Concrete is an economical construction material and for that reason it is widely used in buildings and infrastructures. The use of deicing salts, expansion joint failure, and freeze-thaw cycles have led to concrete bridge girders experiencing corrosion of steel reinforcement and becoming unsafe for driving. The goal of this research is to assess the effectiveness of current and possible repair techniques for the end region of damaged prestressed concrete girders. To do this, three American Association of State Highway and Transportation prestressed concrete girders were tested to failure, repaired, and retested. Three different repair materials were tested including carbon fiber, glass fiber, and surface mounted rods. Each different repair material was also tested with and without injected epoxy. Comparisons were then made to determine if injecting epoxy had a positive effect on stiffness and strength recovery as well as which repair type regained the largest percentage of original strength.

The repairing technique of surface wrapping concrete structural members using fiber composite sheet have been widely used. The research efforts have been limited to studying relative strength increase of repaired concrete structures rather than ductility improvement based on composite material effect and the interface effect between composite and concrete. The compression tests of CFS(carbon fiber sheet) reinforced concrete specimens with various cross-sectional shapes and laminate angles have been peformed. FEM algorithm considering various parameters will be performed based on the obtained data. The results will be discussed in detail.

The exploitation of fibre reinforced polymer composites, as external reinforcement is an evergreen and well-known technique for improving the structural performance of reinforced concrete structures. The demand to use FRP composites in the civil engineering industry is mainly due to its high strength, light weight, and stiffness. This paper exemplifies the shear strength of partially precracked reinforced concrete rectangular beams repaired with externally bonded Bi-Directional Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Fabrics strips. All specimens were cast in the laboratory environment without any internal shear reinforcement. The test parameters were longitudinal tensile reinforcement, shear span to effective depth ratio, spacing of CFRP strips, and orientation of CFRP reinforcement. It mainly focuses on the shear capacity and modes of failure of the CFRP strengthened shear beams. Results have shown that the CFRP repaired beams attained a shear enhancement of 32% and 107.64% greater than the control beams. This study underscores that the CFRP strip technique significantly enhanced the shear capacity of precracked reinforced concrete rectangular beams without any internal shear reinforcement.
This paper presents experimental investigations about flexural strength and durability of reinforced concrete beams repaired using ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite (DFRCC) and carbon fiber sheet through freezing and thawing test. Total 14 RC beams of $100{\times}100{\times}400mm$ size were tested by 3-point bending and freezing and thawing test by KS F 2456. The beams were reinforced using 3D10 steels on both the tensile and compressive sides, and repaired on 3 sides expect on top cycle. Test results showed that the beams repaired using fiber carbon sheet revealed about 15% higher values of flexural strength compared than the cases of DFRCC motar. On the other hand, the results did not showed meaningful differences in the aspect of durability. For further research, consideration of the steel interference effect and real old specimens such as taken from real deteriorated structures are needed to be tested after repairing with DFRCC and carbon fiber sheet.
This paper presents experimental investigations about compressive strength and durability of reinforced concrete compressive members repaired using ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite (DFRCC) and carbon fiber sheet through freezing and thawing test. Total 24 RC specimens of 100x100x400mm size were tested by compressive strength test and freezing and thawing test by KS F 2456. The specimens were reinforced using 4D10 steels and repaired on 4 sides expect on top cycle. Test results showed that the specimens repaired using fiber carbon sheet revealed about 5% higher values of the compressive strength compared than the cases of DFRCC motar. On the other hand, the resurts did not showed meaningful differences in the aspect of durability. For further research, considerations of the steel interference effect and real old specimens such as taken from real deteriorated structures are needed to be tested after repairing with DFRCC and carbon fiber sheet.

Almost all concrete structures have many inevitable cracks for various reasons such as drying shrinkage, heat liberation of cement, fatigues or repeating loads and movements. Conventionally, they are repaired with epoxy materials. The Epoxy resins used by repair materials are different from properties of the base concrete materials such as thermal and mechanical properties - thermal expansion coefficients, bending strength. And the epoxy resin cannot release the water inside the concrete structure and cause corrosion of the steel bars. In this study, before the experiment got launched, we had analyzed cement and slag. Then We blended the two grades of ultra fine cement using high blaine cement and slag. And the cement slurry was produced by water and suprplasticizer to each blended ultra fine cement in various conditions. The slurry produced by each conditions was evaluated with flow properties such as viscosity, dropping time, segregation and observation of dry surface after injection.

An experimental investigation was conducted to examine the feasibility of Carbon Fiber Sheet(CFS), a kind of high strength fiber, for a repair and reinforcement method of concrete structures. The experimental program included tests of flexural beams different in wrapping method and amount of CFS. The beams were subjected to monotonic loading. Although the flexural strength for concrete members increases with wrapping methods of CFS., the reduction factor due to the distribution, amount bond of CFS should be completely examined. This study approached the effectiveness and application of CFS, along with reinforcement effects of CFS on reinforced concrete beams through tests. Test results indicated that the increase in the number of CFS layer caused the increase in strength of beams in strength.
Concrete structures may become vulnerable during their lifetime due to several reasons such as degradation of their material properties; design or construction errors; and environmental damage due to earthquake. These structures should be repaired or strengthened to ensure proper performance for the current service load demands. Several methods have been investigated and applied for the strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures using various materials. Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement is one of the most recent type of material for the strengthening purpose of RC structures. The main objective of the present research is to identify the behavior of reinforced concrete slabs strengthened with FRP bars by using near surface mounted (NSM) technique. Validation study is conducted based on the experimental test available in the literature to investigate the accuracy of finite element models using LS-DYNA to present the behavior of the models. A parametric analysis is conducted on the effect of FRP bar diameters, number of grooves, groove intervals as well as width and height of the grooves on the flexural behavior of strengthened reinforced slabs. Performance of strengthening RC slabs with NSM FRP bars was confirmed by comparing the results of strengthening reinforced slabs with control slab. The numerical results of mid-span deflection and stress time histories were reported. According to the numerical analysis results, the model with three grooves, FRP bar diameter of 10 mm and grooves distances of 100 mm is the most ideal and desirable model in this research. The results demonstrated that strengthening of reinforced concrete slabs using FRP by NSM method will have a significant effect on the performance of the slabs.

In this study, it was experimentally investigated the effectiveness of repair and strengthening methods for RC beams deteriorated under severs enviromental conditions. Polymer cement were employed to restore the sectional loss and aramid fiber-reinforced sheet was used to reinforce the surface subject to tension. Repaired and strengthened reinforced-concrete samples were subjected to loading tests. The tests revealed that the sectional restoration enhanced the loading capability of the sample structures. Additional strengthening with one aramid fiber-reinforced sheet improved 18% of yielding load and 30% of ultimate load of the structure. Reinforcing with two aramid fiber-reinforced sheets brought about an enhancement of 22% of yielding loading and 49% of ultimate load.
The aim of this study is to investigate the efficiency of using threaded rods and steel profiles to produce a steel confining system for rehabilitation of damaged concrete corbels for the first time in literature. Some of the specimens were repaired by crack repair epoxy before being confined for further enhancement. A total of 19 two sided damaged corbels were used in the study with different mechanical properties and parameters but similar dimensions. The differences were in rehabilitation style, shear span, fiber percentage, reinforcement steel diameter, and concrete strength. The rehabilitated specimens were loaded with vertical load until failure. Four different configurations were used in the investigation. Test results show that the proposed rehabilitation technique is effective to enhance the load capacity of the corbels and to improve their ductility. Moreover, new formulations were proposed to calculate the load capacity of the rehabilitated corbels. A good fit was observed between numerical and experimental results.
