  • 1970년 초에 배럴당 1불하던 원유가가 지금은 120불을 상회하고 있다. 더욱 놀라운 것은 3년 전만 하더라도 40불 이하 수준이던 것이 불과 몇 년 사이에 3배 이상 급등해 버린 것이다. 우리는 아직 유가 100불 이상의 고유가 시대에 대한 고통을 실감하지 못하고 있지만, 빠른 시일 안에 대항한 형태로 우리를 불편하게 하고, 더가서는 사회 경제 문화 등 모든 우리의 활동패턴에 근본적 변화를 일으킬 것이라는데는 어느 누구도 이의를 달지 못할 것이다. 한편 90년대만 하더라도 친환경 건축기술은 선택적 사양으로 인식되어 왔으며, 일부 고급건물 또는 데모성격의 건물에만 반영되던 미래의 기술 분야로 간주되어왔다. 하지만 10년 남짓 지난 지금 우리 주변에서 가장 흔하게 접할 수 있는 용어 중의 하나가 친환경, 지속가능, 그린, 에코 등 이며, 최근 많은 건설사가 고민하고 있는 가장 중요한 이슈가 친환경 건축 관련 기술이 되어버렸다. 최근 유가의 급등세 보다는 더디다 할 지라도 몇 년 사이에 벌어지고 있는 제도적, 사회 경제적 변화 동향을 돌이켜 볼 때 건축계 또한 매우 빠른 속도로 변해가고 있으며, 부지불시간에 유가등급과 같이 변화된 환경에 놀라는 시기가 곧 도래할 것이다. 오랜 기간 에너지 및 친환경 관련 요소기술의 개발, 정부의 지원제도 확대, 보급 강화 등 각종 노력을 통해 이제는 건축 설계분야에서도 친환경건축물에 대한 저변이 크게 확대되었다고 볼 수 있다. 하지만 실상 우리주변에서 제대로된 친환경 건축물을 실제로 보고자 한다면 두손으로 꼽기도 힘들 정도인 사실에 놀라게 될 것이다. 이러한 배경하에 이번 연재에서는 그동안 오랜기간 떠들고 노력했음에도 불구하고 실제 제대로된 친환경 건축물을 우리 주변에서 찾기 힘든 이유를 건축실무자 측면에서 재고해 보고, 이에 대한 새로운 해결방안을 모색해 보는 계기를 갖고자 한다. 특히 많은 친환경 건축기술 중 최근 선진국을 중심으로 가장 큰 이슈가 되어 있고, 또한 건축사 입장에서 쉽게 접근하기 어려운 기술분야인 신재생에너지 건축응용 측면에서 다양한 최신 기술 및 실질적 접근방법과 사례를 주제별로 제시하고자 한다.

Questionnaire Survey on the Occurrence Time and Cause of Defect in Remodeled Apartment (아파트 리모델링 공사의 하자발생 시기 및 원인에 관한 연구)

  • Rapid economic growth occurred in Korean since the 1970s. This economic growth caused rapid urbanization and an increase in population in city. As a results, there was a housing shortage problem in korea. The government and construction companies have been continuously building residential houses such as apartments, mansions, others. Apartments mostly consist of residential houses and are generally made from reinforced concrete structure. Reinforced concrete structures including apartments need to be renovated, because they deteriorate with respect to time. However, there is no available data or information regarding the cost or the period of time that is needed for renovates of these apartment. We are especially short of information on the defect data of remodeling construction. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide fundamental data about the cause of defect in remodeled apartments as well as the appropriate time to execute renovation through a questionnaire survey with apartment residents as the participants.

Impact of Pig Slurry from WangGoong Farm Cluster on Water Quality of the Iksan Stream

  • Livestock wastewater is being discharged without treatment from Hasen's pig farm cluster in WangGoong (WG) area into the Iksan Stream, eventually flowing into the ManGyung (MG) at the upstream junction. Although it is well known that before discharge, wastewater must satisfy the pig slurry discharge standards; because of ongoing remodeling, proper treatment is not being performed. According to public records, wastewater from the WG pig farm cluster is responsible for 3.6% of MG River pollution and 2.0% of the SaeManGuem (SMG) Reservoir pollution. As a result, upstream water treatment quality has become primary concern for development of the SMG project. All physicochemical constituents and pathogenic microbes, such as chemical oxygen demand ($COD_{Cr}$), biochemical oxygen demand ($BOD_5$), total suspended solids (TSS), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorous (TP), fecal coliforms, Escherichia coli and Salmonella at the effluent of WG Plant (S-1) exceed the effluent standards. This is mainly due to insufficient wastewater treatment: the WG Plant is under renovation to increase water purification efficiency. By comparing the water quality at the S-7 junction, where the the Iksan Stream (pig farms) and the Wanggoong Stream (no pig farms) merge, it is clear that farming facilities and improper treatment can critically affect surrounding water quality. While it is clear throughout this study that the level of all physicochemical parameters and pathogenic microbes along the Stream decreased due to sedimentation, biodegradation and/or dilution. An alarming problem was discovered: the existence of pathogenic microbe count(E coli, Salmonella) in the lagoon wastewater and the stream water. Not only were high concentrations of these pathogens themselves found, but the potential existence of more serious pathogens could rise to more dangerous conditions.

  • Recently, structure and type of GIS data is various and complicated. Therefore, there is a research on efficient data collecting and processing method. Digital maps and orthophotos are needed for efficient usage in the field of GIS. Digital maps which are one of the part of NGIS and digital cadastral maps are different, and data construction isn't performed. Furthermore, there are no research on the improvement of difference between digital maps and cadastral maps. In this paper, manufactured digital orthophotos using aerial photos are used for change detection in a central area of a town. Selecting a town which has various changes, and digital maps and cadastral maps overlap each other, and analyze them for correction, renovation and possible application.

