The Effect of Personality on Psychological Responses Induced by Emotional Stimuli for Children

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between personality and psychological responses induced by emotional stimuli (happiness, sadness, anger, boring and stress) for children. Background: Many researches are interested in assertion that there is close correlation between personality and emotion. The relationship between personality and emotion needs to be studied in view of the extended integration, not in view of respective property, because personality is deeply ingrained, and the relatively enduring patterns of thought, feeling and behavior and emotion can take advantage of individual differences in sensitivities to situational cues and predispositions to emotional state. In particular, studies on the personality and emotion for children are necessary in that childhood is an important period for formation of their personality and emotion expression and regulation. Method: Prior to the experiment, we made parents of 94 children rate personalities of their children, based on Korean Personality Inventory for Children (K-PIC). Results of 64 children without missing answers to all questions were analyzed. 64 children were exposed to five emotional stimuli and were asked to report the classification and intensity of their experienced emotion. Results: Children were classified into two groups of the lower 25% and higher 25% scores in twenty sub-scales of K-PIC, and psychological responses to five emotional stimuli between two groups were compared. Accuracy of emotion experienced by emotional stimuli showed a significant difference between the two groups, the lower and higher scores in Hyperactivity and Adjustment. Also, there was a significant difference in the intensity of experienced emotions between the two groups in Intellectual Screening and Psychosis. Conclusion: Our result has shown that hyperactivity, adjustment, intellectual screening and psychosis influence the accuracy and intensity of emotional responses. Application: This study can offer a guideline to overcome methodological limitation of emotion studies for children and help researcher basically understand and recognize human emotion in HCI.

  • Companies and brands that practice sustainability pay attention to New Media due to its ability to build a sustainable relationship between companies and consumers. The need for research on specific roles, characteristics, and social media effects on eco-friendly advertising has had rapid growth in marketing programs for sustainable activities especially shown through social media. Information about sustainable fashion has spread to consumers through social media, and multifarious efforts have been made to attract the attention of youth. Despite the dramatic increase in eco-friendly marketing through social media as a part of sustainability, there is a lack of research on the major influences of emotional factors such as ad color and expression in social media. In this context, it is meaningful to identify relationships between emotional responses, advertising value and consumer behavior of sustainable fashion brands in Instagram and implement a suitable advertising type (color vs expression) for consumers. We used 366 responses for the final analysis. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, structural equation modeling using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The results of this study suggest that emotional responses, advertising value have a significant effect on the flow. This study expands on a previously limited research field by verifying consumer responses to image advertising on Instagram, rather than general sustainable fashion marketing. The study results also provide meaningful implications for a relation formation between customers and fashion brands vis-${\grave{a}}$-vis sustainable social media marketing.

GA-optimized Support Vector Regression for an Improved Emotional State Estimation Model

  • In order to implement interactive and personalized Web services properly, it is necessary to understand the tangible and intangible responses of the users and to recognize their emotional states. Recently, some studies have attempted to build emotional state estimation models based on facial expressions. Most of these studies have applied multiple regression analysis (MRA), artificial neural network (ANN), and support vector regression (SVR) as the prediction algorithm, but the prediction accuracies have been relatively low. In order to improve the prediction performance of the emotion prediction model, we propose a novel SVR model that is optimized using a genetic algorithm (GA). Our proposed algorithm-GASVR-is designed to optimize the kernel parameters and the feature subsets of SVRs in order to predict the levels of two aspects-valence and arousal-of the emotions of the users. In order to validate the usefulness of GASVR, we collected a real-world data set of facial responses and emotional states via a survey. We applied GASVR and other algorithms including MRA, ANN, and conventional SVR to the data set. Finally, we found that GASVR outperformed all of the comparative algorithms in the prediction of the valence and arousal levels.

도덕적 위반 행동의 결과에 대한 아동의 정서 이해 (Children's Understanding of the Effect of Emotion on Moral Transgressions)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine developmental trends in children's understanding of the effect of emotion on moral transgressions. The subjects were 120 children, 15 boys and 15 girls each at 4, 6, 8, and 10 years of age. The subjects listened to the moral transgression stories which were revised by this investigator based on Arsenio and Kramer's(1992) study. They reported their emotional attribution, justification, and emotional intensity about the story children engaged in moral transgression. The data of the present study were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ and 2-way ANOVA for repeated measures. The results showed that (1) most of the children expected victimizers to feel happy. While happy responses decreased with age, fear responses increased with age. Most of the four-year-olds expected victims to feel sad, but 6-, 8-, and 10-year-olds expected anger. (2) Most children justified victimizers' emotions in terms of the outcome produced by victimization. This outcome-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. In contrast, most children justified victims' emotion in terms of the victimization. This victimization-focused justification decreased with age, but morality-focused justification increased with age. (3) Most children viewed physical harm more negatively than theft on the part of victims.

