  • Regulatory fit occurs when the way people act accords with their goal orientation the activity. When there is regulatory fit, to pursue a goal feels light and also increases the value of what a person is doing-value from fit. Value from fit can be transferred to other value experiences such as monetary value. Present research proposes that regulatory fit occurs when the domain in which a decision or an evaluation is made sustains the decision maker's chronic goal orientation, and this regulatory fit affects the value that he or she assigns to the object. In Experiment 1, participants with chronic promotion or prevention focus evaluated their preference and purchase intention on 14 design products including positive and negative emotional valences. Results showed that evaluations on the product design (promotion domain) were more extreme under promotion than prevention, F(1, 95) 4.87, p < .05. In Experiment 2 with 16 moral scenarios including prescriptive and proscriptive morality, prevention-focus individuals evaluated immoral behaviors as more immoral than promotion-focus individuals only in the proscriptive scenarios (prevention domain), F(1, 139) = 4.14, p < .05. In prescriptive scenarios, regulatory fit effect was not found. Findings from both experiments suggest that regulatory fit occurs when the domain of an issue that people engage in sustains their goal orientation.

  • Green credit card is the card service to revitalize the eco-friendly life of the people, offering a variety of benefits to card users for supporting environment. The present research aims to examine the effect of individuals' regulatory focus (promotion focus vs. prevention focus) on their ethical behavior in the context of green credit/debit card services. This research examines whether green credit/debit card users behave ethically according to their regulatory focus. The results indicate that green credit/debit card users with a prevention focus are more likely to behave ethically compared to those with a promotion focus. The findings imply that regulatory focus may be an effective marketing and segmentation tool in facilitating individuals' ethical behavior.

  • Regulators often specify default values that are considered acceptable for use in risk analyses as input to regulatory decisions. Because both performing and validating a detailed risk analysis of a complex system are costly and time-consuming undertakings, the use of default values can greatly facilitate the process of performing a risk analysis in the first place as well as the process of reviewing and verifying the risk analysis. It may also ensure more uniform in quality of risk analyses. However, different regulatory agencies differ in their approaches to the use of default values, and the implications of these differences are not yet widely understood. Moreover, large heterogeneity among licensees makes it difficult to set suitable defaults. This paper focuses on the effect of default values on estimates of risk. Some insights on the effects of different levels of conservatism in setting defaults will be provided. The results can help decision makers evaluate the levels of safety likely to result from their regulatory policies.

  • When ginseng saponin fractions were treated with secretion regulatory agents, it increased cAMP level at the case of thyrotropin (but the amounts were small). Total saponin increased cAMP level at DEcAMP and isoproterenol, and decreased the level at carbachol and propranolol, but at NaF it had little effect. When diol saponin or triol saponin were treated with secretion regulatory agents, biol saponin decreased cAMP level but triol saponin increased it except for isoproterenol. Also, in propra%olol, which inhibits the increase of CAMP level, diol and triol saponin showed crossing effect, too. From the above results, ginseng saponin fractions are believed that it has the, effects of promotion or inhibition on cAMP production in the thyroid , both diol saponin and triol saponin have crossing effect on thyroid hormone secretion regulatory agents. The normalizatin action of ginseng saponin fractions is notable at the case of NaF and carbachol.

  • This research was to investigate the role of message regulatory focus on the advertising effect of multiple models. The multiple models are limited to two models in one advertisement in this research. This research investigated the hypothesis that multiple models, in terms of multiple source effect and social consensus, appears specifically to enhance the relationship of consumer and commercial models on the conditions of promotion-focused message which leads to the information processing of relational elaboration. This research applied a between-subjects factorial design targeting 2(the number of model: single model vs. multiple models) by 2(message regulatory focus: promotion-focused message vs. prevention-focused message). As a result, multiple models showed more positive ad attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention than did single model. And promotion-focused message with multiple models showed more positive ad attitude, brand attitude, and purchase intention than did prevention-focused message with multiple models. Also there was an interaction effect between the number of model and the type of message regulatory focus. It wasn't fully supported that there is no difference of advertising effect between promotion-focused message and prevention-focused message on the condition of single model.

