Series Compensated Step-down AC Voltage Regulator using AC Chopper with Transformer

  • This paper describes a step-down AC voltage regulator using an AC chopper and auxiliary transformer, which is a series connected to the main input. The detail design of the AC regulator, logic and PWM pattern of the AC chopper is described and the three-phase AC regulator using two single­phase AC choppers with a three transformer configuration is proposed for three-phase application. The proposed three-phase system has the advantages of lower system cost due to reduced switch number and gate driver circuit as well as advantages of decreased size and weight because it uses a series compensated scheme. The proposed AC regulator has many benefits such as fast voltage control, high efficiency and simple control logic. Experimental results indicate that it can be used as a step-down AC voltage regulator for power saving purposes very efficiently.

  • The flow regulators we widely use have some disadvantages. They have a constant flow within each regulator and an inaccuracy with extruding capillary. In this study, we have developed a new type of regulator which was made up of two different capillary tubes overlapped each other. The developed regulator can vary and control the amount of flow. The design parameters of the developed regulator are obtained by using the analytical software. We have proved that the developed regulator can control flow properly through making a trial product and experiment.

저궤도 인공위성용 태양전력 조절기 설계 (A Design of Solar Array Regulator for LEO Satellites)

  • The solar array regulator supplies the electric power to the battery and the other units of a satellite by controlling the operating point of a solar array. In this paper, the solar array regulator composed with analog circuits is proposed. The solar array regulator has three modes. The first is a maximum power point tracking mode for harvesting the maximum photovoltaic power generation. The second is a power limitation mode which is designed for optimizing the volume and weight of the solar array regulator by preventing the excessive power conversion. The last constant voltage mode is proposed to keep the Li-Ion battery is not over-charge. The small signal model of the solar array regulator which has the reversed input and output variables in comparison with conventional converter is established and the stability is analysed. Finally, the proposed design of the solar array regulator is verified by experiments.

  • 정전압기는 VCO의 제어전압의 전원 잡음을 줄이기 위해 사용될 수 있다. 정 전압기의 최적 설계를 위해선 정전압기에 대한 정확한 해석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 최근 발표된 논문의 정전압기 해석 과정에 MOSFET의 기생 커패시턴스 성분을 고려하지 않은 문제점을 보완하였다. 이 문제점을 이론적으로 분석하여 정확한 해석을 유도하였고, 회로 시뮬레이션과 측정을 통해 검증하였다. 정전압기는 $0.18{\mu}m$ 1P6M CMOS 공정으로 설계되었고, 칩 면적은 $1mm^2$ 이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 교류쵸퍼와 직렬보상변압기로 구성되는 교류전압제어장치에 대하여 연구한다. 먼저, 교류쵸퍼와 직렬보상변압기로 구성되는 기본적인 교류전압제어장치로 출력전압을 입력전압에서 10-20%정도 강압할 수 있는 형태의 강압형 교류전압 제어장치를 제안하고 기본동작원리 및 이의 안전한 운전을 위한 PWM 발생과 초기시퀀스로직을 제시하였다. 또한 이로부터 입력전압변동에 무관하게 일정 출력전압을 발생시키기 위한 자동전압제어장치(AVR: Automatic Voltage Regulator)로 사용가능한 두가지 형태의 직렬보상형 교류전압제어장치를 제안하고 동작원리를 기술하였다. 특히, 입력전압과 반대방향의 극성의 전압을 발생시킬 수 있는 새로운 형태의 양방향 교류쵸퍼를 제안하고, 이의 안전한 운전을 위한 PWM 발생을 위한 스위칭 패턴을 제시하였다. 제안된 교류전압제어회로의 경우 다양한 실험을 통하여 전력절감을 목적으로 하는 강압형 교류전압제어장치와 자동전압조절기의 용도로 효과적으로 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

과도응답을 향상시킨 피드백 구조를 갖는 LDO 레귤레이터 (LDO Regulator with Feedback Network Improved Transient Response)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 LDO 레귤레이터에서 간단한 피드백 구조를 이용하여 과도응답을 향상시킨 LDO 레귤레이터를 제안한다. 이 제안된 회로는 기존 LDO 레귤레이터에서 나타나는 오버슈트의 응답시간을 감소시켜 더 안정적인 동작을 하도록 하는 피드백 구조를 갖는다. 제안 된 피드백 구조는 큰 면적의 변화 없이 기존 LDO 레귤레이터와 같은 동작을 하며, 출력에서의 노이즈를 갖는 LDO 레귤레이터의 단점을 보완한다. 설계한 회로는 동부 하이텍의 0.18um CMOS 공정을 이용하였다.

  • The importance of variable displacement piston pump is recently increasing in industrial applications, as it is widely used for raising the energy level of the fluid in hydraulic system. The regulator is the device that controls the pump output flow depending on the machine load and engine speed, and that regulates the discharge flow of the piston pump by controlling the swivel angel. This work deals with constant power control of a regulator system in bent-axis type piston pump. In order to use engine power effectively, it is important to keep the horsepower from the engine to the pump constant. Therefore, optimum power usage is obtained by accurately following the power hyperbola. First, the governing equations of the regulator are derived, and analysis is performed by numerical simulation in which significant parameters of regulator are identified. Also, we designed and manufactured the prototype of the constant power control regulator for experiments. The experimental results show the responsibility and pressure-flowrate characteristics and these are compared with the theoretical analysis. As the result, it is confirmed that the characteristics of the designed regulator correspond to the numerical simulation.

A Capacitor-less Low Dropout Regulator for Enhanced Power Supply Rejection

  • Various power supply noise sources in a system integrated circuit degrade the performance of a low dropout (LDO) regulator. In this paper, a capacitor-less low dropout regulator for enhanced power supply rejection is proposed to provide good power supply rejection (PSR) performance. The proposed scheme is implemented by an additional capacitor at a gate node of a pass transistor. Simulation results show that the PSR performance of the proposed LDO regulator depends on the capacitance value at the gate node of the pass transistor, that it can be maximized, and that it outperforms a conventional LDO regulator.

  • This paper describes an AC voltage regulator using AC chopper and auxiliary transformer which is series connected with main input. It has many advantages such as fast voltage control, high efficiency and low THD. A detail study of step down AC voltage regulator is described and two kinds of novel step-up/down voltage regulator for AVR are proposed. The operation principle and PWM method of the proposed regulator are described. Experimental results show that it can be used as AC voltage regulator for special purpose very efficiently.

압력평형메커니즘을 이용한 초소형 수동형 기체 압력조정기 (A Micro Passive Gas Pressure Regulator using Pressure Balance Mechanism)

  • This paper presents the analysis, the fabrication and the test results of a micro passive gas pressure regulator to keep the outlet pressure costant even for a widely-varying inlet pressure. This device is to regulate the outlet pressure according to the applied reference pressure based on the pressure balancing mechanism of the structure including a membrane and a valve. This regulator consists of four layers; a bulk-micromachined silicon substrate, a sandblasted glass substrate, a PDMS valve seat layer and a glass valve layer. The device size is $10\times13\times1.7 mm3$. The device was fabricated by micromachining. The characteristic of the device was analyzed and tested. The characteristic of the fabricated pressure regulator is similar to that obtained from the analysis. The pressure regulator of this paper is feasible for portable systems and miniature drug delivery systems.
