  • This paper analyzes the relations between design errors, prevented by building information modeling (BIM)-based design validation, and their impacts in order to identify critical consideration factors for implementing BIM-based design validation in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) projects. More than 800 design errors detected by BIM-based design validation in two BIM-based projects in South Korea are categorized according to their causes (illogical error, discrepancy, and missing item) and work types (structure, architecture, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP)). The probabilistic relations among the independent variables, including the causes and work types of design errors, and the dependent variables, including the project delays, cost overruns, low quality, and rework generation that can be caused by these errors, are analyzed using logistic regression. The characteristics of each design error are analyzed by means of face-to-face interviews with practitioners. According to the results, the impacts of design error causes in predicting the probability values of project delays, cost overruns, low quality, and rework generation were statistically meaningful.

  • This study examines different individual, family, and school environmental variables that affect victimization by peer aggression among adolescents. The sample consists of 868 seventh and eighth graders. Statistics and method for data analysis include Cronbach's alpha, percentage, means, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and hierarchical regression. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, adolescents, both withdrawn and aggressive, have lower achievement in school work. Boys experience more direct victimization by peer aggression. Adolescents, especially boys, often experience indirect victimization by peer aggression, when they become withdrawn, own lower self-esteem, and have lower achievement in school work. Second, adolescents have more direct victimization by peer aggression when their parents are negligent of them. Also, adolescents seem exposed to indirect victimization by peer aggression when they receive more physical and emotional abuse and negligence from their parents. Third, adolescents experience more victimization by peer aggression-whether it's direct or indirect, when they cannot get adjusted to peer relations and get teachers' supervision. Fourth, as to direct victimization by peer aggression, withdrawal, one of the individual variables, is the most reliable prediction followed by gender, negligence, adaptability in peer relations, aggression, and teacher's supervision in sequence. For indirect victimization by peer aggression, withdrawal is the most reliable prediction followed by adaptability in peer relations, gender, physical and emotional abuse, and negligence in sequence.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the relations between 6th graders' negative cognitive process and anger experience and aggressiveness. To achieve the goal, it conducted a test to examine children's negative cognitive process, anger experience, aggressiveness targeting 100 children of 6th grade in C elementary school, Gyeonggj province. Then it conducted SPSS 12.0 statistical program to get the results of correlation analysis and regression analysis. The outcomes were as follows. First, there was a meaningfully positive relation between a negative cognitive process and anger experience. In other words, children having more negative cognitive process seemed to experience the feelings of anger more often, this presented the important role of cognition while getting into a temper Second, it reported a positive relation between anger experience and aggressiveness. Children who have experienced anger more often showed more violent behaviors, especially there were more significant positive relations between trait-anger and aggressiveness compared to state-anger and aggressiveness. This could explain some possibilities that children with high level of trait-anger might outrage more often than others by recognizing the situations as anger stimulants. Third, when conducting a regression analysis, a negative cognitive process made an effect on anger experience which affected aggressiveness. However, it did not show a negative cognitive process making a direct effect on aggressiveness. This is considered that children could experience an anger while evaluating an event or object in a negative way based on individual belief, and emotional linguistic behavioral aggressiveness would be formalized as they express the sparked fury either internally or externally. In conclusion, this study proved that there were close relations between children's negative cognitive process and anger experience and aggressiveness. A negative cognitive process affects anger experience, and anger experience affects aggressiveness afterwards. A negative cognitive process affects aggressiveness through anger experience indirectly, and especially trait-anger among anger experience is the main factor to influence on aggressiveness. With consideration of these results, it is believed that mediation is important key to moderate the negative cognition and trait-anger in order to diminish children's aggressive behaviors. This study has a meaning to provide searching for manifold mediating methods between negative cognition and trait anger, with a fundamental resource.

  • The relations of crown width and DBH for Pinus densiflora, Pinus rigida, Pinus koraiensis, and Ginkgo biloba were accomplished to estimate the level of crown competition. Measurements of the relations revealed that crown width and DBH were highly correlated for the same species. Also it seems that these relations are independent of age and site quality. The results of regression analysis were as follow: P. densiflora, Y=0.3477X+0.3828 r=0.95 p. rigida, Y=0.3537X+0.1645 r=0.95 P. koraiensis, Y=0.2895X+0.6310 r=0.92 G. biloba, Y=0.4360X+0.0995 r=0.90 The significant differences between G. biloba and pine species seems due to their structural differences of crown formation according to tree species. As results of computing Maximum Crown Area and Crown Competition Factor as indices of crown competition, they indicated that P. densiflora would grow better under the natural conditions.
