ESTHETIC RESTORATION OF ANTERIOR STAINLESS STEEL CROWN WITH COMPOSITE RESIN VENEER (Stainless steel crown 순면위에 레진피복을 이용한 전치부 심미적 수복)

  • Despite dentistry's attempts to improve the dental health of the public and to minimize the effects of caries, many children still present with extensive destruction of primary anterior teeth. One of dentistry's most challenging tasks is to repair these teeth with restoration which are durable, retentive, and esthetic. Esthetic restoration can often be achieved with polycarbonate crowns, strip crowns, conventional S-S crowns, open-faced S-S crowns, commercially veneered S-S crowns. But, all of these have limitation. Advances in restorative materials and metal-bonding procedures have made possible new restorative techniques that combine the advantages of S-S crowns with the cosmetics of composite restoration methods. The described technique of bonding composite to trimmed and fitted S-S crowns offers many advantages over other techniques currently used to restore primary anterior teeth. 1. If S-S crowns are accurate trimmed and contoured, good retention of crowns is achieved. 2. The patient time required is similar to that of conventional S-S crowns. 3. Good esthetics and high bond strengths are achieved. 4. It is possible to use this veneering technique intraorally on crowns that have fractured veneers.

Research Trend of the Analysis and Restoration Study on Traditional Pigments (전통 안료 분석과 복원 연구 현황)

  • In this article, the research trends regarding the analysis and restoration of the pigments applied on colored cultural properties during past 25 years are reviewed and the future research direction in this field of study is proposed. There are over 100 different pieces of the colored cultural property samples that have been analyzed in Korea during the time and are increasing numbers of studies on comparative investigations as well. In addition, new analysis techniques have been introduced to surpass the limitation of the current analysis techniques and the database construction has been developed tremendously, which will enhance the analysis reliability, indicating fast growth in the related research areas. There are also studies on finding new materials to replace the traditional ingredients for producing color pigments and related other materials to overcome the limitation of the traditional ingredients on top of the steady number of studies on reproduction and restoration of the traditional pigments. These various research efforts will bring much development in this area of research. One suggestion to be made is that there need to be long term planned research works for certain type of studies. For instance, the effect to the colored cultural properties due to the environmental change is one of important research topics that should be carefully studied, which requires longer time period and also more patience than the research works in the current and past trends.

A Scanning Electron Microscopic Study for the Effect of the Filling Techniques of Composite Resin on the Marginal Adaptation (복합레진의 충전방법에 따른 변연접합성에 관한 주사전자현미경적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal adaptation of Class V resin restorations by the filling techniques. The cavities were filled with Heliosit$^{(R)}$ light curing composite resin system in accordance with the following three filling techniques - bulk-pack placement technique, apical to occlusal layering placement technique, and buccolingual layering placement technique. And the interface between the restoration and the tooth structure was observed with scanning electron microscope. The following results were obtained. 1. Marginal adaptation of enamel showed excellent irrespective of the filling techniques. 2. Marginal leakage of dentin was observed irrespective of the filling techniques. 3. No difference of marginal adaptation according to the filling techniques was observed in light curing composite resin.

A Study on Replica Restoration Methods through Scientific Analysis of Seongju Lee Family's Portraits (성주 이씨가(家) 초상화의 과학적 분석을 통한 모사복원방안 연구)

  • Materials and techniques used for two portraits (Jo-nyeon Lee and S ung-in Lee) of the Lee family from Seongju enshrined in Seongsan temple were scientifically analyzed, and based on the data, an optimal replica restoration method was designed. According to the expression technique investigation, both portraits were expressed mainly in line drawing, but there were differences in shoes, pupils, the color expression of flesh, overpainting, and traces of reinforcement. Pigment analysis revealed that a mixture of cinnabar and minium, organic pigment, azurite, malachite, lead white, and yellow pigment were used in common. In the case of Sung-in Lee's portrait, seokganju and atacamite were also used. In addition, comparison with the contemporaneous portraits of gentry showed that the portrait style at the time was found in the two portraits, but the singularity was modified differently there. Based on the scientific analysis, it was decided to replicate the old color restoration for Jo-nyeon Lee's portrait while for Sung-in Lee's portrait, it was decided to replicate the phenomenon. Detailed coloring techniques were presented by supplementing the expression techniques that are difficult to confirm visually using scientific data. In addition, by measuring the chromaticity of representative positions in the portrait for each color and presenting the color reference value calculated as the average value, the current color of the artifact can be replicated and restored based on the objective data as much as possible.

