  • The profitability of a hospital refers to business administration results achieved through its medical care and other management activities during applicable fiscal year. This study focused on operating margin as a measurement index of hospital profitability, which is a genuine medical return obtained by subtracting medical expenses from medical profits achieved during business administration of hospital. Based on the index, this study could deduce certain factors on hospital profitability in terms of various indices affecting profitability. And based on those factors, this study sought to provide more useful reference materials which allow us to devise possible ways to improve hospital profitability. As a result, it was found that public hospitals attained lower profitability than private ones. To analyze profitability depending on each index, this study divided hospitals broadly into deficit group and surplus group. As a result, it was found that there were significant differences in hospital profitability between two groups depending upon relevant indices such as labor cost ratio, maintenance expense ratio, number of operations per medical specialist and medical instrument turnover. According to analysis on potential effects of relevant indices upon profitability, it was found that each index had its explanatory power ranging from 25% to 74.5% depending on given model.

  • Background: Sarcopenia is a skeletal muscle disorder that involves the loss of muscle mass and function. Handgrip strength (HGS) is the most commonly used tool to assess muscle strength to diagnose sarcopenia. HGS is also associated with various diseases and health outcomes. Thus, we aimed this study to examine the HGS status in Korean adults and relevant factors of HGS. Methods: Data was obtained from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), a population-based nationwide survey. The estimated mean value of HGS was calculated in each age group. The mean HGS in men and women aged over 40 was compared according to the household income level, lifestyle factors, and comorbidities. Results: A total of 16,708 participants were included in this study. The mean HGS showed a maximum value in the 30s for both men and women, and then tended to decrease with increasing age. When analyzed for people aged 40 or older, the mean HGS was significantly higher in the current or past smoker, drinker, and aerobic exercise groups in both men and women. The mean HGS was lower in the group with comorbidities such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, and bone diseases. Conclusion: Our study found that the mean HGS was significantly different between those with and without underlying chronic diseases. In groups with relevant comorbidities, close monitoring for the development of sarcopenia and taking preventive measures such as exercise and nutritional support may be recommended.

  • The technological innovation of high-tech enterprises plays a positive driving role in operational performance. Investigating the factors influencing the operational performance of high-tech enterprises and the effects of technological innovation on operational performance is a targeted approach to promoting the growth of economic benefits and enhancing the foundation of enterprise efficiency. Additionally, it holds positive significance for the increase in market share of high-tech enterprises. This paper, considering the characteristics of high-tech enterprises, selects three influencing factors: research and development (R&D) investment intensity, the number of authorized patents, and the increment of intangible assets. Theoretical analysis is conducted on the impact mechanism and effects of these factors on operational performance. Based on this, empirical analysis is performed using relevant data of Chinese high-tech enterprises from 2011 to 2019. The study indicates that R&D investment intensity has a significant positive promoting effect on operational performance, the number of authorized patents also positively influences operational performance significantly, while the asset-liability ratio of high-tech enterprises has a notable inhibitory effect on operational performance. Finally, relevant recommendations are proposed.

  • The number of domestic smartphone users exceeded 30 million people, and the time in the future everyone will use a smartphone that will come with ago. Past purchase decisions, related research and product from the competition between the past case and the relevant literature for the smartphone market smartphone type to derive a purchase decision factors in the decision to purchase any difference between the factors. Literature and practices through performance, switching costs, product loyalty, design, brand, after-sales service, the price more than 7 variables were analyzed. One hundred people surveyed, respectively, did not obtain the response of a variety of ages and occupations, age of the sample used in the analysis of this study, and is concentrated as a student at the university of smartphones used to facilitate users analysis was done. We expect smartphone companies and related companies to be able to give guidelines for effective technology management.

  • The technological innovation of IT industry is the competitive tool for them to survive in the environment of an intensive competition. This technological innovation is critical in the survival of firms, but various factors should be considered to embody technological innovation success. This paper aims to identify the determinant factors of the outcome which influence the technological innovation based on the IT industry, and set up a model for measuring technological innovation success with its relevant understanding through the preceding studies. In addition, research with other related research model is to parallel.

  • The details of an approach to account for the factors that have been found to affect the ability and the probability to control cracking due to sawcutting in newly constructed concrete pavements are presented. Several factors such as material strength parameters, method and quality of curing, slab and subbase stiffness, and concrete shrinkage affect the probability of crack initiation. Others are relevant to concrete mixture characteristics that affect development of early aged stresses caused by shrinkage and thermally induced contraction. This paper presents the results of a probabilistic analysis of the factors that affect crack control using sawcut notches. Cost analyses on both conventional and early-entry sawcutting methods are shown to support the results of the probabilistic analysis. From both an operational and cost standpoint, it is evident for the environmental conditions considered that early-entry sawcut methodology holds a significant advantage over conventional methods.

  • During dental treatment, a dentist usually applies the local anesthesia. Therefore, all dentists should have expertise in local anesthesia and anesthetics. Local anesthetics have a neurotoxic effect at clinically relevant concentrations. Many studies have investigated the mechanism of neurotoxicity of local anesthetics but the precise mechanism of local anesthetic-induced neurotoxicity is still unclear. In addition, it is difficult to demonstrate the direct neurotoxic effect of local anesthetics because perioperative nerve damage is influenced by various factors, such as the anesthetic, the patient, and surgical risk factors. This review summarizes knowledge about the pharmacology of local anesthetics, nerve anatomy, and the incidence, risk factors, and possible cellular mechanisms of local anesthetic-induced neurotoxicity.

  • This paper empirically establishes the role played by the ecosystem related parameters in the emergence and growth of high technology start-up clusters in India. It is mainly based on secondary data from six major start-up hubs in India during the period 2005-2013. Our results throw up several interesting findings. First of all, we find that traditional infrastructure related factors or robust macroeconomic situation in general are not the most important drivers. What really seem to matter are the specific start-up ecosystem related factors - such as the Internet penetration, volume of deal flow, availability of VC funding and a pre-existing critical mass of relevant high technology businesses and skill-sets. Above all, our study points out that high economic growth alone will not automatically lead to spillovers in the form of a vibrant start-up ecosystem. Rather it has to be a product of conscious and concerted policy efforts at all levels that directly address the main challenges faced by the early-stage start-ups.

  • In order to improve e-Trade service, this paper has deduced impeding factors after review of precedent research on e-Trade and analysis of e-Trade current status. Then an empirical analysis of whether variables deduced are detrimental factors to utilization of e-Trade service has been made on the basis of a research model and relevant hypotheses. The scope of e-Trade service indicated in this paper is limited to use of uTradeHub system. Analytical results for the improvement of e-Trade service clearly indicate that the higher the impeding factor to utilization of the system integration, logistics and customs clearance, marketing and users field, the more necessary the service improvement for invigoration of e-Trade service. However, foreign exchange field does not seem to require attention because SMEs have not active will to do electronic payment through the process of electronic documents.
