Induction motors are relatively cheap and rugged machines. For the vector control of induction motors, a position or speed sensor is needed. But a speed sensor increases motor cost and reduces reliability in harsh environment. Recently, many studies have been performed for sensorless speed control. This paper investigates an improved flux observer with the parameter error compensation for a sensorless induction motor. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment.

The time optimal position control scheme can be repeatedly taken from the initial state of a dynamic system to a desired one as fast as possible at the industrial drives. In this case, the machine parameters will vary due to temperature, frequency, and saturation effects. In particular, the rotor resistance value changes dramatically with temperature and frequency. These changes affect the command values of the stator current components and slip speed. There is a mismatch between the commanded variables and actual variables of the induction motor drive, and this situation leads to decoupling of the vector controller from the plant, i.e the induction motor. Consequences of such decoupling include the initiation of oscillations of the rotor flux and unsuitable switching of electromagnetic torque of the induction motor servo drive. Therefore, a rotor resistance parameter compensating method for the induction motor is described.
Riboflavin caused induction of systemic resistance in chickpea against Fusarium wilt and charcoal rot diseases. The dose effect of 0.01 to 20 mM riboflavin showed that 1.0 mM concentration was sufficient for maximum induction of resistance; higher concentration did not increase the effect. At this concentration, riboflavin neither caused cell death of the host plant nor directly affected the pathogen's growth. In time course observation, it was observed that riboflavin treated chickpea plants were inducing resistance 2 days after treatment and reached its maximum level from 5 to 7 days and then decreased. Riboflavin had no effect on salicylic acid(SA) levels in chickpea, however, riboflavin induced plants found accumulation of phenols and a greater activities of phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL) and pathogenesis related(PR) protein, peroxidase was observed in induced plant than the control. Riboflavin pre-treated plants challenged with the pathogens exhibited maximum activity of the peroxidases 4 days after treatment. Molecular weight of the purified peroxidase was 42 kDa. From these studies we demonstrated that riboflavin induced resistance is PR-protein mediated but is independent of salicylic acid.
The parasitic weed, Orobanche crenata, is one of the most devastating constraint for faba bean production in Mediterranean regions. Plant host defense induction was reported as one of the most appropriate control methods in many crops. The aim of this study was to elucidate the effect of salicylic acid (SA) and indole acetic acid (IAA) on the induction of faba bean resistance to O. crenata under the field and controlled experimental conditions. Both hormones were tested on two contrasting faba bean genotypes: Giza 843 (partially resistant to O. crenata) and Lobab (susceptible) at three different application methods (seed soaking, foliar spray, and the combination of both seed soaking and foliar spray). Soaking seeds in SA or IAA provided the highest protection levels reaching ~75% compared to the untreated control plants. Both elicitors limited the chlorophyll content decrease caused by O. crenata infestation and increased phenolic compound production in host plants. Phenylalanine ammonia lyase, peroxidase, and polyphenol oxidase activities were stimulated in the host plant roots especially in the susceptible genotype Lobab. The magnitude of induction was more obvious in infested than in non-infested plants. Histological study revealed that both SA and IAA decreased the number of attached O. crenata spikes which could be related to specific defense responses in the host plant roots.
To evaluate the spreading possibilities of the marRAB mutation of E. coli Mar mutant among gram-negative bacilli, chromosomal marRAB mutations of Mar mutants were transduced by $\lambda$placMu9 into pUC19 (Lac$^{+}$, Ap$^{r}$) cloning site in another strains of E. coli or onto the chrmosome of S. typhimurium and P. aeruginosa, selected for transduction by Mar phenotype, Lac$^{-}$, or Ap$^{r}$, and tested for their antimicrobial resistance with or without addition of salicylate (SAL). Compared with wild type strains of JM109, NM522, harboring pUC19 or not, respectively, all strains of JM109 or NM522 carrying pUC19::marRAB mutation showed higher levels of antimicrobial resistance and SAL induction of Mar phenotype than those of wild type. However, in contrast to the original Mar mutants, there were some tendencies of decreased antimicrobial resistance of JM109 or NM522 harboring pUC19::marRAB mutation with SAL induction against chlorarnphenicol (Cm) and tetracycline (Tc), or Tc and ciprofloxacin (Cp), respectively. Almost the same results, as shown as the cases of E. coli JM109 or NM522, were obtained from all transductants of S. typhimurium and P. aeruginosa, except Cp, against which increased antimicrobial resistance with SAL induction was shown. This study, employed the methods of transformation or transduction among intercellular gene transfer methods between gram-negative bacteria, shows the evidences that suggest indirectly the spreading possibilities of marRAB mutation among gram-negative bacilli.
The equivalent circuit of LIM is generally composed as the same that of rotary induction motor. However it is very difficult to move the LIM at synchronous velocity for open-secondary circuit test. The resistance representing the core losses in the primary core can not be ignored because the air-gap of LIM is larger than that of rotary induction motor. In this paper, the T-type equivalent circuit of a LIM with the core loss resistance is chosen using static zero slip test and theoritical analysis.
Carcinogenesis is extremely complex. Therefore, it is paradoxical but nonetheless important in cancer research if, in an animal whose parental strains are normally sensitive to cancer induction, we could find mutant strains which are resistant to various carcinogens as a result of mutations in one or two genes. No such mutants have been reported so far as I am aware but we do know that at early stages in their development, fish, mice, and humans are highly resistant to cancer induction by chemicals and radiation. I will give a brief overview of the stage-dependent resistance of fish, mice and humans to cancer induction and discuss the stem-cell mutation theory to explain the cancer-resistant stages. Finally, the latent period of induced neoplasms will be discussed in relation to the stem-cell mutation theory.

In this paper, we propose vehicle running characteristic simulator. The developed simulator is configured by two induction motors which are directly coupled with each other. One motor is to simulate the vehicle drive and another motor is to simulate the vehicle dynamic load including running resistance, gradient resistance and adhesive characteristics between rail and wheel. The running characteristics of vehicle are modeled by numerical formulas. These are programed by software of embedded controller. Thus, it is possible to change several running characteristics during the running test freely and instantly. To evaluate the feasibility of the simulator, the experiments on slip and adhesion coefficient are performed. Additionally the adhesion control and speed control of vehicle are tested with simulator. Experimental results show that the simulator can produce the driving characteristics similar to the vehicle system.
This paper examines the effects of magnetic induction attenuation on current distribution in the exit regions of the Faraday-type, non-equilibrium plasma Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generator by numerical calculation using cesium-seeded helium. Calculations show that reasonable magnetic induction attenuation creates a very uniform current distribution near the exit region of generator channel. Furthermore, it was determined that the current distribution in the middle part of generator is negligible, and the output electrodes can be used without large ballast resistors. In addition, the inside resistance of the exit region and the current concentration at the exit electrode edges, both decrease with the attenuation of magnetic flux density. The author illustrates that the exit electrodes of the diagonal Faraday-type, non-equilibrium plasma MHD generator should be arranged in the attenuation region of the magnetic induction, in order to improve the electrical parameters of the generator.
A constant V/F control system of voltage contrlled PWM inverter has a unstable operation of the low- speed and the light-load. In this paper, the authors propose stability control with idealized operation of induction motor by the neglect of primary leakage inductance and resistance. Also ldealized operation system is adopted voltage error, feed back impedance circuit, and increasing resistance from dead time of switching is compensated by the soft ware with u-processors. The proposed simulation of the idealized control method is proved at the low-speed operation for three phase induction motor.
