  • Microstrip interdigital filter is designed with the width and length of a resonator, the gap distance between resonators and the location of a tap. When designing filters, it is a benefit to design with few design parameters comparing to many design parameters. In this paper we design and implement two microstrip interdigital filters operating in the UWB(Ultra Wide-Band) frequency band, one using a fixed width of a resonator and the other using a different width of resonators. The test results of the implemented filters show that the low-band high filter with a fixed width has the insertion loss of 1.49dB, -10dB band width of 720MHz, -35.7dBattenuation at 4.8GHzand below -13dB of S11. The filter with a different width of resonators has the insertion loss of 1.6dB, -10dBbandwidth of 1.63GHz and below-8dBof S11.

  • New classes of LC resonators for micro magnetic sensor device were proposed and fabricated. The first type LC resonator (Type I) consists of a small piece of microwire and two cylindrical electrodes at the end of the microwire without direct contact to its ferromagnetic core. In type I resonator the ferromagnetic core of the microwire and cylindrical electrodes act as an inductor and two capacitors respectively to form a LC circuit. The second type LC resonator (Type II) consists of a solenoidal micro-inductor with a bundle of soft magnetic microwires as a core. The solenoidal micro-inductors fabricated by MEMS technique were $500\sim1,000\;\mu{m}$ in length with $10\sim20$ turns. A capacitor is connected in parallel to the micro-inductor to form a LC circuit. A tiny glass coated $CO_{83.2}B_{3.3}Si_{5.9}Mn_{7.6}$ microwire was fabricated by a glass-coated melt spinning technique. A supergiant magneto-impedance effect was found in a type I resonator as much as 400,000% by precise tuning frequency at around 518.51 MHz. In type II resonator the changes of inductance as a function of external magnetic field in micro-inductors with properly annealed microwire cores were varied as much as 370%. The phase angle between current and voltage was also strongly dependent on the magnetic field. The drastic increments of magnetoimpedance at near the resonance frequency were observed in both types of LC resonators. Accordingly, the sudden change of the phase angle, as large as $180^{\circ}C$, evidenced the occurrence of the resonance at a given external magnetic field.

  • A superconducting ion-Linac (iLinac), which is supposed to work as the injector in the High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility project, is under development at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The iLinac is a superconducting heavy ion linear accelerator approximately 100 meters long and contains 96 superconducting cavities in two types of 17 cyromodules. Two types of superconducting resonators (quarter-wave resonators with a frequency of 81.25 MHz and an optimal beta β = v/c = 0.07 called QWR007 and half-wave resonators with a frequency of 162.5 MHz and an optimal beta β = 0.15 called HWR015) have been investigated. The cavity design included extensive multi-parameter electromagnetic simulations and mechanical analysis, and its results are described in details. The fundamental power coupler and cavity dynamic tuner designs are also presented in this article. The prototypes are under manufacturing and expected to be ready in 2023.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated C-band bandpass filter using dielectric resonators. From waveguide cutoff frequency which applied the region between adjacent dielectric resonators, the height of cavity is determined. The cavity's diameter is determined to the twice of dielectric resonator? diameter considering the conductor loss. The resonant frequency of the DR cavity is calculated with non decaying mode analysis. Conventionally, cylindrical dielectric resonator is analysed by Cohn's model which use the decaying mode in the region between dielectric resonator wall and circular cavity wall, which is an approximated method. The external quality factor, $Q_{ex}$ has found with simulation result using Ansoft's Maxwell simulation tool. The designed filter using dielectric resonators with dielectric constant of 45 has the passband center at 5.065GHz. The bandpass filter using dielectric resonators has about 1dB insertion loss, 20MHz bandwidth and more than 30dB attenuation at $f_0+15MHz$.

  • In this paper, we present a design of a 5th order Chebyshev interdigital band-pass filter using inverter and susceptance slope parameter values obtained from EM simulated multi-port Y-parameters. The shifted length of the resonator is determined when the frequency of the transmission zero is separated far away from the center frequency. For the initial dimensions of the interdigital filter, the filter is decomposed into the individual resonators, and the dimensions are obtained using EM Simulation of the decomposed resonators. However, the interdigital filter with the dimensions determined from the EM simulation of the decomposed resonators shows slightly distorted response from the desired frequency response due to the coupling between non-adjacent resonators. To obtain a EM simulation dataset, EM simulation for this filter is carried out by parameter sweep with constant ratio for the initial values. In this dataset, it is determined the final values for the filter by optimization. The fabricated filter by PCB shows an upper-shift of center frequency of about 70 MHz, which was caused by permittivity changed and tolerance of fabrication.

  • In this paper, Ka-Band NRD guide band pass filter with newly designed inductive post structure is proposed and analyzed with its test results. Generally, millimeter-wave filters are very sensitive in their physical dimensions, hence, it is requires extreme precisions of several micron so as to get the designed performance. In case of common NRD Guide filter with air gap coupled structure, it is fabricated with dielectric blocks coupled via air gap. In these structures, however, it was not easy to fabricate and to process of each NRD guide dielectric resonator blocks using PTFE, so it was almost impossible to assemble with several microns in precision. In this our research, however, each dielectric resonators are coupled with a pair of inductive metal post, so all resonators are located in a single NRD Guide. The dielectric parts between two pairs of posts are operated as resonators of each stage, and the positions of the post decide the couplings between resonators. The structure we suggested is suitable fur mass production, because it is very simple and easy to process. As a result of measurements, designed NRD guide inductive post filter has a superior performance. The center frequency is 39.475 GHz with 350 MHz bandwidth, insertion loss is less than 1.8 dB, and the return loss is below than -18 dB.
