The emission factor of nitrogen oxides(NOx) was evaluate to clarify the characteristics of NOx emitted from seven large combustion facilities in seoul area. The emission factors of NOx at A-1 and A-2 facilities of internal combustion engine were 66.957kgNOx/ton and 20.913kgNOx/ton, respectively. The emission factor of A-1 facility was higher than that of A-2 facility even same internal combustion engine, because A-1 facility adopted SCR(selective catalystic reactor) for reduction of NOx emission factor of A-2, A-4, and A-7 power generation boiler facilities were 4.300kgNOx/ton, 2.460kgNOx/ton and 1.796kgNOx/ton, respectively. The capacity of A-2 facility was about two times than that of A-4 and A-7. These emission factors were lower than those at facilities in other areas of korea, because of using low NOx burner of power generation boiler. The emission factors of NOx at A-3 and A-6 incinerator facilities were 0.147kgNOx/ton and 0.221kgNOx/ton which were lower than other facilities, respectively, because these facilities incinerate municipal solid waste of low heating value and uwe SCR for reducing NOx concentration.

The sponge city construction is being carried out in China, and how to reasonably determine the scale of the sponge city facilities is a key point that the planners and designers should seriously solve. In this paper, taking determination of the sponge city facilities in a residential building in Shenzhen as an example, the layout and scales of the rainwater tanks, raingardens, ecological roofs and permeable pavements are decided by using the volumetric method and stormwater management model (SWMM). The calculated results by the two methods are compared and analyzed. The results show that the scales of the sponge city facilities determined by the two methods are almost the same, and it means that any method can be used to determine the scale of sponge city facilities. The volumetric method is relatively simple, and it is suggested to use to determine the scale of sponge city facilities during planning stage. While SWMM is more complex and requires a lot of input conditions, but it can provide the reduction effects of the sponge city facilities for rainfalls with different recurrence periods. Therefore, SWMM is recommended to use the calculation of the hydrological process of the sponge city facilities during the design stage.

Like most OECD countries, Korea is experiencing a decline in population and demographic changes, deterioration of public facilities, and limited investment in public facilities maintenance due to low economic growth and increased welfare budgets. In this case, not only the inconvenience of using the public facilities can lead to the occurrence of an accident due to the damage of the facilities. However, as the importance of the management of public facilities has not been recognized yet, new policies are being promoted. Korea is expected to reduce the total population since the late 2020s, and there will be a large difference in population reduction between the cities, towns, and towns within the same administrative districts. Therefore, it is necessary to change the management policy regarding the change in demand of public facilities due to population change such as population decrease and aging. Accordingly, this study analyzes the management policies and actual conditions of public facilities in Korea, and suggests the implications for public facilities management by analyzing Japan's public facilities management policies that faced population change and deterioration of public facilities before Korea. The key change in Japan's public facilities management policy is the transition from new to maintenance, which has managed public facilities in terms of existing safety management and asset management.
The integrated solid waste management for Seoul Metropolitan city can be established on the basis of the following hierarchy of priorities: 1. Efforts for source reduction should be propelled by both government and citizens to achieve the effects of resource conservation. The adequate production and consumption which are environmentally amenable and sustainable can be induced by the reasonable imposition of deposit money for waste treatment to one-time use products. To accomplish source reduction effectively, the induction of legal and institutional regulation of producer and consumer participation is requisite. 2. For resource recovery, wastes generated should be recycled as far as practicable. Community residents are responsible to separate discharge, the authorities concerned have responsibility of separate collection, and recycling industry should be assissted through tax reduction and financing. Resource separation facilities can be constructed at Kimpo Metropolitan landfill site for wastes not separately collected due to some unavoidable circumstances. 3. Garbage should be composted. Garbage is uneconomical for incineration, because it has high moisture content and low calorie, thus there is no reason for the incineration of garbage even though garbage is classified into combustibles. Composting facilities can be located at sites which are not densely populated and easily accessible to transportation, for example, Kimpo Metropolitan landfill site. Compost produced can be managed by the authorities for the use of fertilizer to a green tract of suburban land and farms. 4. Nonhazardous combustible wastes not recyclable can be utilized for thermal recovery at the incinerators which are completely equipped with pollution control devices. According to the trend of local autonomy and the equity principle of local autonomous entities, incineration facilities of minimal capacity required can be constructed at each districts of Seoul Metropolitan city which have organized local assembly. In case of Yangcheon district, the economically combustible waste quantity is about 260 tons/day which exceeds 150 tons/day, the incineration capacity of existing facility. But, from now on, waste quantity can be reduced substantially by the intensive efforts of citizens for source reduction and recycling and the institutional support of administrative organizations. Especially, it is indispensable for the government to constitute institutional and technological bases that can recycle paper and plastics form 43% of waste generated. A good time for constructing of incineration facilities for municipal solid waste can be postponed to the time that pollution control technologies of domestic enterprises are fully developed to satisfy the standards of air pollution prevention, because the life expectancy of Kimpo Metropolitan landfill site is about 25 years. Within this period, institutional improvements and technological advancements can be attained, while the air qual. ity of Seoul Metropolitan city can be ameliorated to the level to afford incineration facilities. 5. For final disposal, incombustibles and ash are landfilled sanitarily at Kimpo Metropolitan landfill site.

