This note proposes a robust LQR method for systems with structured real parameter uncertainty based on Riccati equation approach. Emphasis is on the reduction of design conservatism in the sense of quadratic performance by utilizing the uncertainty structure. The class of uncertainty treated includes all the form of additive real parameter uncertainty, which has the multiple rank structure. To handle the structure of uncertainty, the scaling matrix with block diagonal structure is introduced. By changing the scaling matrix, all the possible set of uncertainty structures can be represented. Modified algebraic Riccati equation (MARE) is newly proposed to obtain a robust feedback control law, which makes the quadratic cost finite for an arbitrary scaling matrix. The remaining design freedom, that is, the scaling matrix is used for minimizing the upper bound of the quadratic cost for all possible set of uncertainties within the given bounds. A design example is shown to demonstrate the simplicity and the effectiveness of proposed method.
This paper is aimed at studying a historical background of graph theory and we deal with the computer representation of graph through a simple example. Graph is represented by adjacency matrix, edge table, adjacency lists and we study the matrix representation by Euler circuit. The effect of the matrix representation by Euler circuit economize the storage capacity of computer. The economy of a storage capacity has meaning on a mobile system.

An empirical way of a covariance matrix which expresses the odometry uncertainty of mobile robots is proposed. This method utilizes PC-method which removes systematic errors of odometry. Once the systematic errors are removed, the odometry error can be modeled using the Gaussian probability distribution, and the parameters of the distribution can be represented by the covariance matrix. Experimental results show that the method yields $5{\%}$ and $2.3{\%}$ offset for the synchro and differential drive robots.
A new vector algorithm is presented for computing the stiffness matrices of layered reinforced concrete shell elements. Each element stiffness matrix is represented in terms of three vector arrays of lengths 78, 96 and 36, respectively. One element stiffness matrix is calculated at a time without interruption in the vector calculations for the uncracked or cracked elements. It is shown that the present algorithm is 1.1 to 7.3 times more efficient then a previous algorithm developed by us on a Cray Y-MP supercomputer.
It is well known that the general term of a sequence can be represented by a linear combination of binomial coefficients. In this paper we give a simple proof for this fact.
Chromatin texture, which partly reflects nuclear organization, is evolving as an important parameter indicating cell activation or transformation. In this study, chromatin pattern was evaluated by image analysis of the electron micrographs of follicular and papillary carcinoma cells of the thyroid gland and tested for discrimination of the two neoplasms. Digital grey images were converted from the electron micrographs, nuclear images, excluding nucleolus and intranuclear cytoplasmic inclusions, were obtained by segmentation; grey levels were standardized; and grey level histograms were generated. The histograms in follicular carcinoma showed Gaussian or near-Gaussian distribution and had a single peak, whereas those in papillary carcinoma had two peaks(bimodal), one at the black zone and the other at the white zone. In papillary carcinoma, the peak in the black zone represented an increased amount of heterochromatin particles and that at the white zone represented decreased electron density of euchromatin or nuclear matrix. These results indicate that the nuclei of follicular and papillary carcinoma cells differ in their chromatin pattern and the difference may be due to decondensed chromatin and/or matrix substances.
Knowledge creation and management are regarded as critical success factors for an organization's survival in the knowledge era. As a process of knowledge acquisition and sharing, organizational learning mechanisms (OLMs) guide the learning function of organizations represented by its different learning activities. We examined a variety of learning processes that constitute OLMs. In this study, we aimed to capture the process and framework of OLMs and knowledge sharing and acquisition. Factors facilitating OLMs were investigated at three levels: individual, group, and organizational. The concept of an OLM has received some attention in the field of organizational learning, however, the relationship among the factors generating OLMs has not been empirically tested. As part of the ongoing discussion, we attempted a systemic approach for OLMs. OLMs can be represented by factors that are inherent to the organization's system; therefore, prior to empirically testing the OLM generating factor(s), evaluation of its organizational integration is required to determine effective treatment of each factor. Thus, we developed a framework to manage knowledge and proposed a method to numerically evaluate factors influencing the OLMs. Specifically, composite importance (CI) of the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method was applied to explore the interaction effect of these factors based on systemic approach. The augmented matrix thus generated is expected to serve as a stochastic matrix of an absorbing Markov chain.

In this paper, a decentralized fuzzy output feedback controller for nonlinear interconnected systems with time delay is proposed. The nonlinear interconnected system is represented to fuzzy system using Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The decentralized output feedback controller is designed(or stability of subsystems of the fuzzy interconnected system. The stable condition of the closed-loop subsystem is represented to the linear matrix inequality (LMI) form and control gain is obtained by LMI. An example is given to show the verification discussed throughout the paper.
Conventional bar code has the appearance of line bars and spaces, called as one-dimensional bar code. In contrast, the information in two-dimensional bar code is represented by either a small, rectangular or square with the types of mosaic and Braille. The two-dimensional bar code is much more efficient than one-dimensional bar code because it can allow to store and express large amounts of data in a small space and so far there is also a little information about decoding the Data Matrix in base 256 mode. According to the ISO international standards, there are four kinds of bar code: QR code, Data Matrix, PDF417, and Maxi code. In this paper, among them, we focus on describing the basic concepts of Data Matrix in base 256 mode, how to encode and decode them, and how to organize them in detail. In addition, Data Matrix can be organized efficiently depending on the modes of numeric, alphanumeric characters, and binary system and expecially, we focus on describing how to decode the Data Matrix code by four modes.

The jacket matrix is based on the Walsh-Hadamard matrix and an extension of it. While elements of the Walsh-Hadamard matrix are +1, or -1, those of the Jacket matrix are ${\pm}$1 and ${\pm}$$\omega$, which is $\omega$, which is ${\pm}$j and ${\pm}$2$\sub$n/. This matrix has weights in the center part of the matrix and its size is 1/4 of Hadamard matrix, and it has also two parts, sigh and weight. In this paper, instead of the conventional Jacket matrix where the weight is imposed by force, a simple Jacket sequence generation method is proposed. The Jacket sequence is generated by AND and Exclusive-OR operations between the binary indices bits of row and those of column. The weight is imposed on the element by when the product of each Exclusive-OR operations of significant upper two binary index bits of a row and column is 1. Each part of the Jacket matrix can be represented by jacket sequence using row and column binary index bits. Using Distributed Arithmetic (DA), we present a VLSI architecture of the Fast Jacket transform is presented. The Jacket matrix is able to be applied to cryptography, the information theory and complex spreading jacket QPSK modulation for WCDMA.
