잔류응력 부과에 의한 광디스크의 임계속도 증가 (Critical-speed Increase of Optical Disk by Applying Residual Stresses)

  • 현재 광디스크 드라이브는 오랜 기간 지속된 산업계의 데이터 전송률 경쟁을 통하여 10,000 rpm 이상의 고속으로 구동되고 있다. 고속 구동은 필연적으로 시스템의 진동을 유발하여 픽업의 데이터 읽기/쓰기 서보 제어에 외란을 야기하는데, 통상 진동외란은 방진고무를 통한 진동의 절연 및 서보 제어의 강인성 개선을 통해 해결되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 산업계에서 일상으로 이루어지는 광디스크 드라이브 시스템의 동특성 개선에서 한걸음 더 나아가 광디스크의 동특성을 개선하는데 주목하였다. 이를 위하여 사출성형 공정해석을 수행하여 공정 조건(유량, 사출온도)이 잔류응력에 미치는 영향을 조사하였고, 이 잔류응력의 변화가 광디스크의 진동 모드 및 임계속도 즉, 동특성에 미치는 영향을 모달해석을 통해 살펴보았다. 이러한 일련의 과정을 통해 사출성형 시 발생하는 광디스크의 잔류응력을 제어하여 광디스크의 임계속도를 잔류응력이 없는 경우 대비 약 14.4% 높일 수 있음을 확인하였다.

비대칭 손상 선박의 잔류 종강도 평가 (Residual Longitudinal Strengths of Asymmetrically Damaged Ships)

  • This paper presents estimation of deterministic damage extents and locations due to collision and grounding which are defined by ABS guideline and DNV ship rules. It is noted that the overall extents of damages from DNV are larger than those from ABS. Nonlinear FEAs are carried out to predict residual longitudinal strength of hull girder with asymmetric severe damages. The accuracy of the applied FEA procedure is proved by comparing FEA result with test result of a 1/3-scaled frigate. The investigated vessels are a VLCC and a large-sized bulker for which evenly distributed heeling angles from $0^{\circ}$(sagging) to $180^{\circ}$(hogging) by $30^{\circ}$ due to damage-induced flooding are taken into account. The reduction ratios of the ultimate residual strength for the damaged cases to those for the intact sagging case are shown. It is proved that the grounding damage case under DNV assumption reveals most critical the residual strength. The design formulas are presented to assure minimum residual ultimate moment after damage.

입방정 질화붕소 박막의 잔류응력 형성에 미치는 산소 첨가 효과 (Effect of Oxygen Addition on Residual Stress Formation of Cubic Boron Nitride Thin Films)

  • In this study we investigated the oxygen effect on the nucleation and its residual stress during unbalanced magnetron sputtering. Up to 0.5% in oxygen flow rate, cubic phase (c-BN) was dominated with extremely small fraction of Hexagonal phase (h-BN) of increasing trend with oxygen concentration, whereas hexagonal phase is dominated beyond 0.75% flow rate. Interestingly, the residual stress in cubic-phase-dominated films was substantially reduced with small amount of oxygen (${\sim}0.5%$) down to a low value comparable to the h-BN case. This may be because oxygen atoms break B-N $sp^3$ bonds and make B-O bonds more favorably, increasing $sp^2$ bonds preference, as revealed by FTIR and NEXAFS. It was confirmed by experimental facts that the threshold bias voltage for nucleation and growth of cubic phase were increased from -55 V to -70 V and from -50 V to -60 V respectively. The reduction of residual stress in O-added c-BN films is seemingly resulting from the microstructure of the films. The oxygen tends to increase slightly the amount of h-BN phase in the grain boundary of c-BN and the soft h-BN phase of 3D network including surrounding nano grains of cubic phase may relax the residual stress of cubic phase.

QAM 신호에서 Constellation Reduction을 이용한 MMA 적응 등화 알고리즘의 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of MMA Adaptive Equalization Algorithm by using the Constellation Reduction in QAM Signal)

  • 본 논문은 비선형 통신 채널에서 발생되는 부호간 간섭을 줄일 수 있는 MMA (Multiple Modulus Algorithm) 적응 등화 알고리즘에서 constellation reduction 개념을 적용하여 등화 성능을 개선하는 CR-MMA (Constellation Reduction-MMA) 에 관한 것이다. MMA 적응 등화기의 탭 계수 갱신시에는 등화기 출력를 이용하여 오차 신호를 얻게 되는데, 이때 송신 신호의 order가 높아질수록 오차 성분이 크게 되어 성능이 저하된다. 그러나 constellation reduction을 이용하면, 고차의 QAM 신호도 4-QAM 신호 성상도로 reduction시켜 오차 신호를 얻으므로 이의 크기가 감소되어 개선된 성능으로 등화가 가능하게 된다. 제안하는 CR-MMA 알고리즘의 성능을 기존의 MMA 알고리즘과 비교하기 위하여 동일한 채널과 잡음 환경하에서 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 이를 위해 수신측에서의 등화기 출력 신호인 복원된 신호 성상도, 수렴 성능을 나타내는 잔류 isi, MD learning 곡선과 잡음에 대한 강인성을 확인하기 위하여 SER을 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 모든 성능 지수에서 CR-MMA가 MMA 보다 우월하였으며, SER 성능에서 잡음에 대한 roburstness가 매우 강함을 확인하였다.

