Cirsium xanthocanthum (Compositae) is a perennial herb. From the roots of this plant which were used for arthritis, neuralgia and carbuncular abscess as folkloric remedies, linarin, mp $255{\sim}257^{\circ}$, was isolated and identified by chemical reactions and spectral data with authentic samples.

A new classification framework called 'support feature machine' was introduced in [2] for analyzing medical data. Contrary to authors' claim, however, the proposed method is not designed to guarantee minimizing the use of the spatial feature variables. This paper mathematically remedies this drawback and provides comments on models from [2].

Recently, according to developing industry and life style, power consumption have been increased year after year. The air quality simulation models in wide use for air quality impact assessmetns are reviewed. After an intensive survey and comparative study upon the environmental impact assessment reports submitted to Ministry of Environment during 1990~1998, we could identify the major common problems with the air quality impact assessment procedures. Several remedies are presented here, including use of the screening models applicable to the complex terrain.

Ayurveda is gradually getting more acceptances in the world. The fact is visible through increasing number of Ayurveda articles in leading medical journals and also through the chapters on Ayurveda in various biomedical publications. Although the world is now looking up at the authentic information about Ayurveda, the status of Ayurveda publishing in India is not very promising. Poor workmanship while preparing the articles on Ayurveda and non professional approaches in publishing are the reasons of the poor show and this requires to be seriously taken up.

Aluminum rolling stocks have been developed for six years in Korea and commercial trainsets are being constructed by the carbuilder. Aluminum alloys are sensitive to various imperfections. In this paper, damages and failures of the aluminum carbody taking place during the process of development are investigated and accumulated data are released. Also, remedies for the failures are suggested and design changes are introduced. It is expected that all informations can contribute to construction of reliable and safe aluminum rolling stocks.

This overview is focused on Panax ginseng, one of the most commonly used herbal remedies. The currently available data regarding its clinical efficacy is somewhat confusing, despite the fact that many clinical trials and systematic reviews have been published. The risks of Panax ginseng seem to be only minor. Numerous mechanisms of action have been described. Future studies of this fascinating herbal remedy seem warranted but they should overcome the methodological limitations of the previous research.

Production technologies for aluminum rolling stocks are mainly related to welding of aluminum alloys. Automatic welding of extrusion profiles and control of welding deformations are the important contents of the production technologies. Another production technology other than welding is the technique for surface treatment of aluminum carbody. In this paper, problems caused during construction of the test carbody are described and the remedies for the problems are suggested. The accumulated experiences and systematic data will be helpful for the mass production of aluminum rolling stocks in the furture.

A comprehensive theory of the spin coating technique has been reviewed and the basic principles and parameters controlling the process are clearly highlighted, which include spin speed, spin time, acceleration and fume exhaust. The process generally involves four stages: a dispense stage, substrate acceleration stage, a stage of substrate spinning at a constant rate and fluid viscous forces dominate fluid thinning behaviour and a stage of substrate spinning at a constant rate and solvent evaporation dominates the coating thinning behaviour. The study also considered some common thin film defects associated with this technique, which include comet, striation, chucks marks environmental sensitivity and edge effect and possible remedies.