동작 기반 Autonomous Emotion Recognition 시스템: 감정 유도 자극에 따른 신체 맵 형성을 중심으로 (Motion based Autonomous Emotion Recognition System: A Preliminary Study on Bodily Map according to Type of Emotional Stimuli )

  • 기존 연구에 따르면 감정은 신체 감각 및 신체 움직임과 같은 신체적 변화에 영향을 주고, 감정 자극에 따라 다르게 나타난다고 알려져 있다. 그러나, 감정의 자극에 따른 신체 감각 및 신체 움직임의 활성화 정도 및 Autonomous emotion recognition(AER) 시스템의 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구는 아직 알려져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 20명의 피험자를 대상으로 3가지 종류의 감정 자극(단어, 사진, 영상)을 활용하여 AER 시스템에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 측정 변인으로는 정서적 반응, 컴퓨터 기반 자가 보고, Motion Capture 장비를 통해 측정한 신체 움직임을 활용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 영상 자극이 다른 자극에 비해 더 많은 신체 움직임을 유도하는 것을 확인하고, 영상 자극을 통해 수집한 신체적 특이점이 AER을 위한 분류 정확도 역시 가장 높음을 확인하였다. 신체 움직임을 기반으로 한 감정적 특이점은 행복, 놀람, 분노, 중립 등에서 감정 유도 자극의 종류에 따라 비슷한 패턴이 나타남을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 신체적 변화를 기반으로 한 AER 시스템 연구에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

인공지능 디바이스의 조명효과에 대한 사용자의 감정 평가 분석 (Analysis of Users' Emotions on Lighting Effect of Artificial Intelligence Devices)

  • 인공지능기술은 사용자의 언어, 목소리 톤, 표정을 인지하고 학습하여 다양한 맥락에서 사용자의 감정에 대응할 수 있도록 발전하고 있다. 여러 인공지능 기반 서비스 중에서 특히 사용자와의 커뮤니케이션이 중요한 서비스 다수는 감정을 표현하는 인터랙션을 제공한다. 그러나 인공지능 시스템의 감정을 표현하는 수단으로서의 비언어적 인터랙션에 관한 연구는 아직 미비하다. 이에 조명효과 중 특히 색상과 깜빡임 운동을 중심으로 인공지능 디바이스의 감성 인터랙션을 연구하였다. 본 연구에서 구현한 인공지능 디바이스 프로토타입은 red, yellow, green, blue, purple, white 6가지의 조명 색상과 느림, 중간, 빠른 세 단계 속도의 깜빡임 효과로 감정을 표현한다. 프로토타입을 활용하여 20대부터 30대 남녀 50명을 대상으로 인공지능 디바이스의 색상별, 속도별 조명 효과가 표현하고 있는 감정에 응답하는 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과 각 조명 색상은 기존 색채감성연구에서 드러난 감성적 이미지와 대체로 유사한 감정을 나타내는 것으로 평가되었다. 조명의 깜빡임 속도는 감정의 각성과 밸런스의 변화에 영향을 주었으며, 이때 각성의 변화 양상은 모든 색상에서 유사한 기조를 보였다. 밸런스 변화 양상은 기존 색채감성연구의 감성적 이미지와 어느 정도 관련이 있지만 색상 별 차이가 있는 것으로 관찰되었다. 인공지능 시스템을 탑재한 사물의 종류와 인공지능 디바이스가 점점 다양해지는 현 시점에서, 본 연구결과는 조명을 통한 인공지능의 감성 인터랙션을 설계할 때 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

초등학교 5학년 수학교실에서 교사와 학생의 정체성 분석 (A study on teacher and students' identities in elementary mathematics classroom)

  • Identity is the concept which approaches individuals' affective problems with the social and cultural view. The previous studies on the problems, studied the attitudes, beliefs, or emotions while they restricted the problems to teachers or students' private problems. Otherwise, identities focus on individuals which participate to any community and share its social practices(Mclead, 1994). This study purposed to get an understanding on the teaching and learning mathematics in elementary mathematics classroom with an ethnographic view, while we consider mathematics as a kind of social practices, and mathematics classrooms as communities of practice. We analysed teacher's identities on mathematics and teaching mathematics depending on her responses of the questions as following: How does she think about mathematics, what are the instructional goals in her mathematics classroom, how do students learn mathematics in her mathematics classroom. In addition, we analysed students' identities on mathematics and learning mathematics depending on their responses of the questions as following: What do students think of mathematics, do they like mathematics, why do they study mathematics, how do they feel their mathematics classroom(describe your classroom) and themselves in it(describe yourselves in your classroom), what are their duties and what do they do actually in their mathematics classroom.

