Purpose The purpose of this study is to design a regional electricity planning model rather than the existing single region ones and verify its usefulness. The regional electricity planning model is to determine both electricity distribution among regions and power plant planning at the same time satisfying regional demands and distribution networks. Design/methodology/approach This study made a regional electricity planning model by integrating power plant planning and electricity distribution among regions. The regional electricity planning model is formulated into a linear programming problem, and coded and run using the OSeMOSYS, one of open source energy systems. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that the regional electricity planning model proposed in this study deducts the unfairness among regions in view of electricity and green house gas. In addition, the model is expected to be used in evaluating and developing the national policies concerning fine dust and/or green house gas.

A major effect of electronic commerce on the Internet is that it reduces transaction costs and creates an efficient market. Thus, an information strategy for developing of regional economy must be changed toward 21st century of electronic commerce era. In this paper, we present an information strategy for activating the electronic commerce of regional small and medium-sized business organizations. The paper stresses creation of a network organization comprising local government, regional business organizations, universities, research institutes, and citizens' coalitions as groups of organizational actors. Necessary conditions of a successful network organization in electronic commerce are to build the public key infrastructure for developing the trust of transactions among partners, and to create an information center to manage a web of partners. In the network organization, the information center must play critical roles as a creator of value and the certification authority in order to issue and manage participants' electronic certificates.

Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a public health emergency posing unprecedented challenges for health authorities. Social media may serve as an effective platform to disseminate health-related information. This study aimed to assess the extent of social media use, its impact on preventive behavior, and negative health effects such as cyberchondria and information overload. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted between June 10, 2020 and August 9, 2020 among people visiting the outpatient department of the authors' institution, and participants were also recruited during field visits for an awareness drive. Questions were developed on preventive behavior, and the Short Cyberchondria Scale and instruments dealing with information overload and perceived vulnerability were used. Results: The study recruited 767 participants with a mean age of about 45 years. Most of the participants (>90%) engaged in preventive behaviors, which were influenced by the extent of information received through social media platforms (β=3.297; p<0.001) and awareness of infection when a family member tested positive (β=29.082; p<0.001) or a neighbor tested positive (β=27.964; p<0.001). The majority (63.0%) of individuals often searched for COVID-19 related news on social media platforms. The mean±standard deviation scores for cyberchondria and information overload were 9.09±4.05 and 8.69±2.56, respectively. Significant and moderately strong correlations were found between cyberchondria, information overload, and perceived vulnerability to COVID-19. Conclusions: This study provides evidence that the use of social media as an information- seeking platform altered preventive behavior. However, excessive and misleading information resulted in cyberchondria and information overload.

The purpose of this paper is to identify determinants of regional export in Korea using the interregional input-output table and SUR(Seemingly Unrelated Regression) model. Regional exports are classified into four groups; intraindustry intraregional export, interindustry intraregional export, intraindustry interregional export and interindustry interregional export. Labor productivity, scale economies, market size, and international trade volumes have positively influenced regional exports while the interregional distances having a negative effect on them. These results imply that it is necessary to operate regional strategies to enhance productivities and market size and to reduce transportation and distribution costs for revitalize a regional economy by increasing regional exports.

This study aims at analysing basic operational grounds of regional financial institutions in Pusan. Since 1980s many papers have discussed the issues how to develop the regional financial market. But they have neglected regional financial institutions and failed to clarify their roles in the regional economy. Recently the central government expels many regional financial institutions under financial distresses from the regional financial market without assessing their roles in the regional economy. This paper shows that regional financial institutions are indispensible for the stability and development of the regional economy, especially because they can supply credit to the small firms and households which have vulnerable credit standings and are tightly constrained in their access to bank credit. This paper also examines how credit unions deal with the problems caused by asymmetric information after the collapse of solidarity.

To enhance the usability of smart agriculture, methods for utilizing smart farm data are required. Therefore, this study proposes a scheme for utilizing regional smart farm data by linking it to services. The current status of domestic and foreign smart farm data collection and linkage services is analyzed. To collect and link regional smart farm data, necessary data collection, data cleaning, data storage structure and schema, and data storage and linkage systems are proposed. Based on the standards currently being implemented for regional smart farm internal data storage, a farm schema, environmental information schema, facility control information schema, and growth information schema are designed by extending the crop schema and crop main environmental factor information database schema. A data collection and management system structure based on the Hadoop Ecosystem is designed for data collection and management at regional smart farm data centers. Strategies are proposed for utilizing regional smart farm data to provide smart farm productivity improvement and revenue optimization services, image-based crop analysis services, and virtual reality-based smart farm simulation services.

This research was to analyze information network which contributed Anyang Venture Valley's development. And mutual communication between regional innovated companies was the essential factor of this growth. Anyang city with its Knowledge Industry Promotion Agency, KIPA, has first set up communication network, facility and other structures to create basis of communication. For that, they were able to operate various networking and promotion of communication which led to the enforcement of regional innovation in venture businesses. During its innovation, KIPA played a key role as a link between regional Innovated companies, which enabled active interactions between them. Government can verify significance of establishing network base with mediation function for lively communication for promoting innovation capability through Anyang Venture Valley's case.

For planning and developing rural regions, it is very important to understand and utilize regional characteristics including social, demographic, and economic aspects. The purpose of this study is to find effective analysis techniques and provide a procedure design for mining regional characteristics in South Korea through reviewing and analyzing 41 related studies. The engaged research methods can be classified into five categories (PCA+CA, PCA, CA, GIS, and PCA+GIS) with the combination of three methodologies: principal component analysis (PCA), cluster analysis (CA), and geographical information system (GIS). The combination of PCA and CA occupied about 40 % of research methods used in related studies. The analysis tool of Korean Rural Information Supporting System (KRISS) is designed based on the outcomes of this study and applied to classify the regional capacity of agriculture using agricultural census data (2000) for evaluating its applicability.
