This paper presents an experimental investigation into the progressive collapse behavior of composite steel-concrete frames under various column removal scenarios. This study involves testing two two-bay, two-story composite frames featuring CFST columns and profiled steel decking composite slabs. Two removal scenarios, involving the corner column and middle column, are examined. The paper reports on the overall and local failure modes, vertical force-deformation responses, and strain development observed during testing. Findings indicate that structural failure initiates due to fracture and local buckling of the steel beam. Moreover, the collapse resistance and ductility of the middle column removal scenario surpass those of the corner column removal scenario. Subsequent numerical analysis reveals the significant contribution of the composite slab to collapse resistance and capacity. Additionally, it is found that horizontal boundary conditions notably influence the collapse resistance in the middle column removal scenario only. Finally, the paper proposes a simplified calculation method for collapse resistance, which yields satisfactory predictions.

Respirators which are not only 99.9 percent or more for removal efficiency and 6 mm in water or less for inhalation resistance, but also 100 percent or less for efficiency of cumulative inhalation resistance, are 3 kinds(15%). Respirators which are not only 95 percent or more for removal efficiency of aerosols and 6 mm in water or less for inhalation resistance, but also 200 percent or less for efficiency of cumulative inhalation resistance and 10 mm in water or less for resistance of moisture inhalation, are 6 kinds(30%) . 4) As standard rrlodel of artificial human head which would be perhaps different from the true one Is used to experiment fitness test, leakage rate is shown to be more or less high. However, artificial human head shall be accurately examined and follow-up studt. would be conducted in the future.
The resistance in series model has been frequently used for determination of various filtration resistance to correctly understand the membrane fouling behaviour in MBR (membrane bio-reactor) for wastewater treatment. The cake layer resistance ($R_c$) which is commonly determined by calculation of flux dataset that are obtained empirically before and after removing the cake layer on membrane surface. However, the calculated Rc values are very dependent on the cleaning methods adapted for removal of cake layer. This study investigated how the various cleaning options affect $R_c$. Seven different cleaning methods were employed: i) ultrasonication (100 W, 10 min), ii) ultrasonication (200 W, 60 min), iii) ultrasonication (400 W, 120 min), iv) water rinsing in a shaker (100 rpm, 10 min), v) water rinsing in a shaker (300 rpm, 60 min), vi) water rinsing, vii) sponge scrubbing. For the hydrophilic PES membrane, the cake layer removal efficiencies ranged from 64% to 10%, indicating that the removal of cake layer was highly dependent on the cleaning options. For the hydrophobic PVDF membrane, the cake layer removal efficiencies ranged from 79% to 97%. Consequently, a standardized method for cake layer removal to determine cake resistance ($R_c$) is needed for correct interpretation of the fouling phenomena.

In order to remove the organic substances and the nitrate-nitrogen contained in wastewater, some researchers have studied the simultaneous removal of organics and nitrogen by using different biocathode microbial fuel cells (MFCs). The operating conditions for removing the contaminants in the MFCs are the external resistances, HRTs, the concentration of the influent wastewater, and other factors. This study aimed to determine the effect of the external resistors and organic loading rates, from the changing HRT, on the removal of the organics and nitrogen and on the production of electric power using the Denitrification Biocathode - Microbial Fuel Cell (DNB-MFC). As regards the results of the study, the removal efficiencies of $SCOD_{Cr}$ did not show any difference, but the nitrate-nitrogen removal efficiencies were increased by decreasing the external resistance. The maximum denitrification rate achieved was $129.2{\pm}13.54g\;NO_3{^-}-N/m^3/d$ in the external resistance $1{\Omega}$, and the maximum power density was $3,279mW/m^3$ in $10{\Omega}$. When the DNB-MFC was operated with increasing influent organic and nitrate loading by reducing the HRTs, the $NO_3{^-}-N$ removal efficiencies were increased linearly, and the maximum nitrate removal rate was $1,586g\;NO^3{^-}-N/m^3/d$ at HRT 0.6 h.
KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) is performing the nation's first biogas-MGT project as an effort to encourage the utilization of wasted biogas which contains useful CH4. The goals of this project are to develop the Pretreatment system of Livestock bio-gas and set up the biogas-MGT co-generation system. The project will not only utilze flared biogas as precious energy but also improve the economics of the plant a lot. The pretreatment system mainly consists of sulfur removal tower, biogas compressor and many filtering systems. A computational fluid dynamics study in the bio gas sulfur removal tower and sulfur absorption filter was carried out. Understanding of the flow in the sulfur removal tower and sulfur adsorption filter obtained by this study can be used to identify the problems in the sulfur removal tower and to improve the sulfur removal efficiency of the sulfur removal tower. Resistance material modeling is used to simulate the sulfur adsorption filter, and the resistance coefficient was adjusted to reflect the experimental pressure loss value. And the pressure loss change with the flowrate is predicted

