Perceived Discrimination and Workplace Violence among School Health Teachers: Relationship with School Organizational Climate

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of the school organizational climate with perceived discrimination and the workplace violence among school health teachers. Methods: The research design was a cross-sectional study. The subjects of the study were 350 school health teachers with more than one year of teaching experience. Data were collected online using a questionnaire. Research variables are general characteristics, organizational climate, perceived discrimination, and workplace violence. The relationship between organizational climate and perceived discrimination and the relationship between organizational climate and workplace violence were analyzed using regression analysis. Results: The score for organizational climate of health teachers was 3.10 out of 5 points, the score for perceived discrimination was 2.85 out of 5 points, and the experience rate of workplace violence was 16.9%. School organizational climate was related to both workplace violence and perceived discrimination. The subcomponents of organizational climate affecting perceived discrimination of health teachers were interrelationship and the level of compensation. The subcomponents of organizational climate affecting workplace violence of health teachers were interrelationship and autonomy. Conclusion: The improvement of the school's organizational climate can reduce the level of workplace violence and discrimination against health teachers. It is important to establish an appropriate evaluation system for health teachers and to recognize the role and expertise of health teachers. In addition, it is necessary for school administraters to actively support health teahcers and to create an organizational climate where they can be friendly and communicative.

  • The purpose of this research is to understand the role of safety climate in the safety management system. Based on the 121 responses from facilities got Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18000 certification, the results of statistic analysis show that there is significant relationship between safety climate, work attitudes and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors (OCB). The most important finding is the relationship between safety climate and organizational commitment will mediate the relationship.

Decomposing Relationship between Safety Climate, Safety Perception, and Safety Behavior in Airline Industry

  • This research aims to investigate the relationship between safety climate and safety perception and safety behavior. Safety perception of the relationship is considered to have a mediating effect. Previous literature has tended to regard safety perception as an independent variable at the same level as the safety climate, which can be said to depend on behavioralism to approach the causal relationship to an one-way perspective. The survey was administrated through full- service carries in Korea such as Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, and low-cost carriers such as JeJu air, Jin air, and Air Pusan. It can identify a mediator of safety perception between safety climate and safety behavior. There are significant indirect effects of each value, which means mediators values of safety perception of safety climate variables and safety behavior. The study highlights that airlines should focus on the importance of their psychological aspects to strengthen the safety behavior of flight attendants and the value of organizational efforts to mature safety perceptions, suggesting some implications of theoretical and practical aspects.

  • In this paper, I empirically estimate the relationship between digital technology and climate technology using the United States Patent and Trademark Office's patent database. I find that innovation in digital technology increases the number of patents for climate technology by 17.3% on average, with digital data-processing technology and machine-learning-related technologies especially playing a key role in this relationship. Designing and implementing detailed policies that take into account the relationship between the two technologies will help us reduce the time required to achieve carbon neutrality and shift to the digital economy.

  • This study examined the role of safety climate, organizational trust, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. In addition, the study verified the mediating effect of organizational trust between safety climate, and job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Targeting population were the workers in the manufacturing sector. First, it was figured out that employees' recognition of organizations' safety climate has an effect positively on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Second, it turns out that individuals' safety awareness has a positive effect on the both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Third, it was figured out that organizational trust plays a role as mediation when employees' recognition of organizations' safety climate has an effect positively on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Fourth, the result revealed that foreign investment company moderated the relationship between safety climate and organizational climate. Fifth, organizational trust mediates the relationship that the individuals' safety awareness are positively affected on the both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Finally, The results of four hypotheses using intermediary variable in which organizational trust mediates the relationship between the safety climate and "work attitude" such as job satisfaction and organization commitment demonstrate significance of trust in organization in connecting safety climate and work attitude. Therefore, when trust in organization is enhanced, work attitude such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment could be improved.

