Lithium-ion batteries are the heart of energy-storing devices and electric vehicles. Owing to their superior qualities, such as high capacity and energy efficiency, they have become quite popular, resulting in an increased demand for failure/damage prevention and useable life maximization. To prevent failure in Lithium-ion batteries, improve their reliability, and ensure productivity, prognosticative measures such as condition monitoring through sensors, condition assessment for failure detection, and remaining useful life prediction through data-driven prognostics and health management approaches have become important topics for research. In this study, the residual useful life of Lithium-ion batteries was predicted using two efficient artificial recurrent neural networks-ong short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). The proposed approaches were compared for prognostics accuracy and cost-efficiency. It was determined that LSTM showed slightly higher accuracy, whereas GRUs have a computational advantage.
In this study, the machine learning which has been widely used in prediction algorithms recently was used. the research point was the CD(chudong) point which was a representative point of Daecheong Lake. Chlorophyll-a(Chl-a) concentration was used as a target variable for algae prediction. to predict the Chl-a concentration, a data set of water quality and quantity factors was consisted. we performed algorithms about random forest and gradient boosting with Python. to perform the algorithms, at first the correlation analysis between Chl-a and water quality and quantity data was studied. we extracted ten factors of high importance for water quality and quantity data. as a result of the algorithm performance index, the gradient boosting showed that RMSE was 2.72 mg/m3 and MSE was 7.40 mg/m3 and R2 was 0.66. as a result of the residual analysis, the analysis result of gradient boosting was excellent. as a result of the algorithm execution, the gradient boosting algorithm was excellent. the gradient boosting algorithm was also excellent with 2.44 mg/m3 of RMSE in the machine learning hyperparameter adjustment result.

Energy consumption has grown alongside dramatic population increases. Statistics show that buildings in particular utilize a significant amount of energy, worldwide. Because of this, building energy prediction is crucial to best optimize utilities' energy plans and also create a predictive model for consumers. To improve energy prediction performance, this paper proposes a ResNet-LSTM model that combines residual networks (ResNets) and long short-term memory (LSTM) for energy consumption prediction. ResNets are utilized to extract complex and rich features, while LSTM has the ability to learn temporal correlation; the dense layer is used as a regression to forecast energy consumption. To make our model more robust, we employed Huber loss during the optimization process. Huber loss obtains high efficiency by handling minor errors quadratically. It also takes the absolute error for large errors to increase robustness. This makes our model less sensitive to outlier data. Our proposed system was trained on historical data to forecast energy consumption for different time series. To evaluate our proposed model, we compared our model's performance with several popular machine learning and deep learning methods such as linear regression, neural networks, decision tree, and convolutional neural networks, etc. The results show that our proposed model predicted energy consumption most accurately.
In this paper we back-analyze a failure event of a 9 m high concrete cantilever wall subjected to earth loading. Granular soil was deposited into the space between the wall and a nearby rock slope. The wall segments were not designed to carry lateral earth loading and collapsed due to excessive bending. As many geotechnical programs rely on the Mohr-Coulomb (MC) criterion for elastoplastic analysis, it is useful to apply this failure criterion to the concrete material. Accordingly, the back-analysis is aimed to search for the suitable MC parameters of the concrete. For this study, we propose a methodology for accelerating the back-analysis task by automating the numerical modeling procedure and applying a machine-learning (ML) analysis on FE model results. Through this analysis it is found that the residual cohesion and friction angle have a highly significant impact on model results. Compared to traditional back-analysis studies where good agreement between model and reality are deemed successful based on a limited number of models, the current ML analysis demonstrate that a range of possible combinations of parameters can yield similar results. The proposed methodology can be modified for similar calibration and back-analysis tasks.

In an era marked by the increasing use of drones and the growing demand for indoor surveillance, the development of a robust application for detecting and tracking both drones and humans within indoor spaces becomes imperative. This study presents an innovative application that uses FMCW radar to detect human and drone motions from the cloud point. At the outset, the DBSCAN (Density-based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise) algorithm is utilized to categorize cloud points into distinct groups, each representing the objects present in the tracking area. Notably, this algorithm demonstrates remarkable efficiency, particularly in clustering drone point clouds, achieving an impressive accuracy of up to 92.8%. Subsequently, the clusters are discerned and classified into either humans or drones by employing a deep learning model. A trio of models, including Deep Neural Network (DNN), Residual Network (ResNet), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), are applied, and the outcomes reveal that the ResNet model achieves the highest accuracy. It attains an impressive 98.62% accuracy for identifying drone clusters and a noteworthy 96.75% accuracy for human clusters.

