This paper explores the determinants of the economic value of patents using a survival time analysis. The analysis is based on renewal information of about 250,000 patents filed from 1984 to 2005 in the Korea Intellectual Property Office. A patent right is valid only when its owner pays yearly maintenance fees. Failure to pay causes patent rights to be lapsed. We use the fact that more valued patents live longer and the lengths of their renewals can be closely related to their value. The value can be affected not only by its own technological aspects such as quality and breadth, but also by characteristics of its owners such as innovativeness and age. This paper presents patent-specific and firm-specific characteristics which influence patent value. The result of analysis implies that patent value depends on both the technological contents of the patent and general capabilities of a firm.

The urban renewal type redevelopment project is a project to improve the urban environment for the recovery of urban functions and revitalization of commercial districts in commercial and industrial areas. Urban regeneration projects are not progressing smoothly. The urban renewal type is not so for landowners, who require a high level of professional knowledge and experience to carry out smooth projects. In addition, the core part of business conflicts can be seen as the problem of management and disposal methods. Therefore, as landowners, etc. become the actual subjects, the public will take charge of project execution, but all development gains and losses will be attributed to the owner of the land, etc.

Further education for teachers is required for reforms of elementary education curricula and their career development. At a time when mathematics is becoming more important in our everyday lives and more relevant in applications in industry and the emerging technologies, there are signs of a decrease in numbers of students and their interest in the subject. Teachers must be encouraged to take a new approach to generating enthusiasm amongst students by showing them that mathematics is an integral part of the future. To achieve this, opportunities for renewal of teachers' knowledge and updating of skills should be made available. In this paper, emphasis is placed on mathematics in the real world and how it can be used to develop the more general skills such as self-teaching and communication which are an essential part of preparation for entry into higher education or the workplace.

A theory of public knowledge is offered for the purposes of defining more clearly its role in information systems and classification schemas. Public knowledge is knowledge intended to be available for use in a public system. It is knowledge accessible to the public or knowledge in the public arena as opposed to the other seemingly multitudinous ways to describe knowledge. Furthermore, there are many different public arenas or small worlds. Public knowledge, irrespective of these different arenas, has four important overlying characteristics: It is consensual, it does not imply complete truth or certainty, it is autonomous, and it has a constant renewal of old knowledge with new knowledge. Each of these attributes has been culled from a study of the works of Patrick Wilson, Karl Popper, and John Ziman.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of CPR education programs on seafarers and the retention period of the knowledge. The subjects of this study were 40 seafarers who took safety training courses at the Korea Institute of Maritime and Fisheries Technology. The seafarers were tested for their knowledge and attitude before, immediately after, 1 month after, and 3 months after the CPR education program. Data were analyzed for frequency, percentage, ${\chi}^2-test$, and t-test, and ANOVA was measured repeatedly using an SPSS statistical program. Knowledge, attitude, and performance ability were significantly increased post-education as compared to pre-education. Knowledge, attitude and performance ability were consistent when tested after 1 month, but knowledge, attitude, and performance ability were significantly decreased when tested three months later. Therefore, to maintain knowledge, attitude, and skills in performing CPR, appropriate renewal times are necessary in regular seafarers' safety training centers and sailing vessels.

Knowledge Management (KM) is the systematic, explicit, and deliberate building, renewal, and application of knowledge to maximize an enterprise's knowledge-related effectiveness and performance from its knowledge assets. KM applies systematic approaches to find, understand, and use knowledge to create new capabilities, solve problems, enable superior performance, and encourage innovation. The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship of KM capabilities (KM infrastructures and KM processes) and organizational effectiveness and performance. An empirical research of the relationship of knowledge management capabilities and organizational effectiveness and performance is conducted from the information systems and knowledge management literature in order to access the following questions: (1) Does the knowledge management infrastructure contribute to the organizational effectiveness and peformance? (2) Does the knowledge management process contribute to the organizational effectiveness and peformance? The research design employs a mail survey questionnaire for gathering data from 500 firms in a number of industries. From a mail survey of 61 top managers of knowledge management, the results of empirical analyses provide the following major findings: (1) While the external effectiveness of organization is influenced by the cultural infrastructure of knowledge management, the overall performance of organization is influenced by the structural infrastructure of knowledge management. (2) While the external effectiveness of organization is influenced by the application and protection processes of knowledge management, the overall performance of organization is influenced by the knowledge acquisition process of knowledge management.

Purpose : The purpose of the study is to investigate the knowledge, attitude, confidence, and experiences of community health practitioner(CHP) regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR). Methods : The subjects were 333 CHP in G Province, C Province, and I Metropolitan City. A structured self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 209 participants from July 29, 2013 to September 30, 2013. Results : Confidence level toward CPR was intermediate, and knowledge and attitude level was very low. Seventeen participants performed CPR to cardiac arrest victim. Eleven patients among 25 patients had spontaneous recovery of circulation (ROSC). So the rate was very high. Conclusion : It is necessary to perform the efficient CPR in CHP. In order to improve the positive attitude and confidence in CHP, the renewal system must maintain every two years.