  • This study is a study on the regulatory focus and entrepreneurship that affect entrepreneurial motivation under uncertainty. In the empirical analysis results between the prevention focus, risk taking, and economic entrepreneurial motive, which were not observed in previous studies in Korea, this study tried to supplementally verify the previous studies by focusing on the limitations of the sample suggested as limitations. In particular, under a special external environment where uncertainty is deepening due to COVID-19 and the economic situation is being severely hit, we regressively analyze regulatory focus and risk taking, which are innate personal characteristics that can affect entrepreneurial motives. The mediating effect of risk taking was demonstrated. As a result of the empirical results, it was found that the prevention focus, risk taking, and economic entrepreneurial motivation had a significant effect, and it was shown that risk taking had a mediating effect between the prevention focus and the economic entrepreneurial motivation. This result is meaningful as a result not observed in previous studies, and it is judged that the control focus, which is an individual characteristic with a large innate tendency, interacts with the risk taking of the acquired tendency to influence the motivation to start a business. The results of this study can be of practical help by understanding and concentrating on regulatory focus and risk taking when conducting entrepreneurship or entrepreneurship education programs to entrepreneurs who dream of or want to start a business amid the growing uncertainty of the external environment. On the other hand, it is necessary to confirm whether these results, which are different from previous studies, are the effect of sample diversity or the external environment such as Corona 19, and re-verification through additional research is needed in the future.

  • This paper tries to analyze the efficiency structure and regulatory effects in electric power industry by using total factor productivity and indices based on cost function method. This paper performed an empirical analysis on the efficiency improvement and optimal scale taking the cost aspect in electricity industry into account. By expanding the cost structure framework, this paper proposes the analytical method regarding the needs of technology regulation and presents the empirical results which can be verified. Hence, this work can play a key role in decision-making of the national power development and regulatory policy. The empirical result indicates that the electricity industry in Korea has been in the state of economies of scale until 1980s, However, due to sustained growth of power generation, economies of scale declined and subsided after 1980s and then diseconomies of scale is shown recent years. The analysis on the effect of technology regulation shows the national large-scale base-load power plant development-oriented policy until so far contributed substantial cost effect to the electricity industry. The empirical result indicates that the reserve requirement as one of means of technology regulation policy did not contribute to the economies of scale but positive effect on the total factor productivity in Korea.

  • Purpose: This paper examines the theoretical grounds for the disclosure of the Korea Fair Trade Commission. Three central measures of the disclosure are scrutinized: The interconnected status of affiliate companies, the important matters of private affiliates, and the large internal transactions. Contemplating on three measures, respectively, we review the rationale and derive policy implications. Research design, data, and methodology: Collecting the data of violation rates and remedial measures, we analyze the intensity of the disclosure enforcement. These statistics are critically reviewed by the economic literature of mandatory disclosure. Results: Statistics evince that the Korea Fair Trade Commission has enforced the regulatory disclosure quite successfully. Violation rates of the disclosure has declined from the outset. It demonstrates that the Korea Fair Trade Commission has enforced those measures satisfactorily for about a decade. But we cannot ascertain empirically whether the regulatory disclosures are socially and economically beneficial. To evaluate the effect of the regulatory disclosures precisely, we need a further empirical investigation. Conclusions: Despite the lack of policy evaluation, this study suggests complementary measures for current disclosures. First, disclosure of executive compensation in privately held subsidiaries must be introduced. Second, the controlling shareholder/manager should be responsible for information disclosure on foreign subsidiaries.

  • The metaverse is emerging as the next digital environment for people not only to interact and collaborate with others, but also to have virtual consumption experiences. In this study, virtual fashion items for the consumer's digital self are deemed significant products with consumption value. Drawing from the regulatory focus theory, this study examines how consumers' promotion and prevention focus influence value perception and buying behaviors of virtual fashion items in the metaverse context. The data were collected through an online survey. A total of 546 consumers in their twenties who are aware of the metaverse responded to a self-administered questionnaire. The results showed that promotion focus influenced all the perceived consumption values of virtual fashion items such as the economic, visual authority, hedonic, and social value, whereas prevention focus influenced only the visual authority value. Visual authority value negatively affected both purchase intention and willingness to pay premium price, while others had a positive effect. The findings provide theoretical evidence that consumers' regulatory focus is critical in buying virtual fashion items and suggest that marketers devise effective strategies to stimulate consumers' regulatory focus and to emphasize the economic, hedonic, and social value of the items in the metaverse context.
