  • This paper presents a new automatic multithreshold selection method which is based on the threshold selection method proposed by Otsu. This method can overcome some of limitations of the Otsu's method. An optimal threshold is selected by the new criterion so as to maximize the separability in all subregions. To get multiple thresholds, the procedure may be recursively applied to the resultant classes which are determined by the proposed evaluation measure.

  • In this study, near the 3-phase power lines with branch lines were formulated. In rectangular coordinates, dependence of branch angle $\alpha$ on electromagnetic field components $B_x,\;B_y,\;B_z$$E_x,\;E_y,\;E_z$ was analyzed. The resultant electromagnetic fields B and E were discussed.

A New Approach to Synthesis and Photoluminescence of Silicon Nanoparticles

  • We describe the synthesis and characterization of silicon nanoparticles prepared by the soluton reduction of SiCl4. These reactions produce Si nanoparticles with surfaces that are covalently terminated. The resultant organic derivatized Si nanoparticles as well as a probable distribution of Water-soluble Si nanoparticles are observed and characterized by photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy. This work focuses originally on the organic- and water-soluble silicon nanoparticles in terms of the photoluminescence. Further this work displays probably the first layout of hydrogen terminated Si nanoparticles synthesized in solution at room temperature.

  • The influence of the adhesive force test conditions on the resultant adhesive force was measured using a chloroprene rubber as an adhesive and a plywood as an adherent. It was clarified from the experiments which adhesive force test conditions could influence strongly the adhesive force. After this, the constant values neccessary as the test conditions of the adhesive force in making generally a test of the adhesive force determined.

  • Unknotting numbers for torus knots and links are well known. In this paper, we present a new approach to determine the position of unknotting number crossing changes in a toric braid such that the closure of the resultant braid is equivalent to the trivial knot or link. Further we give unknotting numbers of more than 600 knots.

  • This paper describes a liner state-space model for a flexible stick balencer. The method employed to generate the model utilizes a separable formulation of assumed modes to represents the transverse displacement due to bending Lagrangian dynamics are applied to determine the kinetic and potential energies for the system. The resultant dynamic equations are then organized into a state space model and linearized using Taylor series expansion method. A minimum order observer is designed to estimate unmeasurable states.

  • A convenient method for the synthesis of ibuproxam, which is a non steroidal antiinflammatory agent, is reported. Friedel-Crafts reaction of isobutylbenzene with ethyl $\alpha$-chloro-$\alpha$-(methylthio)acetate (3) gives ethyl $\alpha$-methylthio-(p-isobutylpheny) acetate (4). Ethyl 2-methylthio-2-(4-isobutylphenyl) propionate (5) is obtained from methylation of the compound (4) with NaH and Mel. lbuproxam (7) is easily synthesized by reductive desulfurization of the compound (5) with zinc dust-acetic acid or Raney nickel, followed by treatment of the resultant ethyl 2-(4-isobutyl-pheny) propionate (6) with H$_{2}$NOH-HCI.

  • A new method for the synthesis of butibufen, which is a non steroidal anti-iriflammatory agent, is described. Butibufen (5) is synthesized by reductive desulfurization of the compound (3) with zinc dust-acetic acid or Raney nickel, followed by hydrolysis of the resultant ethyl 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)butyrate (4).

  • This paper presents the theoretical derivaion relating and image correlationcoeffcient capable of assessing image quality, with phase-error variance in antenna aperture domain. We show that when the phase-error variance of a range bin selected as an adaptive beamformer is known, the quality of the reconstructed image is predictable and moreover, the resultant correlation coeffcient is obviously greater than the derive dlower boudn. To support the derivation, real data are used for image formation where the dominant scatterer algorithm (DSA) is applied for phase compensations.