This paper is to investigate the spalling and fire endurance of high performance RC column member with PP fiber and lateral confinement of metal lath and non fire resistance removal type form. According to test results, combination of PP fiber and metal lath as well as use fire resistance non removal type form had favorable fire resistance by discharging internal vapour pressure and lateral confining. After fire endurance test, compressive strength decreased markedly caused by internal expansion pressure and crack. Residual strength of plain concrete was decreased to $22\%$. The use of PP fiber and lateral confinement of metal lath and non removal type form enhanced the residual strength above $40\%$. Especially, the combination of $0.1\%$ of PP fiber and lateral confinement with the level of 2.3T exhibited more than $51\%$ of residual strength. Therefore, to improve fire endurance and spalling resistance, the combination of $0.1\%$ of PP fiber and metal lath with 2.3T can be the proper measure.
The purpose of this study is to compare CT (disinfectant concentration * time) values in removing the antibiotic resistance bacteria, antibiotic resistance gene and transfer of antibiotic resistance genes. Different concentration of chlorine(C) and contact time(T) according to the removal of antibiotic resistance was calculated for each. As a result, for the 90% removal of antibiotic resistant bacteria, around 176~353 mg min/L CT values are needed. For the removal of the antibiotic resistance gene, 195~372 mg min/L CT values are required. For the 90% reduction of antibiotic resistance gene transfer by chlorine disinfection, 187~489 mg min/L CT values are needed. Based on our results, higher CT value was required for removing antibiotic resistant genes rather than antibiotic resistance bacteria.

So far analytical methods on collapse assessment of three-dimensional (3-D) steel frames have mainly focused on a single-column-removal scenario. However, the collapse of the Federal Building in the US due to car bomb explosion indicated that the loss of multiple columns may occur in the real structures, wherein the structures are more vulnerable to collapse. Meanwhile, the General Services Administration (GSA) in the US suggested that the removal of side columns of the structure has a great possibility to cause collapse. Therefore, this paper analytically deals with the robustness of 3-D steel frames in a two-side-column-removal (TSCR) scenario. Analytical method is first proposed to determine the collapse resistance of the frame during this column-removal procedure. The reliability of the analytical method is verified by the finite element results. Moreover, a design-based methodology is proposed to quickly assess the robustness of the frame due to a TSCR scenario. It is found the analytical method can reasonably predict the resistance-displacement relationship of the frame in the TSCR scenario, with an error generally less than 10%. The parametric numerical analyses suggest that the slab thickness mainly affects the plastic bearing capacity of the frame. The rebar diameter mainly affects the capacity of the frame at large displacement. However, the steel beam section height affects both the plastic and ultimate bearing capacity of the frame. A case study on a six-storey steel frame shows that the design-based methodology provides a conservative prediction on the robustness of the frame.
In this study, performance (particle removal efficiency and breathing resistance) of several commercially available face masks (electrostatic filter masks (KF80 certified), a nanofiber filter mask (KF80 certified), and an uncertified mask) with their filter structure and composition were evaluated. Also, effects of relative humidity (RH) of incoming air, water and alcohol exposure, and reusability on performance of face masks were examined. Monodisperse and polydisperse sodium chloride particles were used as test aerosols. Except the uncertified mask filter, PM2.5 removal efficiency was found to be higher than 90%, and the nanofiber filter mask had the highest quality factor due to the low pressure drop and high removal efficiency (nanofibers were arranged in a densely packed pore structure and contained a significant amount of fluorine in addition to carbon and oxygen). In the case of the KF80 certified mask, the removal efficiency was little affected when the RH of incoming air increased. When the mask filters were soaked in water, the removal efficiency of mask filters was degraded. In particular, the uncertified mask filter showed the highest removal efficiency degradation (26%). When the mask was soaked in alcohol, the removal efficiency also decreased with the greater degree than the water soaking case. The nanofiber mask filter showed the strongest resistance to alcohol exposure among tested mask filters. During evaluation of reusability of masks in real life, the removal efficiency of certified mask filter was less than 4% for 5 consecutive days (2 hours per day), while the removal efficiency of uncertified mask filter significantly decreased by 30% after 5 days.

Copper (Cu) has been widely used for interconnection structure in intergrated circuits because of its properties such as a low resistance and high resistance to electromigration compared with aluminuim. Damascene processing for the interconnection structure utilizes 2-steps chemical mechanical polishing(CMP). After polishing, the removal of abrasive particles on the surfaces becomes as important as the polishing process. In the paper, buffing process for the removal of colloidal silica from polished Cu wafer was proposed and demonstrated.