  • The Demand-Control model has been one of the most popular theoretical models to explain job stress. This study extends the Demand-Control model to the team level and examines the relationship between job demand and job stress to tests the moderating effect of the `team relationship climate' on the relationship between job demand and job stress. Data were collected from 34 teams across 19 organizations and analyzed using HLM. The results showed that job demand was significantly related to job stress. Based on the team level analysis, the team relationship climate was found to moderate the relationship between job demand and job stress. In addition, the consideration behavior by the leader was significantly correlated with the team relationship climate. Finally the theoretical and practical implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

Role of Supervisor Behavioral Integrity for Safety in the Relationship Between Top-Management Safety Climate, Safety Motivation, and Safety Performance

  • Background: This study examines whether employee perceptions of supervisor behavioral integrity for safety moderates the relationship between top-management safety climate and safety performance (i.e., safety compliance and safety participation) and the mediated relationships through safety motivation. Methods: Data collected from 389 blue-collar employees were analyzed using latent moderated structural equation modeling. Results: The results indicate that the relationship between top-management safety climate and safety behavior, and the mediating role of safety motivation were replicated. Moreover, the results show that the mediated relationships between top-management safety climate and safety behaviors through safety motivation were stronger for employees who report high supervisor behavioral integrity for safety. Conclusion: The study findings suggest the role of supervisor behavioral integrity for safety in clarifying how the employee perceptions of top-management safety climate transfer to the employee safety behaviors through the motivational pathway.

  • It is one of the important study for improving education quality to investigate School climate, Campus Life and Academic Achievement in University. This study focuses on the of success / failure attribution in academic achievement and its internal-external attribution of Maritime college students. The main purpose of this study was investigate the relationship between the perception of college climate and attribution of success and failure about college life and cadet's academic performance. The subjects were 490 cadets of freshman, sophomore and junior of Korea Maritime University. The data was analysed by Pearson's correlation, one-way and simple factorial ANOV A, $x^2$, and t-test by using SPSSWIN Ver. 7.5 programme. The major results of this study were as follows : 1. Social relationship orientation was higher than the others on the perception of college climate, while the relationship between professor and collegian was lower. 2. The most collegian recognized on the attribution of failure about the college life and the relationship between professor and collegian. But most collegian recognized on the attribution of sucess about collegian's relationship. 3. The perception of college climate and attribution of success / failure was not influenced on the student's academic performance and academic adaptability.

The Effects of Hospital's Affect Climate on Organizational Commitment and Organizational Performance: Mediating Effect of Emotional Sharing to Leader (의료기관 감정환경이 조직몰입 및 조직성과에 미치는 영향 : 상사와 감정공유의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relation among affect climate, organizational commitment and organizational performance. Methodology: The survey was conducted through online questionnaires from April 28 to May 1, 2020 for workers in medical institutions. Multiple regression analysis and mediating effects test were performed to identify the influence relationship. Findings: The results, based on a sample of 344 workers in medical institutions, indicate that Positive display climate, Positive experiential climate and Authentic experiential climate are positively related to both organizational commitment and organizational performance. We also found that the lemotional sharing has a partial mediation effect in the relationship that positive display climate, positive experiential climate, and authentic experiential climate affect affective organizational commitment. Practical Implications: Emotional sharing is encouraged for hospital's workers, and the authentic experiential climate contributes to improving work efficiency as well as organizational performance.

A Study on the Safety Climate and Worker's Safe Work Behavior in Construction Site (건설현장의 안전 분위기와 작업자 안전행동에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • In recent years, the most safety studies have been focused on identifying the relationship between safety climate and safe work behavior in accordance with the awareness that prime causes of accidents are organizational, managerial, and human factors rather than pure technical failures across the world. This study focused empirical research aimed at finding out the safety climate factors and examining the relationships of the safety climate and safe work behavior in construction site in Korea, too. A 10 numbers of safety climate factors were adapted from the Mohamed's study(2002) and tested using PLS-GRAPH 3.0 expecting same results as Mohamed' study. And then the relationship between safety climate and safe work behavior was examined. Only two safety climate factors-personal risk appreciation and worker's safety competence-were found and a strong positive relationship between safety climate and safe work behavior was identified in this study. Discussed in details about the results and implications and suggested further studies.
