The spatial coherence function of laser beam was measured by using a Sagnac interferometer and self referencing technique. For laser beam passing through a narrow slit, absolute value of measured spatial coherence function becomes more symmetric as the slit size is reduced. For diverging beams, the spatial coherence function shows fast oscillations in its real and imaginary parts. We explain this by using a Gaussian Schell-model. One can use this measurement method to study and characterize the property of light field coming out of small sample.
This paper is concerned with the International Standard ISO 2859-1 (1989), Sampling Plans Indexed by Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) for Lot-by-Lot Inspection, his standard is AQL type sampling scheme, and incorporates switching rules to move among normal, tightened, and reduced inspections. Sample size code letters and inspection levels of ISO 2859-1 are the same as those of other attributes standards MIL-STD-105D, ANSI Z1.4, and KS A 3109. But ISO 2859-1 has more simple switching rules than KS A 3109 has. The sampling procedures of the ISO 2859-1 are matched to the variables international standard ISO 3951 to enable us to move between them. Composite OC and ASN curves are given for AQL 2.5% and code letter F.

[ $(Y_{0.5}Sm_{0.25}Nd_{0.25})Ba_2Cu_3O_y$ ] [(YSN)-123] high $T_c$ composite superconductors with $CeO_2$ addition were systematically investigated by top seeded melt growth (TSMG) process in air atmosphere. A melt textured $NdBa_2Cu_3O_y$ (Nd-123) single crystal was used as a seed for achieving the c-axis alignment large grains perpendicular to the surface of (YSN)-123 composite oxides. The size of $(Y_{0.5}Sm_{0.25}Nd_{0.25})_2BaCuO_5$ [(YSN)211] nonsuperconducting inclusions of the melt textured (YSN)-123 samples with $CeO_2$ addition were remarkably reduced and uniformly distributed within the (YSN)123 superconducting matrix except in the region very close to the Nd-123 seed crystal. The sample showed a sharp superconducting transition of 91 K.

An efficient file allocation algorithm and a new method which calculate appraisal value of candidate computer site for distributed computer systems are proposed. The file allocation problem size is reduced by using the preassignment condition. The appraisal value of candidate node is calcualted as the user state array and node state array are varied according to control variables. As the selection criteria is applied to the candidates, the reasonable node is selected and assign state is determined. The proposed algorithm is heuriatic polynomial time algorithm. By performing algorithm for sample problems. It is shown that the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional method in terms of deviation from optimal solution.

A low temperature process technology of copper thin films has been developed by a chemical vapor deposition technology for multi-level metallzations in ULSI fabrication. The copper films were deposited on TiN/Si substrates in helium atmosphere with the substrate temperature between $130^{\circ}C$ and $250^{\circ}C$. In order to get more reliable metallizations, effects on the post-annealing treatment to the electrical properties of the copper films have been investigated. The Cu films were annealed at the $5 \times10^{-6}$ Torr vacuum condition and the electrical resistivity and the nano-structures were measured for the Cu films. The electrical resistivity of Cu films shown to be reduced by the post-annealing. The electrical resistivity of 2.0 $\mu \Omega \cdot \textrm{cm}$ was obtained for the sample deposited at the substrate temperature of $180^{\circ}C$ after vacuum annealed at $300^{\circ}C$. The resistivity variations of the films was not exactly matched with the size of the nano-structures of the copper grains, but more depended on the contamination of the copper films.

Copper thin films are prepared by a chemical vapor deposition technology for multi-level metallzations in ULSI fabrication. The copper films were deposited on TiN/Si substrates in helium atmosphere with the substrate temperature between $120^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. In order to get more reliable metallizations, effects on the post-annealing treatment to the electrical properties of the copper films have been investigated. The Cu films were annealed at the $5\times$10^{-6}$ Torr vacuum condition, and the electrical resistivity and the nano-structures were measured for the Cu films. The electrical resistivity of Cu films shown to be reduced by the post-annealing. The electrical resistivity of 2.2 $\mu$$\Omega$.cm was obtained for the sample deposited at the substrate temperature of $180^{\circ}C$ after vacuum annealed at $300^{\circ}C$. The resistivity variations of the films was not exactly matched with the size of the nato-structures of the copper grains, but more depended on the deposition temperature of the copper films.