  • A singular value decomposition (SVD) pseudo-inversion method has been applied to the image reconstruction from projections. This approach is relatively unknown and differs from conventionally used reconstructioll methods such as the Foxier convolution and iterative techniques. In this paper, two SVD pseudo-inversion methods have been discussed for the search of optimum reconstruction and restoration, one using truncated inverse filtering, the other scalar Wiener filtering. These methods partly overcome the ill-conditioned nature of restoration problems by trading off between noise and signal quality. To test the SVD pseudo-inversion method, simulations were performed from projection data obtained from a phantom using truncated inversefiltering. The results are presented together with some limitations particular to the applications of the method to the general class of 3-D image reconstruction and restoration.

  • This study aims to improve system for the enlargement of artificial planting spaces through grasp several problems about it and related system in domestic and foreign. In order to improve system for the extension of artificial planting spaces in the urban area following plans have been presented. First, it is necessary to launch various bonus, subsidies and incentives for making planting spaces in the urban area. Second, subdivision of related regulations for using diverse planting methods is needed. Third, government has to take the initiative in pushing on with planting of artificial spaces. Fourth, it is necessary to development of concrete techniques. Finally, it is desirable to plant artificial spaces which animal and plant can live, low effect to environment and material can be circulated although the value of plantation as a meaning of simple green also are admitted. Planting of artificial spaces should be introduced in a positive light for conservation and restoration of urban ecosystem.

  • Recently, polymer mortar has been developed not only more improving the performance of modified mortar with polymer, but also protecting and repairing materials of structures, especially in marine environment because of their excellent performance to improve compressive strength, flexural strength, and adhesive strength. however, in fact, these rehabilitation techniques in marine environment, which consist of removing delaminated areas of concrete, cleaning affected steel and patching with polymer mortar, have proven to be ineffective for marine structures. Also, repairs are often repeated every several years. Therefore, it is neccessary to research performance evalution of chloride ion penetration of polymar mortar for section restoration.

  • Crown fractures are relatively common trauma to anterior teeth, and should be restored immediately in most cases. For those who suffer from unfortunate traumatic episode, the best treatment option should be minimally invasive approach. In the presence of fractured tooth fragment, reattachment procedure creates positive emotional response in the patient and simplifies the procedure and maintenance of the patient's original tooth anatomy and occlusion. Without fractured tooth fragment, next conservative option could be direct composite restoration which is based on minimal invasion concept. This article proposes simple and very conservative techniques that anyone can do in daily practice.

  • Signal restoration by linear filters based on the methods of least squares and its generalizations has been studied for many years. However, linear filters are inadequate for signal restoration in many situations. For such cases, nonlinear filters have been proposed and extensively studied recently. In this paper, we briefly review some of the general propoerties of nonlineat filters used for signal processing.

Multiple Mixed Modes: Single-Channel Blind Image Separation

  • As one of the pivotal techniques of image restoration, single-channel blind source separation (SCBSS) is capable of converting a visual-only image into multi-source images. However, image degradation often results from multiple mixing methods. Therefore, this paper introduces an innovative SCBSS algorithm to effectively separate source images from a composite image in various mixed modes. The cornerstone of this approach is a novel triple generative adversarial network (TriGAN), designed based on dual learning principles. The TriGAN redefines the discriminator's function to optimize the separation process. Extensive experiments have demonstrated the algorithm's capability to distinctly separate source images from a composite image in diverse mixed modes and to facilitate effective image restoration. The effectiveness of the proposed method is quantitatively supported by achieving an average peak signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 30 dB, and the average structural similarity index surpassing 0.95 across multiple datasets.