웨이브렛 변환을 이용한 음성의 적응 잡음 제거 (Adaptive Noise Reduction of Speech Using Wavelet Transform)

  • 본 논문은 잡음 환경의 음성 인식을 위하여 음성에 부가된 잡음을 제거하는 방법으로 프레임 단위로 웨이브렛 변환을 하여 웨이브렛 계수의 표준편차를 이용하여 시간 적응 임계값을 정하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 음성의 특성을 고려하기 위하여 고주파 성분을 많이 가지는 무성음의 경우는 첫 번째 스케일의 detail 신호에서, 저주파 성분을 많이 가지는 유성음의 경우는 세 번째 스케일의 approximation 신호의 표준편차를 이용하여 시간 적응 임계값을 설정하였다 또한 제안한 방법으로 잡음을 제거한 후에도 묵음구간에 잔여 잡음이 존재하게 되므로 묵음구간을 검출하여 묵음구간의 잔여 잡음을 제거하였다 실험을 통해 제안한 방법이 일반적인 웨이브렛 변환과 웨이브렛 패킷 변환을 이용한 방법보다 SNR과 MSE측면에서 향상됨을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • The mechanism of soil-geotextile system has been studied among researchers since the application of geotextile as a replacement of graded granular filters is rapidly growing. The interaction of soils with geotextile is rather complicated so that its design criteria are mostly based on empiricism. Hence, it is essential to study the characteristics of fine particles transport into geotextile induced by the groundwater flow In this study, the permeability reduction in the soil-filter system due to clogging phenomenon is evaluated. An extensive research program is performed using two typical weathered residual soils which are sampled at Shinnae-dong and Poi-dong area in Seoul. Two separate simulation tests with weathered residual soil are peformed: the one is the filtration test(cross-plane flow test): and the other is the drainage test(in-plane flow test). Needle punched non-woven geotextiles are selected since it is often used as a drainage material in the field. The compatibility of the soil-filter system is investigated with emphasis on the clogging phenomenon. The hydraulic behaviour of the soil-filter system is evaluated by changing several testing conditions.

Nonlinear spectral design analysis of a structure for hybrid self-centring device enabled structures

  • Seismic dissipation devices can play a crucial role in mitigating earthquake damages, loss of life and post-event repair and downtime costs. This research investigates the use of ring springs with high-force-to-volume (HF2V) dissipaters to create damage-free, recentring connections and structures. HF2V devices are passive rate-dependent extrusion-based devices with high energy absorption characteristics. Ring springs are passive energy dissipation devices with high self-centring capability to reduce the residual displacements. Dynamic behaviour of a system with nonlinear structural stiffness and supplemental hybrid damping via HF2V devices and ring spring dampers is used to investigate the design space and potential. HF2V devices are modelled with design forces equal to 5% and 10% of seismic weight and ring springs are modelled with loading stiffness values of 20% and 40% of initial structural stiffness and respective unloading stiffness of 7% and 14% of structural stiffness (equivalent to 35% of their loading stiffness). Using a suite of 20 design level earthquake ground motions, nonlinear response spectra for 8 different configurations are generated. Results show up to 50% reduction in peak displacements and greater than 80% reduction in residual displacements of augmented structure compared to the baseline structure. These gains come at a cost of a significant rise in the base shear values up to 200% mainly as a result of the force contributed by the supplemental devices.

장력법을 적용한 선체 박판블록의 변형감소 방안에 관한 실험연구 (On the Deformation Control of Ship's Thin Plate Block by Applying the Tensioning Method)

  • It has been well appreciated that reducing weld-induced deformation as law as possible is important during fabrication for a more efficient production of blocks. The weld-induced deformation is more serious in thin plates than in thick plates because heat affect zone of thin plates is wider than that of thick plates and in addition internal and external constraints much more influence upon weld-induced deformation of thin plates. This paper deals with the application of the mechanical tensioning method to butt weld of thin plates to reduce the weld-induced deformation. In order to investigate the quantitative effect of tensioning method upon the reduction of angular deformation and shrinkage in longitudinal and transverse direction of weld line, butt welding test have been carried out for several thin plate specimens with varying plate thickness and magnitude of tensile load. From the present experimental study, it has been found that the tensioning method is very effective on reduction of weld-induced residual stress as well as weld-induced deformation.
