Design and Implementation of Standby Power Control Module based on Low Power Active RFID (저 전력 능동형 RFID 기반 대기 전력 제어 모듈 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper a method of design and Implementation of RFID based control system for reducing standby power consumption at the power outlet is described. The system is composed of a RF controlled power outlet having relay and an active RFID tag communicating with the RF reader module controlling the relay. When the tag carried by human approaches to the RF reader the reader recognizes the tag and switch off the relay based on the RSSI level measurement. A low power packet prediction algorithm has been used to decrease the DC power consumption at both the tag and the RF reader. The result of experiment shows that successful operation of the relay control has been obtained while low power operation of the tag and the reader is achieved using above algorithm. Also setting the distance between the reader and the tag by controlling transmission power of the tag and adjusting the duty cycle of the packet waiting time when the reader is in idle state allows us to reduce DC power consumption at both the reader and the tag.

  • Electrical power distribution is consists of high voltage, low voltage and motor control center(MCC). Motor control centers involves turning the motor on and off, it is configured electronic over current relay to detect a motor overcurrent flows. Existing electronic over current relay detects electrical fault such as overcurrent, undercurrent, phase sequence, negative sequence current, current unbalance and earth fault. However, it is difficult to detect mechanical fault such as locked rotor, motor stator and rotor and bearing fault. In this paper, we propose a condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system for electrical and mechanical fault detection of rotating machinery. The proposed system is designed with signal input and control part, system interface part and data acquisition board for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis, it was possible to detect electrical fault and mechanical fault through measurement and control of insulation resistance, locked rotor, MC counter and bearing temperature.

  • This paper describes the synergism of Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic based approach to improve the reliability of transformer differential protection, the conventional transformer differential protection commonly used a harmonic restraint principle to prevent a tripping from inrush current during initial transformer´s energization but such a principle can not performs the best optimization on tripping time. Furthermore, in some cases there may be false operation such as during CT saturation, high DC offset or harmonic containing in the line.   • Because of the high cost for the active power filter, passive filters have been widly used to eliminate harmonic currents of nonlinear load and can also improve the power factor. They are not often optimal filters because the passive filters are designed under the fixed load conditions. In this paper we proposed the method which only the necessary harmonic filters are operated by detecting the various harmonic current components. We presents the new control method of passive filter selection type with the relay control circuit which is consist of analog GIC, comparater, flip-flop and etc. By the experimental results using the proposed system for the rectifier load, we concluded that the researched method is cost effective and the performance is better than the passive filter.

  • During driving an automobile, drivers push the clutch and transmit gear by their feeling. At the automobile which have the manually operated gear box by using apart designed equipment, for get the semi-auto function, a lot of research to realize the system which have passive transmission and automotive transmission has developed. In this paper, basically using one chip .mu.-comcontrolled the clutch of automobile by means of LPF, F/V converter and TR driver circuit which is designed. In the past, it was controlled the motor by operating relay which is int eh output system to control the clutch. This system some noises is made by on and off the relay, lessen the motor speed and causes many error due to consume the large power on driving the motor. In this paper, to solve these problems the output TR is operated by using one chip .mu.-com decrease the electic power consumption and designed the actuator to control the clutch by measns of vacuum.

A Study of Periodic Solutions of Typical Relay Servo System (릴레이 제어기구 조기해법에 관한 연구)

  • A relay servo, one of the nonlinear sytsems, is inherently compact compared to a linear system for an equivalent control problem. The power element or actuator is not adjusted proportionally in accordance with an error signals but rather is switched abruptly between several discrete conditions. Usually switched conditions are off, full, forward or full reverse. The relay system is a particularly simple and compact one, but probably more effort has been expended on its analysis and design than on all other systems together. Early studies in the art were made by Goldfarb, austin, Oppelt and Kochenburger on the describing function method, which can be used as an approximate check on the stability of the system. The describing function method is based on the assumption that any periodic wave could be approximated as a fundamental one in wide ranges of practical applications. A relay servo system usually operates on a limit cycle condition as the loop gain increases. The stability analysis compensation or any improvement effort based on the describing function method sometimes may present considerable discrepancies on physically realized practical systems. An approach to exact periodic solutions of a relay servo system is much important for the analysis, design and system improvement. This paper dells with periodic solutions of a relay servo system on the basis of describing function and generalized chopper wave form which is composed of infinite number of harmonic series. Various ways of graphical representation were attempted to get periodic solutions, some of which have shown its validity in rapid approach to exact solutions and also in judgement of system behavior.

  • The DC protection and control device for the feeding system of a Light Rail Transit(LRT) system is developed. For the development, the short circuit characteristics in the system are analyzed. As a result a protection algorithm for the DC fault selective relay (50F) is newly proposed, and principles of the DC fault selective relay, Line Test Device (LTD), DC Over Current Relay (DC OCR) are introduced From the development, the specifications and codes used to be unclear have become clarified and summarized. Moreover, the methods to examine the protective characteristics and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) are established Finally, the performance and the effectiveness of the developed protective relay have been verified with the test based on IEC. For the reliability of the system, the relay has been installed and is being operated at the test track of the LRT system at Gyeong-San.

Auto Tuning of Position Controller for Proportional Flow Control Solenoid Valve (비례유량제어밸브 위치제어기 자동조정)

  • Proportional solenoid valves are a modulating type that can control the displacement of valves continuously by means of electromagnetic forces proportional to the solenoid coil current. Because the solenoid-type modulating valves have the advantages of fast response and compact design over air-operated or motor-operated valves, they have been gaining acceptance in chemical and power plants to control the flow of fluids such as water, steam, and gas. This paper deals with the auto tuning of the position controller that can provide the proportional and integral gain automatically based on the dynamic system identification. The process characteristics of the solenoid valve are estimated with critical gain and critical period at a stability limit based on implemented relay feedback, and the controller parameters are determined by the classical Ziegler-Nichols design method. The auto-tuning algorithm was verified with experiments, and the effects of the operating point at which the relay control is activated as well as the relay amplitude were investigated.

  • Obtaining the parameters for PID controllers based on limit cycle information for the process in a relay controlled feedback loop has become an accepted practical procedure. If the form of the plant transfer function is known, exact expressions for the limit cycle frequency and amplitude can be derived so that their measurements, assumed error free, can be used to calculate the true parameter value. In the literature, parameter estimation for an assumed form of the plant transfer function has generally been considered for disturbance free cases, except a recently published work of the author. In this paper additional simulation results are reported on exact parameter estimation from relay autotuning under static load disturbances.

  • To operate electric power systems economically and stably, and to supply the electric power of good quality, it is necessary that the measured information (current, voltage, and so on) be detected and transmutted with high reliability and high effieincy. For the reason, the optical magnetic field sensor is possible to rapidly detect to over current and recover when electric power line have fault. In addition, the optical sensor have no electro magnetic distortion and no electric insulation. In this study, we designed OCR(Over Current Relay) using optical sensor. The designed OCR using optical sensor was measured characteristic and compared contentional OCR. This system have highest optical advantages and reliability.