Efficient simultaneous reduction conditions for $NO_x$ and $NH_3$-slip was investigated in SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) process with load variation by applying dual catalysts (SCR catalyst, $NH_3$ decomposition catalyst) system. $N_2O$ formation characteristics were analyzed to look into possible undesirable reaction pathways. In the experiments of catalyst characteristics, various operational variables were tested for the combined catalytic system, such as $NH_3/NO_x$ ratio, temperature, oxygen concentration and $H_2O$. The reaction characteristics of $NO_x$, $NH_3$ and $N_2O$ were analyzed and optimal conditions could be evaluated for the combustion facility with varied load. In terms of $NO_x/NH_3$ simultaneous reduction and $N_2O$ formation suppression, optimal condition was considered NSR 1.2 and temperature $300^{\circ}C$. At this operational condition, $NO_x$ conversion was 98%, $NH_3$ reduction efficiency was 95%, generated $N_2O$ concentration 9.5 ppm with inlet $NO_x$ concentration of 100 ppm. In $NH_3-SCR$ process with $NH_3$ decomposition catalyst, $NO_x$ and $NH_3$ can be considered to be reduced simultaneously at limited conditions. The results of this study may be utilized as basic data at facilities requiring simultaneous $NO_x$ and $NH_3$ reduction for facilities with load variation.
The ways of producing metal silicon include a carbon reduction method, a plasma reduction method, and a thermite reaction method. The carbon reduction process produces metal silicon by metallurgical refining. The carbon reduction method is produced by adding a raw material mixed with quartz and coke to an electric arc furnace which is for carbon reduction. The cost of high energy costs and environmental protection facilities is an issue when producing metal silicon using electric arc furnaces. For this reason, there is no metal silicon production facility in Korea yet. Therefore, the optimal manufacturing conditions by the carbon reduction method are being studied through the experimental facilities by the companies and research institutes. The present study investigated the change of metal silicon purity according to the purity of silicon when extracting metal silicon using the thermit reaction, which has a relatively lower manufacturing cost than the carbon reduction method.
With the changing consciousness of community people and the rising standard of living, there has recently been an emphasis on the creation of public facilities' new functions and their role as local community facilities. This changing trends are accordingly requiring a change in spatial structure of the public facilities. In this study, an analysis was conducted with 24 public facilities situated in the Buk-gu district of Daegu to identify the adequacy of their space scale after functional variation. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) The site area of public facilities has been being widened after functional variation since more spaces are needed to provide an outdoor resting space with community people, expand a parking space, and operate a community center. 2) The factors that had a direct effect on the change in the use of space are the reduced space for administrative work and the expanded scope of the community center's function. Specifically, the areas of activities for civil service and administrative work and for reserve forces have been reduced due to reduction of function, and floor division by each function group has been becoming stricter due to addition of a community center's function. 3) It was shown that in terms of the space for functions of public facilities, spaces for civil service and waiting have increased mostly after function variation. After functional variation, the scale of spaces for civil service and administrative work has been being planned within the range of $200\~300 m^2$, regardless of the number of population to be covered by public facilities. 4) The space for public use is showing the greatest increase in public facilities which have been built after functional variation. The major factors seem to be the increased moving passages, the expanded convenient facilities for community people, and the increased convenient facilities for disabled. Facilities scale plans have been being made more systematically, compared to the conventional facilities.
This study for middle school facilities is second following the study of the energy consumption of primary school facilities. There is not on the analysis of the current energy usage for middle school facilities in nations to set goals of energy reduction. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to present various analysis result of energy consumption which is a statistical analysis of domestic middle school facilities in South Korea. As a consequence, each average energy consumption at the domestic middle school facilities analyzed as following after changing as unit 'kWh' only for comparison with every energy source. It represents that the energy consumption of electric power was 183.7MWh(70.2%), gas consumption for heating was 46.5MWh(17.8%), oil consumption was 26.5MWh(10.1%), district energy was 5.1MWh(1.9%). This result describes that consumption of electric power was large greatly and it reflects the expectation that it will climb the demand regarding this energy in the future. In additionally, it analyzed average energy consumption with $74.4kWh/m^2$ by the unit area of air-conditioning and the district which has large energy consumption was Seoul with $91.6kWh/m^2$.
Agricultural production facilities that have been established to support improving food production, farm income, and reduction of farming time have remarkable achievements as value-neutral devices or infrastructures, but recently they are pointed out as a factor that hinders landscape by changing the contextual values of rural area. Despite this timelessness, research on the landscape design of agricultural production facilities has not been conducted until now. Based on these research necessities, this study aims to improve the process of reviewing the landscape of agricultural production facilities by analyzing the impact of activities, policies, plans. The results of this study are as follows. First, the analysis of the literature and the related data were carried out. This presents the structural limitations of why landscape review is difficult in the process of reviewing plans and the limitations of current landscape laws, deliberations, and plans. The process of reviewing the plan has formed a functionally oriented closed network, and the government policy does not properly control the landscape design of agricultural production facilities. From the viewpoint of the study, results can be used as basic data for the study of the lack of agricultural production facilities and landscape.
To minimize the impact of urbanization, accurate performance evaluation of Low Impact Development (LID) facilities is needed. In Korea, the method designed to evaluate large-scale non-point pollution reduction facilities is being applied to LID facilities. However, it has been pointed out that this method is not suitable for evaluating the performance of relatively small-scale installed LID facilities. In this study, a new design formula was proposed based on the ratio of LID facility area and contributing drainage area, for estimating the Stormwater Interception Ratio (SIR) for LID facilities. The SIR was estimated for bio-retentions, infiltration trenches and vegetative swales, which are typical LID facilities, under various conditions through long-term stormwater simulation using the LID module of EPA SWMM. Based on the results of these numerical experiments, the new SIR formula for each LID facility was derived. The sensitivity of the proposed SIR formula to local rainfall properties and design variables is analysed. In addition, the SIR formula was compared with the existing design formula, the Rainfall Interception Ratio (RIR).
