Empowerment and motivation predicted by relationship between badminton coaches-athletes (배드민턴 지도자-선수관계로 예측한 임파워먼트 및 동기)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the contribution of the relationship between coaches-athletes which the athletes have perceived concerning the empowerment and sport motivation on the basis of the relational characteristics between badminton coaches-athletes. The results were as follows. First, the relationship between badminton coaches-athletes had positive effect on the formation of empowerment to badminton athletes. Second, the relationship between badminton coaches-athletes had positive effect on the internal motivation and external motivation among the sport motivation of badminton athletes, while it had no effect on non-motivation. Third, the empowerment of badminton athletes had positive effect on the internal motivation and external motivation, but it had no effect on non-motivation.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the leadership style and performance of university athletes' leaders. Research design, data, and methodology: This study utilizes survey items constructed by reserach variables. Data were collected from college athletes of universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, where sports teams are located. A convenient sampling method was used of non-probability sampling methods. A total of 314 responses were computed at statistic program, spss version 21.0. In specific, the study employed correlation, exploary factor analysis, mulple-regressions to test the effects of ledership types on performance. Results: As a result of an empirical analysis to examine the relationship between the leader's leader-ship style and the athletic performance of college athletes, it was found that the leader's leadership style had a significant effect on the college athletes' performance. Conclusions: A leader's leadership style is a very important factor for college athletes who enter the professional world after graduating from college. Therefore, coaches maintain a horizontal relationship with the players rather than a vertical one, and if a leadership style suitable for the players is applied, the players' performance will be better, and the development potential of players and teams will increase. Suggestions for future studies were discussed.

  • Purpose: Prior literature posits that leadership of coach influences athletes' performance via delegate interactions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the type of instructor on the exercise stress of university athletes and to provide instructors with informative coaching methods especially for their leadership. Research design, data, and methodology: In order to achieve the purpose of the research, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province Materials University athletes were selected as a sample, 360 college athletes participated in the survey and data were screened and finally 314 were analyzed. The collected data were analyzed via descriptive analysis and multiple regressions. To examine the validity and reliability of the survey items, factor analysis and Cronbach's α were computed. Results: Coaches' leadership types are found to influence university athletes' exercise stress significantly. In specific, transformational leadership negatively influences teaching Complaints. Transformational leadership also negatively influences time constraints. However, transformational and transactional leadership do not have any effect on career concerns. transformational and transactional leadership also do not influence functional instability of college athletes. Conclusions: Overall, leadership types of coach partially influence exercise stress of athletes. These findings posit that transformational leadership contribute in developing reliable relationship between athletes and instructors. Further implications were discussed.

Implementation and Evaluation of a Nutrition Education Program to Improve the Nutritional an Physiological Status of Female Gymnasts (여자체조선수의 영양생리학적 요인 개선을 위한 교육프로그램의 효과분석)

  • This study was conducted with 20 female gymnasts to examine the relationship between eating patterns, diet menstrual function and hematological status. According to the baseline data a nutrition counseling and education program was developed and evaluated improved the nutritional status and health of female gymnasts. Mean body weight at the onset of the study was 42.1$\pm$7.0kg and was reduced to 41.8$\pm$6.1kg after the nutrition counseling and education program. The percent of body fat was significantly reduced from 13.9$\pm$3.7% to 13.1$\pm$3.1%(p<0.01) skinfold thickness of subscapular and thighs was reduced significantly(p<0.01, p<0.05) Mean daily intake levels of energy, protein calcium iron thiamin riboflavin and niacin were significantly elevated after the nutrition counseling and education program but were lower than the Recommenced Dietary Allowances. For the nutrition knowledge and food habits, the posttest mean scores showed a significant increase. The hematological status(hematocrit, serum ferritin) and the early follicle level of estradiol were elevated to a mild degree although it was not significant,. The follicular stimulating hormone level was elevated significantly(p<0.01) Gymnastica has been one of the sports implicated by the medical profession as having probable detrimental effects. The implications of such training to childs growth and maturation have yet to be determined . Most female athletes, however, experience poor nutritional status and delayed puberty The priorities were to prepared a more effective nutrition program and education material status and delayed puberty. Relationship among Elite Sport Track and Field Coaches' Expertise, Team Atmosphere and Athletic Satisfaction (육상지도자의 전문성과 팀 분위기 및 운동만족의 관계)

  • This study aims to examine the relationship between the expertise of track and field coaches, the team atmosphere, and athletic satisfaction in elite sports. To achieve this research purpose, data were collected using questionnaires from 221 student athletes from junior high to university students registered with the Korea Association of Athletics Federation in 2021 and collected using Google online questionnaires in consideration of the pandemic situation. For data processing, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using the statistical program SPSS 22.0, and the following conclusions were drawn. First, it was found that the expertise of the athletics coaches had a positive (+) effect on the team atmosphere. Second, among the sub-factors of athletics coach expertise, only athlete management was found to have a negative (-) effect on daily life satisfaction, a sub-factor of athletic satisfaction. Third, it was found that among the sub-factors of the team atmosphere, only role characteristics and leader characteristics had a positive (+) effect on social approval satisfaction, a sub-factor of athletic satisfaction.