With the development of deep learning technology and advances in computing power, video-based research is now gaining more and more attention. Video data contains a large amount of temporal and spatial information, which is the biggest difference compared with image data. It has a larger amount of data. It has attracted intense attention in computer vision. Among them, motion recognition is one of the research focuses. However, the action recognition of human in the video is extremely complex and challenging subject. Based on many research in human beings, we have found that artificial intelligence-like attention mechanisms are an efficient model for cognition. This efficient model is ideal for processing image information and complex continuous video information. We introduce this attention mechanism into video action recognition, paying attention to human actions in video and effectively improving recognition efficiency. In this paper, we propose a new 3D residual attention network using convolutional neural network based on two attention models to identify human action behavior in the video. An evaluation result of our model showed up to 90.7% accuracy.
Recently, many deep convolutional neural networks for image super-resolution have been studied. Existing deep learning-based super-resolution algorithms are architecture that up-samples the resolution at the end of the network. The post-upsampling architecture has an inefficient structure at large scaling factor result of predicting a lot of information for mapping from low-resolution to high-resolution at once. In this paper, we propose a single image super-resolution using Channel Attention Residual Dense Block based on an iterative up-down sampling architecture. The proposed algorithm efficiently predicts the mapping relationship between low-resolution and high-resolution, and shows up to 0.14dB performance improvement and enhanced subjective image quality compared to the existing algorithm at large scaling factor result.

This paper related with the performance evaluation of mDSE-MMA adaptive equalization algorithm which is possible to reduce the distortion that occurs in nonlinear communication channel like as additive noise, intersymbol interference and fading when transmitting the QAM signal. The DSE-MMA algorithm is possible to reduce the computational load compared to the presently MMA algorithm, it has the degraded equalization performance by this. In order to improve the performance degradation of DSE-MMA, the mDSE-MMA controls the step size according to the existence of arbitrary radius circle of equalizer output is centered at transmitted symbol point. The performance of proposed mDSE-MMA algorithm were compared to present DSE-MMA using the same channel and noise environment by computer simulation. For this, the recoverd signal constellation which is the output of equalizer, residual isi and MD, MSE learning curve which is represents the convergence performance and SER were applied as performance index. As a result of simulation, the mDSE-MMA has more superior to the DSE-MMA in every performance index.

Recently, high-resolution images can be easily acquired using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), so that it is possible to produce small area observation and spatial information at low cost. In particular, research on the generation of cover maps in crop production areas is being actively conducted for monitoring the agricultural environment. As a result of comparing classification performance by applying RF(Random Forest), SVM(Support Vector Machine) and CNN(Convolutional Neural Network), deep learning classification method has many advantages in image classification. In particular, land cover classification using satellite images has the advantage of accuracy and time of classification using satellite image data set and pre-trained parameters. However, UAV images have different characteristics such as satellite images and spatial resolution, which makes it difficult to apply them. In order to solve this problem, we conducted a study on the application of deep learning algorithms that can be used for analyzing agricultural lands where UAV data sets and small-scale composite cover exist in Korea. In this study, we applied DeepLab V3 +, FC-DenseNet (Fully Convolutional DenseNets) and FRRN-B (Full-Resolution Residual Networks), the semantic image classification of the state-of-art algorithm, to UAV data set. As a result, DeepLab V3 + and FC-DenseNet have an overall accuracy of 97% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.92, which is higher than the conventional classification. The applicability of the cover classification using UAV images of small areas is shown.
This study estimated land prices using instance-based learning. A k-nearest neighbor method was utilized among various instance-based learning methods, and the 10 distance metrics including Euclidean distance were calculated in k-nearest neighbor estimation. One distance metric prediction which shows the best predictive performance would be normally chosen as final estimate out of 10 distance metric predictions. In contrast to this practice, an ensemble technique which combines multiple predictions to obtain better performance was applied in this study. We applied the gradient boosting algorithm, a sort of residual-fitting model to our data in ensemble combining. Sales price data of farm lands in Haenam-gun, Jeolla Province were used to demonstrate advantages of instance-based learning as well as an ensemble technique. The result showed that the ensemble prediction was more accurate than previous 10 distance metric predictions.
