Purpose: The concept of respect is rooted in the core value of human relations, and interpersonal relationships with others. The notion of respect in these relationships is entrenched in the broader context of the processes of relationships between professionals and clients in general, along with the philosophical and ethical foundations of respect. Although nursing principles and values, such as autonomy and dignity have built their foundation of care on the concept of respect, these concepts (ie. autonomy and dignity) are still different from respect. Respect within health professional-client relationships, indicates that respect is a fundamental concept within nursing, permeating a number of other concepts that provide purposeful nursing care within the process of nurse-client relationships and respect has been discussed as an ethical and moral concept of care that addresses the values of human dignity in the nursing discipline, however research examining the client s perspectives of respect as an ethical principle of care, especially within Canada s diverse population is non-existent. There is limited research from the client s perspective addressing challenges communicating the concept of respect in relationships between health professionals and clients, specifically research directed at immigrant or the vulnerable population.

Objectives: This study investigates the factors influencing values on life-respect among middle school students. Methods: The participants in this study were 126 students from S middle school and Y middle school, both located in Gyeongnam province. The experimental group consisted of 40 students from S middle school, Control group-Iconsisted of 39 students from S middle school, and Control group-II consisted of 47 students from Y middle school. The experimental group was provided with 12 incidences of the life-respect education program from April 1st to June 29th. One period took 45 minutes and proceeded according to a structure of introduction, development, and consolidation. The experimental group received a life-respect education program, Control group-I received health teaching, but Control group-II didn't receive any special education except what was regularly part of their curriculum. The content of the life-respect education program included the following topics: value of life-respect, respect for human life and ethics, life-respect campaign, having a healthy mind, suicide prevention, dealing with crisis, prevention of school violence, abortion and life-respect, social weak minority consideration, death, brain death, euthanasia, life cycle and task, and forest activities. Questionnaires were administered as pre and post-tests which consisted of questions regarding death anxiety, suicide risk, and values on life-respect. The pre and post-tests were analyzed with t-tests, paired t-tests, ANOVAs, and factor analyses using SPSS 18.0. Results: 1. There was a statistically significant increase in the experimental group(p<.0001) and control group-I(p<0.05) in value and attitude about life-respect. On the other hand, it was shown that there was no difference between pre and post-test in control group-II. 2. The result of examining the differences between pre and post-tests after education on values and attitudes toward life-respect using ANCOVA showed, there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) among the three groups. Conclusion: the life-respect education program which was conducted over 12 meeting with middle school students had an positive effect, which can be used as basic data for fostering values on life-respect. These findings indicate that the life-respect education program this study used is effective for fostering value of life-respect and decreasing suicide risk.
Purpose: This research is a descriptive study to explore "patient respect" in nursing. Respect was analyzed as a concept in the domain of the patient. The Hybrid Model suggested by Schwartz-Barcott and Kim was used in this study. Method: For the theoretical phase, nursing and other literature were reviewed to analyze attributes and develop a working definition of the concept, respect. For the fieldwork phase, four subjects in two general hospitals in Seoul participated. With the participants' permission, the data was collected between January and April, 2002, through in-depth interview and participant observation. The data analysis progressed at the same time as the fieldwork. Data analysis proceeded according to the analysis method of Strauss and Corbin. Result: The final attributes of patient respect are suggested by consideration, recognition, cordial treatment, concern, honesty, acceptance. The final definition of patient respect as a concept in the domain the of patient is suggested by "Patient respect is that the patient is recognized as an individual with worth and is accepted, and considered to be that kind of an individual person. In addition, the patient is recognized to be an independent person and is treated with concern and honesty." Conclusion: The results of the analyses is helpful in integrating into a comprehensive description of the concept, Patient Respect.
Objective: This study examined the change of informal labeling self-respect, depression/anxiety, and aggression of adolescents over time and relationship between the intercept and the growth of the variables. Method: 4-year longitudinal panel data(n=2,699), Korea Youth Panel Survey (KYPS), were analyzed to verify the influence of informal labeling on self-respect, depression/anxiety, and aggression of adolescents. Through latent growth modeling, temporal change of the variables was examined. Results: Analytic results are as follow. First, the initial status of informal labeling had a negative impact on the initial status of self-respect. The slope of informal labeling also had a negative impact on the slope of self-respect. In contrast, the initial status of informal labeling did not have an significant impact on the slope of self-respect. Second, the initial status of informal labeling had a positive impact on the initial status of aggression. The slope of informal labeling had a negative impact on the slope of aggression. In contrast, the initial status of informal labeling did not have an significant impact on the slope of aggression. Third, the initial status of informal labeling had a positive impact on the initial status of depression/anxiety and a negative impact on the slope of depression/anxiety. The slope of informal labeling had a positive impact on the slope of self-respect. Conclusions: The results suggest the importance of informal labeling on self-respect, depression/anxiety, and aggression of adolescents.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived stress. self respect & stress response of high school students to provide the basic data for nursing intervention programs in order to manage stress in students. The subject of this study was 279 students (male; 179. female; 100) in high school. Seoul. Korea. during the period from July. 2000. The instruments for this study was a stress management scale developed by Park Young Ae(l996), a self respect scale by Coopersmith (1967) and a physical. emotional response scale to stress by Ro, Jae Hak(1991). The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test. Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of analysis were as follows: 1) Total perceived stress between males & females didn't show a significant difference but subgroups of stress, 'parent' & 'friend' showed significant differences. Male students were experienced in 'parent' stress than females and female students were more experienced in 'friend' stress than males. 2) A significant negative correlation was revealed between perceived stress & self respect. 3) A significant positive correlation was revealed between self respect & stress response. The result of this study lead us to the suggestion that for high school students. the development of stress management methods for improving self respect should be expanded.