Body Fat and Dietary Factors in Female Middle School Athletes -Soccer Player, Swimmer, and Rhythmic Gymnast- (여자중학교 체육 특기자들의 체지방과 식사변인에 대한 연구 -축구.수영.리듬 체조 선수를 대상으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the percent of body fat. fatness indices. and relationship between the percent body fat and dietary factors among the female middle school athletes. Hights, weights, an percent body fats of 17 soccer player. 10swimmer, and 5 rhythmic gymnast were measured. Dietary data were collected by questionnaires. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. Average body fat measured by infrared interactance method was 23.8$\pm$4.9% and BMI body fat was 20.3$\pm$2.6% Fatness indices such as BMI was 18.8$\pm$2.1 Rohrer index 119.4$\pm$11.8 percentage of ideal weight 90.4$\pm$9.2 and RBW 29.7$\pm$4.1. 2. Soccer player, swimmer, and rhythmic gymnast showed significant differences in percent body fat and fatness indices. ryhthmic gymnasts were smaller and lighter. 3. Most athletes were interested in diet and nutrition. and wanted to learn more about nutrition. Middle school female athletes ranked parents first or second for nutrition information. followed by managers$.$coaches$.$trainers. 4. Nutrition knowledge test score was 4.7 point out of possible 10, which is rather low, and showed significant difference in 3 kinds of players. 5. The quantities of food eaten in breakfast. lunch dinner and snack were significantly different among soccer player. swimmer. and rhythmic gymnast. In preference score of food groups, only beverage score was significantly different and of cooking methods. roasting and steaming were significantly different among the soccer player. swimmer. and rhythmic gymnast. 6. When subjects were divided into 3 groups on the basis of % infrared body fat, subjects with the highest body fat showed the tendency to eat more than others(non-sig). In the preference score of food groups. only fish showed significant difference among the groups. There were no significant differences between body fat and preference of various cooking method.

Reexamination of Coach-Athlete Relationship Maintenance Scale in Pro Baseball (프로야구 코치-선수관계 유지 척도 재검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to prove a development and initial validation of the korean version of coach-athlete relationship maintenance scale that originated from the work of Rhind & Jowett(2012) in pro baseball. The items were then administered to 132 Participants(29 coaches and 103 athletes) completed the questionnaires of the coach-athlete relationship maintenance in First preliminary investigation. Maximum likelihood estimate was used to identify the latent underlying structure. In order to verify the validity of Korean version of coach-athlete relationship maintenance was administered to an independent sample of 273 coaches and athletes. Pro baseball coach-athlete relationship maintenance is consisted of six factors(25 items) with conflict management, motivational, preventative, openness/assurance, support, and social network. SPSS18.0 and AMOS16.0 were used to analyze the exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factory analysis and internal consistency, test-retest with bootstrapping using of the data in this study. The results of the pro baseball coach-athlete relationship maintenance scale had six factors with 25 items, and each six factor was positively correlated. Overall, this study verified pro baseball coach-athlete relationship maintenance questionnaire. Thus, suggest that path of comparing the differences between the first division and farm team by using the test of the structural model invariance across the groups.

The relationship between sport talent development environment and achievement goal in sport of college athletes (대학운동선수의 스포츠영재육성환경과 스포츠성취목표의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of the Sport Talent Development Environment on the Achievement Goal in Sport of college athletes. The Sport Talent Development Environment (Martindale et al., 2010) had seven factors, but only four factors (long-term development, lack of quality preparation, communication, lack of understanding) were used after exploratory factor analysis. The Achievement Goals in Sport (Wang et al., 2007) was composed of four factors (mastery approach, mastery avoidance, performance mastery, performance avoidance). The results showed that 1)long-term development factor and communication factor of male athletes were significantly higher than female athletes while lack of understanding factor of female athletes were significantly higher than male athletes, 2)mastery avoidance factor of female athletes was significantly higher than male athletes, and 3)factors of development environment accounted for 27.8% to 34.5%-male athletes and for 13.2% to 22.7%-female athletes variance in the four achievement goals. Therefore, it is important for coaches and sport administrators to take these results into consideration when designing an effective talent development program.