Carbon master batch (CMB) rubber sheets, which are stored in stacks, are difficult to separate during reuse because of the adhesion between sheets caused by the stacked weight over time. To solve this problem, in the actual rubber product manufacturing process, various anti-tacking agents (solid powder or liquid surfactants) are applied to the sheet surface. In this study, the emulsion samples of zinc (Zn)-stearate/triethanolamine (TEA)-stearate mixtures were prepared using TEA-stearate as a surfactant, prepared using an industrially manufactured Zn-stearate powder, and their basic anti-tacking properties were studied. During the process of manufacturing emulsion, a heat treatment process and an auxiliary surfactant were introduced to improve the dispersion stability. Results showed that the heat-treated sample exhibited a significant improvement in terms of sedimentation, storage stability, and anti-tacking characteristics since the Zn-stearate particles were reduced to a smaller size by the heat-treatment than that of the original Zn-stearate powder.
Anti-tank weapons are among the infantry weapons used by the armies of many countries. Anti-tank rockets and explosives such as TNT, generally used for armour piercing, are also frequently used in terrorist attacks. These attacks damage the protection facilities built from reinforced concrete. Rockets or similar explosives' rapid speed and burst temperatures pierce reinforced concrete during strikes, resulting in casualties and damage to crucial strategic structures. This study aimed to devise an economic and applicable reinforced concrete plate that could absorb the impact of anti-tank rockets and Trinitrotoluene (TNT) type explosives. Therefore, 5 different samples, produced from C50 reinforced concrete and 150×150 cm in size, were formed by combining plates of different numbers and thicknesses. Also, a sample, which was a single thick plate, was prepared. In destructive testing, Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG-7) was used as the anti-tank rocket launcher. As a result of this study, the impact damage was reduced with hollow concrete plate geometries, and recommendations were developed for complete prevention.

A previous study (Berzaghi et al., 2001) evaluated the performance of 3 calibration methods, modified partial least squares (MPLS), local PLS (LOCAL) and artificial neural networks (ANN) on the prediction of the chemical composition of forages, using a large NIR database. The study used forage samples (n=25,977) from Australia, Europe (Belgium, Germany, Italy and Sweden) and North America (Canada and U.S.A) with reference values for moisture, crude protein and neutral detergent fibre content. The spectra of the samples were collected using 10 different Foss NIR Systems instruments, only some of which had been standardized to one master instrument. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the behaviour of these different calibration methods when predicting the same samples measured on different instruments. Twenty-two sealed samples of different kind of forages were measured in duplicate on seven instruments (one master and six slaves). Three sets of near infrared spectra (1100 to 2500nm) were created. The first set consisted of the spectra in their original form (unstandardized); the second set was created using a single sample standardization (Clone1); the third was created using a multiple sample procedure (Clone6). WinISI software (Infrasoft International Inc., Port Mathilda, PA, USA) was used to perform both types of standardization, Clone1 is just a photometric offset between a “master” instrument and the “slave” instrument. Clone6 modifies both the X-axis through a wavelength adjustment and the Y-axis through a simple regression wavelength by wavelength. The Clone1 procedure used one sample spectrally close to the centre of the population. The six samples used in Clone 6 were selected to cover the range of spectral variation in the sample set. The remaining fifteen samples were used to evaluate the performances of the different models. The predicted values for dry matter, protein and neutral detergent fibre from the master Instrument were considered as “reference Y values” when computing the statistics RMSEP, SEPC, R, Bias, Slope, mean GH (global Mahalanobis distance) and mean NH (neighbourhood Mahalanobis distance) for the 6 slave instruments. From the results we conclude that i) all the calibration techniques gave satisfactory results after standardization. Without standardization the predicted data from the slaves would have required slope and bias correction to produce acceptable statistics. ii) Standardization reduced the errors for all calibration methods and parameters tested, reducing not only systematic biases but also random errors. iii) Standardization removed slope effects that were significantly different from 1.0 in most of the cases. iv) Clone1 and Clone6 gave similar results except for NDF where Clone6 gave better RMSEP values than Clone1. v) GH and NH were reduced by half even with very large data sets including unstandardized spectra.
