  • After studing of viewpoint of surgical disease in seven medical books related with Ju Dan Gye(朱丹溪) among four eminent physicians in the Jin and Yuan dynasties(金元四大家) I get conclsion as following. 1. Studied surgical diseases are total 40 kinds. 2. In 40 kinds surgical diseaes, case of having theory are 20 kinds, cases of having no theory and having only treatement by medicine are 20 kinds. 3. In therapy, cases that mainly use a method to eliminate pathogenic factors are 27 kinds; Acute mastitis(乳癰), Deep-seated mammary abscess(내巖), Acute appendicitis(陽癰), Bone cellulitis(附骨疽), Carbuncle of the lower abdomen near external genitalia(便毒), Leprosy(癩風), Macule(斑), Rash(疹), Urticaria(은疹), Scrofula(나역), Stagnant plegm(結核), Goiter andtumer(영유), Erysipelas(丹), Furuncle(정瘡), Scabies(疥瘡), Chancre(下疳瘡), Syphilitic skin disease(樣梅瘡), Incised wound (金瘡), Dermatopathy of lower limb and heel(脚足部瘡), Pemphigus(天疱瘡), Itching eruption due to blood-heat or wind heat(血風瘡), Dermatopathy of head(頭面瘡), Scald and burn(湯火瘡), Tetanus(破傷風) , Ecthyma(염瘡), Fistula(久漏瘡), Tinea(癬瘡), Cases that mainly use external therapy are 5 kinds; Rhagades of hand and foot(手足군裂), Vulvar ulceration(婦人陰瘡), Chilblain(凍瘡), Rabies(풍狗咬), Tinea capitis(白禿瘡), Cases that mainly use a reinforcing method are 4 kinds; Internal deep-rooted carbuncle(內疽), Pruritus and dryness of skin(皮膚乾燥), Anul fistula(漏瘡), Macule Caused by disorder of internal organ(內傷發斑), Cases that mainly use eliminating first and then reinforcing are 2 kinds; Pyogenic infection and ulcerous disease of slin( 疽瘡상癰疽瘡瘍), Lung abscess(肺癰), Case that mainly uses reinforcement and elimination in combination is only Haemorroid(痔瘡). Case divided into two groups that are reinforcing method and a method to eliminate pathogenic factor is only Trauma(打撲). Case that have no treatment by medicine is only Abscess of the scrotum(囊癰). 4. In 40 kinds surgical diseases, we can know that except a few important surgical diseases, Ju Dan Gye haven't distinguished viewpoint in many surgical diseases, because there are many cases that have no theory and have only simple treatment of medicine, and that mainly use a method to eliminate pathogenic factors and external therapy. 5. Representative theory of Ju Dan Gye, nourishing Yin and extinguishing fire(滋陰降火), has little effect on therapy of surgical disease. We need to try statistical division of internal and external remedy in the future, and by studing of surgical disase in medical books related with four eminent physicians in the Jin and Yuan dynasties, I think we can see their viewpoint of surgical disease.

  • Shear experiments were carried out to evaluate shear performance of SFRC deep beams with end-anchorage of SD600 high strength headed reinforcing tensile bars. The experimental variables include the end-anchorage methods of tensile bars (headed bar, straight bar), the end-anchorage lengths, and the presence of shear reinforcement. Specimens with a shear span ratio of 1 showed a pattern of the shear compression failure with the slope cracks progressed after the initial bending crack occurred. Specimens with end-anchorage of headed bars (H-specimens) showed a larger shear strengths of 5.6% to 22.4% compared to straight bars (NH-specimens). For H-specimens, bearing stress reached 0.9 to 17.2% of the total stress of tensile bars up to 75% of the maximum load, and reached 22.4% to 46%. This shows that the anchorage strength due to the bearing stress of headed bars has a significant effect on shear strength. The experimental shear strength was 2.68 to 4.65 times the theoretical shear strength by the practical method, and the practical method was evaluated as the safety side.

  • This study aims at choosing indicators to measure the effect of utilizing biotop map, and analyzing its effect by an indicator from the perspective of performer. The Primary performance indicators are made through specialist survey using SMART. As a result, three indicators are chosen: "Discussion of the period of an environmental effects evaluation(reduced effect)", "Plan and execution of environment and ecology plan in an urban development site", "Minimizing ecological damage in an urban development." The result in each indicator is as follows. The indicator of discussion of the period of an environmental effects evaluation(reduced effect), the average reduction rate in statistically meaningful level reduced 6.08% and 11.64% respectively in 2004-2005. In this period, environment information system was established and the reduction effect is shown in this period by reinforcing environment effect estimation using biotop map. As to the indicator of utilizing biotop map in an urban development site, the Seongnam P site case shows that biotop map was used when they set up an development plan. In case of minimizing ecological damage in an urban development, the Gwangjingu G-dong case shows that it was used to appoint preservation sit, and mediate development restrict area. Accordingly, the biotop map utilizing effect is confirmed through core performance indicators and verification of the indicators using SMART. The further research is encouraged to find evaluate indicators and verify the effect quantitatively to increase the use of biotop map.

