geometrical description of the curvature and torsion of the trajectory belonging to the particle. We also investigate the relation between energy on the moving particle in different force fields and energy on the particle in Frenet vector fields.