대학생의 자기효능감과 결과기대가 진로 탐색에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of College Students' Self-Efficacy and Outcome Expectations on Career Exploration)

  • 본 연구는 대학생의 진로탐색의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 분석하기 위해 이루어졌다. 실증 분석을 위한 연구모형은 사회인지진로모형(SCCT)을 기반으로 대학생의 특성을 반영하여 도출하였다. 자기효능감과 결과기대를 독립변수로 채택하였다. 이에 대한 선행 변수로 성취경험, 언어적 격려, 대리학습, 긍정적 정서를 채택하였다. 실증분석은 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 획득한 217부 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 구조방정식으로 검정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 성취경험, 대리학습, 긍정적 정서는 자기효능감에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 언어적 격려와 긍정적 정서는 결과기대에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 언어적 격려는 자기 효능감에 유의한 영향 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났고, 성취경험과 대리학습은 결과기대에 유의한 영향 관계가 검정되지 않았다. 자기효능감과 결과기대 모두 진로 탐색의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 영향 관계에 있어서는 결과기대가 자기효능감보다 강한 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 실증 분석 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구가 가지는 학술적 및 실무적 시사점을 제시했다.

탐색쾌악주의대망상소비자행위적조절작용(探索快乐主义对网上消费者行为的调节作用) (Investigating the Moderating Impact of Hedonism on Online Consumer Behavior)

  • 考虑到消费者和供应商的利益, 公司利用网络为媒介来沟通并向消费者销售产品. 这一趋势使得很多研究者和实践者都关注网上购物环境这一领域. 本文测试了网上消费者行为和具有不同快乐主义水平的网址的模型. 与以往的研究不同, 我们包括了所有三种情绪(激励, 快乐和支配)并将此运用到模型中. 本研究中, 我们假设网址的外观, 例如背景颜色, 音乐和字体在消费者最初接触到网址时均影响三种情绪(Mazaheri, Richard, and Laroche, 2011). 反之, 这些情绪会影响消费者对网址氛围的感知–网址信息量, 效率和娱乐性的感知. 这些假设与Zajonc (1980)的研究一致. 他认为情感的作用是独立于感性的和认知操作并且可以影响回应. 我们因此提出网址氛围和流量的感知影响消费者对网址和产品的态度, 网址卷入和购买意图. 另外, 我们研究网址的快乐主义水平对模型中所有关系的调节作用. 因此, 我们比较享乐网址路径系数 "高" 和 "低". 我们用39个真实的网站涵盖了12种产品类别(8种服务和4种实物产品)来测试模型. 这其中, 回复者认为20个是高享乐, 19个为低享乐. EQS6.1的结果支持整体模型: x2=1787 (df=504), CFI=.994; RMSEA=.031. 所有假设都是显著的. 另外, 多群组分析表明在高享乐和低享乐网址群组之间的几个非不变量结构路径. 这些结果支持三种情绪影响消费者对网址氛围, 流量和其他消费者行为变量的认知. 我们发现快乐极大的影响这网址态度和网址娱乐性的认知. 激励积极的影响其他两种情绪, 网址信息量的认知和网址卷入. 而且, 激励对流量的影响非常显著. 这些结果说明在支配和消费者对网址效率的认知之间有很强的相关. 支配同时和网址态度和流量相关. 另外, 结果还表明网址卷入和对产品的态度是购买意图最重要的两个因素. 网址信息量和流量也积极的影响购买意图. 多群组分析的结果支持网址快乐主义的调节作用. 与低(高)享乐网址相比, 实用(享乐)属性对其他变量的影响比高(低)享乐网址更强. 在这三种情绪中, 支配(控制感)影响在高享乐网址中更强. 快乐影响在低享乐网址中更强. 而且, 网址信息量的影响对高享乐网址更强. 另一方面, 信息效率对网址信息量认知的影响和网址卷入对产品态度的影响在低享乐网址中更强.

초등학교 아동의 마음에 대한 이해의 사용과 마음관련 지식의 발달 (Children's Development in Applying Theory of Mind and Mind-Related Knowledge)

  • This study was purposed to explore children's development in the theory of mind. Children of age 7, 9 and 11 explained others' good and bad behaviors, and answered to questions about ‘mind’ and ‘heart’ Children's behavior explanations with internal factors, including traits and mental states, were scored and analyzed. The responses of mind-related knowledges were categorized and compared by age. Results showed that children's internal explanations were not different with age, and most of the children explained internally for others' bad behaviors more than for good ones. Secondly, children conceptualized cold-minded ‘mind’ and hot-minded ‘heart’ differentially, but showed developmental differences in mind-related knowledges. It was hard for the younger children to explain ‘mind’ and ‘heart’ Children came to construct their knowledge with age; ‘mind’ including cognitive monitoring, and ‘heart’ working outside the personal emotions.