  • Recent case studies in Japan have shown that rockbolts are commonly installed at an oblique angle to the excavation direction of the tunnel, instead of at a right angle, due to restriction of the working space. In particular, in the case of expansion in an existing tunnel, the working space can be very small, due to the large protective structures necessary to operate within an existing tunnel. In this case, where both the current use of the existing tunnel, and the reinforcement of the ground around the tunnel are required, the effects of installation angles and patterns of rockbolts are important factors in the design process. Therefore, in this study, a total number of 24 model tests are performed, to investigate the reinforcing effects of system bolting installed obliquely from the excavation direction of the tunnel, by changing the installation angle of bolts, longitudinal distance, and bonded length of bolts. The model test results indicate that the relaxed load ratio decreases, with the increase of both the bonded lengths and the number of the installed bolts, resulting in the decrease of the supported area by one bolt. Two-dimensional numerical analysis, which considered the reinforcement effect of inclined system bolting as the change of engineering properties near the tunnel, demonstrated that the deflection patterns at the tunnel crown in the numerical simulations, show a similar tendency to those measured in the model tests.

  • Recently, excavations using propped walls were popularized in downtown due to reduced settlement of nearby structures. These excavations is induced strain to propped walls or settlement in near ground. In this study, the ground reinforcing effect was proven using NDS, which is an inorganic injection material. Injection tests were performed to compute optimum injection pressure and volume. Next, calibration chamber tests were performed by using computed injection pressure and volume, and wall behaviour was examined for overburden pressures of 50kPa and 150kPa. Ground reinforcing effect was shown when the material behind the propped wall was grouted. From test results, optimum injection pressure was 350kPa and the optimum volume was 10L considering economics. Calibration chamber test results show that after the material was grouted, the maximum settlement was reduced to 19% of the non-grouted condition. For overburden pressures of 50kPa and 150kPa behind the wall, the settlement of the wall increased by 58% and 57% when compared to the case of no overburden pressure.

  • When a tunnel is excavated in a rock mass of poor condition, the adjacent zone of excavation surface may be reinforced by adopting the appropriate methods such as grouting and rock bolting. The reinforced effect can be evaluated by use of various numerical approaches, where the reinforcing elements may be expressed as distinct discretizations or smeared into the equivalent material properties. In this study, a simple numerical method, which can be classified as the latter approach, was developed for the elasto-plastic analysis of a circular tunnel. If a circular tunnel in a Mohr-Coulomb rock mass is reinforced to a finite thickness, the reinforced annulus may have different material properties from the in-situ rock mass. In the proposed elasto-plastic method for assessing the reinforcing effect, Lee & Pietruszczak (2007)'s method is applied to both the reinforced annulus and the outer insitu rock mass of the fictitious tunnel, and then two results are combined by enforcing the compatibility condition. The method were verified through comparing the results with the proposed method and the commercial finite difference code FLAC. When taking the variation of deformation modulus and strength parameters in the reinforced zone into account, the distributions of stress and radial displacement were much different from those obtained with the assumption of homogeneous rock mass.

  • If the safety factor does not secure the safety factor suggested in the design standard at the slope design stage, the safety factor is secured by installing an anchor. Stability analysis is used to verify the effect of reinforcing the slope of the anchor, but in this process, most of the anchor construction intervals are assumed to be equal and analyzed. For economical and effective slope reinforcement, stability analysis is required by adjusting the anchor construction interval. In this study, the effect of the anchor construction interval on the change of the safety factor of the slope was identified. Stability analysis was performed by setting a virtual slope with two berms and different anchor construction intervals. As a result of the analysis, the stability of the slope is secured when the anchor spacing of the lower surface is narrowed and the anchor gaps of the upper and middle surfaces are wider than when anchors are installed at the same intervals on the upper, middle, and lower surfaces of the slope. The result was a 15% reduction in the amount of anchors. This means that, rather than reinforcing anchors at the same intervals, it is economical and effective to have an economical and effective reinforcement effect to vary the anchor construction intervals according to the slope characteristics.

  • This paper presents the results of a parametric study on the bearing capacity behavior of a footing located above geogrid-reinforced ground using the finite element method of analysis. A wide range of boundary conditions were analyzed, with varing geogrid design parameters such as depth of geogrid layer, length and siffness of geogrid, and number of geogrid layer, were analyzed. Based on the results of analysis, the optimum geogrid design parameters were determined, which maximize the reinforcing effect of geogrid reinforcement for a given conidition. Furthermore, the mechanistic behavior of a geogrid-reinforced ground subjected to a footing load was discussed using the results of analysis such as stress distribution, propagation of plastic yielding, displacement vector among others.

  • In the applying of the reinforced soil method, it would be possible to obtain reinforcement effect more than before in terms of economic if high water content clayey soils could be used as embanking material. Futhermore it would be possible to expect the expansion of the applying field of reinforced soil method too. In this study, the authors describe the analysis results on the behavior of 5 meter high walls reinforced with nonwoven geotextile having the permeability and woven geotextile or geogrid having large tensile strength on the soil ground. The behavior of the walls were investigated for about 100 days after construction and the deformations of reinforcements, lateral soil pressures, vertical and horizontal displacements of the walls were examined by automatical measuring system. It was found that this kinds of reinforcing system might effectively improve the performance of the steep walls by virtue of the reciprocal action between soil and reinforcements, and it might be concluded that construction of the clayey reinforced soil walls with three kinds of geotextiles could be done successfully even on the comparative weak ground.

  • For the calculation of internal stability, the hypothesis in conventional design is on the basis of two distinct zones, which are‘active zone’and‘passive zone’. This means that there is an abrupt discontinuous transition from active to passive states across a potential failure line. The existence of a discontinuity of this nature appears physically unreasonable, especially from kinematic considerations. A series of pull-out model tests was undertaken from a wall being rotated about the toe to find the strain distribution mobilized from near the wall face into the deep, stable zone through the centre plane. With this finding of transition zone, the objective of study is aiming at identifying the likely effect of this zone in designing method by comparing with the prevailing design method.