  • Recently, various development projects have occurred due to rapid industrialization and urbanization. Both industry and population grew rapidly which causes a corresponding rise in pollution. The accumulated pollutants are washed-off during rainy days, highly degrading the water quality of the receiving water body. This is because a lot of non point source (NPS) pollutants were accumulated on the surface during dry periods. This research focuses on the development of Eco-Bio Filter (EBF) system that treats NPS pollutants. It is constructed at Kongju National University campus. The EBF is a type of a structured infiltration system that falls under the category of Low Impact Development (LID) hydrologic design practices. The monitoring of rain events was performed. It includes the development of design, the lessons learned from the post-construction testing and the improvements in the renovation made. After a series of monitoring, the MOE will use the results to apply the design to other areas in the country.

  • The aim of this paper is to examine the development of regional geography (including regional studies) in Germany since 1945 in the context of its traditions and changes. From 1945 to the end of 1960s, in spite of many hies of renovation regional geography has faced critics and fall into a serious crisis. After the 1970s many geographers intensively have searched for the new conception and broadly accepting methodological way of regional geography, and in the advent of 1980s regional geography is regarded as a special form of collecting and presenting spatial informations in terms of the addressee. But in the after-era of german unification and through the new establishment of the Institut for the Regional Geography in Leipzig, a discussion on the research aim and future of regional geography was resumed, and its future direction is open.

  • This paper proposes renovation guidelines for impaired persons' facilities in Chungcheongnam-Do by reviewing the conditions of the facilities based on the standard and deinstitutionalization trends in foreign facilities. The facilities were located far from the downtown of cities. Therefore, education and adaptation programs are necessary for these people to return to society. Recombining the rooms for a living room-oriented unit considering the structure system of the facilities allows good adaptation to home-based living conditions for impaired people. The area per person will be increases by renovations to a living room-oriented unit that makes upgrades to near foreign standards, such as The USA and The UK.

  • Recently adoption of BIM technology for building renovation and remodeling has been increased in construction industry. However most buildings have trouble in 2D drawing-based BIM modeling, because 2D drawings have not been updated real situations continually. Applying reverse engineering, this study analysed the point cloud data structure and the process for guideline of reverse engineering of architectural MEP, and deducted the relating considerations. To active usage of 3D scanning technique in domestic, the objective of this study is to analyze the point cloud data processing from real site with terrestrial LiDAR and the process from data gathering to data acquisition.

Impact Assessment of Remodeling Works on Indoor Air Quality in a University Library Building (대학 도서관 건물 리모델링에 따른 실내공기질 영향 평가)

  • Recently, there have been a large number of remodeling (or renovation) works in old buildings in urban areas. Compared to new buildings, environmental risk might be more significant in such buildings where remodeling works are going on, since some parts of the building may still be in service for people. This study was carried out to investigate the impacts of remodeling works on the indoor air quality (IAQ) of a large building (a 22 stories university library). Indoor air monitoring was conducted during and after the remodeling works every two weeks for a one year period, and target compounds included BTEX, styrene, TVOC, carbonyl compounds such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. $CO,\;CO_2,\;PM_{10}$, and $PM_{2.5}$. Overall, the IAQ appeared to be recovered within two months after the remodeling works. However, in some places, concentrations of formaldehyde, toluene, xylene. and ethylbenzene showed higher levels even after works than those during the works. The results indicate that painting, glues and office furnitures are major sources of aromatic VOCs and formaldehyde. Therefore, in order to decrease the concentrations of toxic VOCs, the use of environmental-friendly building materials is strongly recommended during the remodeling works. In addition, IAQ control and management scheme (for example, baking the inside of the building) should be taken into consideration before reopening the buildings.

The Costume and the thought to Costume of the Ambassador Extraordinary(修信使) and the Inspectors(朝士視察團) Detached to Japan before the Reform of Dress Regulation in 1884(甲申衣制改革) (갑신의제개혁(1884년) 이전 일본 파견 수신사와 조사시찰단 복식 및 복식관)

  • The reform of dress regulation in Kapshin(甲申衣制改革; 1884) was the first dress renovation in 8 years after Chosun's port opening in 1876, and the key contents of that reform was the simplification of the formal dress and private dress. The reform in the culture of the traditional costume should require some kind of special experience because that culture had been regarded as the precious symbol of the Confucianism. The purpose of this study is to investigate the background of "the reform" and who proposed "that reform", by contemplating the costume and the thought of costume of the ambassador extraordinary(修信使) and the Inspectors detached to Japan(朝士視察團) who experienced new costume system of Japan sent by Chosun Dynasty. For this study, historical documents such as 'Sillok(實錄)', a sort of report("修信使記錄", "聞見事件") were reviewed and the evidential photos in Japan were analyzed. It can be summarized as follows. First, Kim Kisu(金綺秀, Susinsa) in 1876 and Kim Hongjip(金弘集, Susinsa) in 1880 wore the traditional costume of Chosun in Japan, and described the westernized Japanese costume in view of traditional costume culture. Second, the inspectors detached to Japan in 1881 showed the same attitude to the Japanese costume as the previous Susinsas had done. Third, Park Younghyo(朴泳孝), who was an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary(特命全權大使) in 1882, experienced western style in Japan and played an positive diplomatic activities with western nations. It could be guessed that those changes in the attitudes of the diplomats might have the relationship with the change of Chosun, which began a treaty of amity between western nations after 1882. Afterwards, Chosun seems to have decided to reform the system of traditional costume into the simplified one in 1884, proposed by the diplomats who experienced foreign culture abroad including Park Younghyo(朴泳孝) and the mutual agreement in Chosun Government.