This study aimed to analyze the preference, the factors of benefits sought, and the difference of benefits sought for smart clothing based on demographic characteristics. This survey study used questionnaire. The subjects of the survey consisted of men and women with ages ranging from twenty to fifty years old, who were living in Gyeongnam region. For the collected data analysis, Factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan multiple range tests were used by SPSS 23. The results obtained were as follows. The different analysis results for smart clothing based on demographic characteristics showed a significant difference with respect to marital status, age, monthly income, and occupation, but showed an insignificant difference with respect to gender. The factors of benefits sought for smart clothing were extracted from five factors-pursuit; image innovation and improvement, pursuit of healthcare, pursuit of body protection, pursuit of amusement and pleasure, and pursuit of hi-tech function. The different analysis results of smart clothing according to demographic characteristics showed a significant difference for pursuit of healthcare only with respect to gender, for pursuit of image innovation and improvement, healthcare, amusement and pleasure, and hi-tech function with respect to marital status, for pursuit of image innovation and improvement, healthcare, amusement and pleasure, and hi-tech function with respect to age, for pursuit of healthcare and body protection with respect to monthly income, and for all five factors with respect to occupation.
Objective: This study examined the mediating effect of mother's parenting attitudes on the relationship between mother's parenting stress and respect for children's rights. Methods: The questionnaires were answered by 287 mothers with children aged 1 to 5 attending child-care centers in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and Structural Equation Model. Results: First, parenting stress did not directly affect respect for children's rights. Second, the indirect effect of the mother's parenting stress on respect for children's rights through affectionate parenting attitudes was significant. Third, it was found that parenting stress indirectly affects respect for children's rights through a rejection parenting attitude. Conclusion/Implications: In this study, it was found that mother's parenting stress indirectly affected respect for children's rights through parenting attitude. Based on this result, parent education and programs need to be developed to increase respect for children's rights.
The purpose of this paper is to describe the contents and issues of the draft legislation of Part VI the Carriage by Air of Korean Commercial Code in respect of the domestic carriage of cargo by air, comparing to the related provisions of the Montreal Convention of 1999 for the unification of certain rules for international carriage by air and the related provisions of Korean Commercial Code in respect of the carriage by land and sea. The Montreal Convention in respect of the international carriage by air was adopted in 1999, and Korea has ratified the Montreal Convention in 2007. However, there is now no national legislation in respect of the carriage by air in Korea. Thus, the Ministry of Justice has prepared the draft legislation of Part VI the Carriage by Air of the Korean Commercial Code in July 2008, and the draft legislation is now being reviewed by the National Assembly. The draft provisions of Part VI the Carriage by Air are basically adopting most of the related provisions of the Montreal Convention in respect of the carriage of cargo by air and some draft provisions are applying the related provisions of the Korean Commercial Code in respect of the carriage of cargo by land and sea. In respect of the carriage of cargo by air, the contents of the draft legislation of Part VI the Carriage by Air are composed of the provisions in respect of the liability of the carrier, the rights of the consignor and consignee, the transport document and others. In respect of the carriage of cargo by air, the issues on the draft legislation of Part VI the Carriage by Air are the problems with respect to the extinguishment of the liability of the carrier, the application for the non-contractual claim, the liability limit of the servants or agents of the carrier, the right of disposition of cargo, the effect of breach of the provision in respect of the air transport document, the prescription of claim of the carrier, the immunity reasons from liability of the carrier for the loss or damage of the cargo, the making out of the air waybill, and the effect of the statement of the air transport document. In conclusion, the national legislation of Part VI the Carriage by Air of the Korean Commercial Code will protect the right and interest of the consignor and consignee, and clarify the right and duty of the parties to the air transport. Also it will contribute to the development of the air transport industry in Korea.
The aim of the present paper is to study 3-dimensional trans-Sasakian manifold with respect to semi-symmetric metric connection. Firstly, we prove that extended generalized M-projective 𝜙-recurrent 3-dimensional trans-Sasakian manifold with respect to semi-symmetric metric connection is an 𝜂-Einstein manifold with respect to Levi-Civita connection under some certain conditions. Later we study some curvature properties of 3-dimensional trans-Sasakian manifold admitting the above connection.
In this paper, care-giving teachers' recognition of their activities to increase infants and children's rights respect were studied, and teachers' required actions to enhance infants and children's rights respect were analogized. To conduct this survey, focus group interviews were done for 2 groups' care-giving teachers: each group was constructed with 6 teachers. In care-giving teachers' daily work, respected or non-respected various cases on their infants and children's rights respect were intensively reviewed. From this result, total 12 sub categories and detail 40 items were extracted as care-giving teachers' required activities to activate infants and children's rights respect. The aforementioned teachers' activities must be conducted as top priority at their care-giving activities for infants and children's rights respect.
