  • This study aims to explore the development and application of a simulated skills package designed to improve nursing students' knowledge integration and their system thinking(ST) skills about congestive heart failure(CHF) and to identify the change in students' ST levels using a ST-based learning approach. A simulated learning support package was developed by nurse educators and ST experts. The developed program was implemented with 35 third-year nursing students from S university in Seoul. The subjects improved their ST skills regarding CHF after intervention. Mean test scores for students completing the program were significantly higher than pre-intervention scores, including measures of direction of causality, polarity of causal relationship, feedback loop, polarity of feedback loop (reinforcing, balancing) and time delay (t=2.26~6.53, p=.030~p<.001). It is suggested that more educational programs be developed on various topics in order for nursing students to improve their ST skills as well as knowledge integration in clinical nursing practicum packages.

  • We investigate the dynamics of a non-autonomous chaotic oscillator including an optocoupler that shows a periode-doubling and a chaos dynamics under any conditions of input circuit via experiments. Its characteristics was found to coincide input frequency components with output's. But, the relationship between input signals and output signals is different according to the amplitude of driving input voltage and circuit structure. Thus, this result can be applied to a wide variety of optical systems in the future.

  • With steady increase in the demand for door-to-door delivery services, courier service providers are facing a constant pressure to reduce delivery price in order to secure quantity order and to improve the efficiency and reliability for customer service. The objective of this research is to explain the structure of the door-to-door delivery including door-to-door delivery service demand, sorting capacity in the hub-terminal, and the system performance measures such as service reliability networks using causal loop diagram(CLD). Based on causal relation, this research describes a comprehensive approach to examine how capacity reliability contributes to the renewal of the firm's competences through its reciprocal relationship with travel time reliability and connectivity reliability. Also, this research suggests the policy alternatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of door-to-door delivery network in response to increase customer satisfaction and profit maximization of the courier service providers: operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

  • The purpose of this paper is to simulate drinking population, an alcoholic abuser and an alcoholic through therapy programs and system dynamic model. Then we try to research relationship between an alcoholic crime and related therapy programs. The results of the model simulation were consistently increased drinking population and 3 types drinkers until 2020 years. Specially the growth rate of drinking abusers will be passing that of a drinking population. Second, It showed clearly the decreasing effects of drinking crime on therapy programs(clinical treatment, preventive displine and counseling treatment). Finally, it will be positvely necessary the long-term and various alcoholic therapy program for reducing the ratio of drinking abusers and an alcoholic. In the second place, government and medical centers must be established a concrete information systems for collecting alcoholic datum.

  • This study investigates the population model of the spread of HIV/AIDS which the infection is generated by an infectious in dividual in a population of susceptibles. A mathematical model is presented for the transmission dynamics of HIV infection within the communities of homosexual males. The pattern on the epidemic character of HIV, the causative agent of AIDS, was analysed by the mathematical model of AIDS system which is derived according to the ecological relationship between five epidemilogic states of individuals. The computer simulation was performed using real data.

  • A structure of musculotendon model with a fatigue profile is investigated. The Hill-type musculotendon model can predicts the decline in muscle force for a given fatigue profile. It consists of nonlinear activation and contraction dynamics based on the physiological concepts. It is normalized for generalization to deal with the various muscles. Muscle force generated by continuous tetanic electrical monophasic pulsewidth modulation stimulation is decreased in time. A fatigue profile is expressed by a function of intramuscular acidification and applied to the relationship between muscle force and shortening velocity in contraction dynamics. The results of computer simulation are well matched with data in a literature which are isometrically performed for knee extension muscles. Also change in optimal fiber length has an effect only on muscle time, constant not on the steady-state tetanic force.

  • Using a conventional railway, a tilting train was applied as a means of improving vehicle speed curve negotiation without any modification of infrastructure. In order to achieve the optimal car-body position control through the tilting mechanism, a dynamics analysis was required after the kinematics analysis of the tilting mechanism. For this, the geometric relationship of the linkage-type tilting mechanism was defined. Then, the equations of motion for the half car-body were derived. With the derived equations, the effect of the parameter change on performance was analyzed. The analysis result can be used in the optimum design of a tilting mechanism that considers the track environment, vehicle and operational conditions in which the tilting vehicle is applied.

  • Relationship between charge transfer mechanism and quantum coherence has been investigated using a realtime quantum dynamics approach. In the on-the-fly filtered propagator functional path integral simulation, by separating paths that belong to different mechanisms and by integrating contributions of correspondingly sorted paths, it was possible to accurately obtain quantitative contribution of different transport mechanisms. For a 5'-GAGGG-3' DNA sequence, we analyze charge transfer processes quantitatively such that the governing mechanism alters from coherent to incoherent charge transfer with respect to the friction strength arising from dissipative environments. Although the short DNA sequence requires substantially strong dissipation for completely incoherent hopping transfer mechanism, even a weak system-environment interaction markedly destroys the coherence within the quantum mechanical system and the charge transfer dynamics becomes incoherent to some degree. Based on the forward-backward path deviation analysis, the coherence variation depending on the environment is investigated numerically.

  • This paper investigates the relationships between exports, firm size, and firm dynamics. It is based on a longitudinal data covering listed firms in the Korean manufacturing industry. We found the stylized fact that the probability that a firm is exporter increases with firm size. A regression model for the determinant of export/sales ratio including dynamic adjustment process is tested on a cross-section sample for the year 2001. Empirical findings suggest that there is a positive and inversely U-shaped relationship between firm size and export/sales ratio, just for basic material and capital good industry. Except for firm size, the hypotheses concerning human capital intensity, physical capital intensity, R&D intensity, and patent are rejected. Using Granger causality test, we found that the rate of growth of total sales influences the change of the export/sales ratio with time lag for medium-sized firms. Finally, some policy implications are presented.

  • In order to find out relationship between hit probability and gun firing of a moving tank, a turret and flexible gun system model has been developed using the recursive flexible multibody dynamics. For a firing simulation model, nodal coordinates for a finite element model of a flexible gun have been employed to include traverse loads to the gun tube due to moving bullet and ballistic pressure. Modal coordinates are also used to represent the motion induced gun vibration before a firing occurs. An efficient switching technique from modal equations to nodal equations has been introduced for an entire gun firing simulation with rotating turret.
