LIVC 적용 밀러사이클 스파크점화기관의 유동특성 연구 (A Study on Flow Characteristics of Spark-Ignited Engine with Variable Intake Valve Closing Timing for Miller Cycle)

  • In this study, to research in-cylinder flow characteristics of spark-ignited engine with intake valve closing timing change for Miller cycle. 3D simulation study were used 6 different intake valve profile with $CAD10^{\circ}$ gap for retard intake valve closing timing. Comparison of In-cylinder flow pattern characteristic were accompanied between Base and LIVC. And the efficiency of volume and the work of compression were analyzed with simulation study. When intake valve closing angle was retarded in $CAD50^{\circ}$, the pressure in cylinder was decreased about 12~13 bar and volume efficiency was reduced about 16%. The efficiency of volume and the work of compression were reduced on LIVC.

  • The Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) utilized in Honda's Civic Hybrid Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system was developed with the aim of making every component lighter, more compact and more efficient than those in the former model. To reduce energy loss, inverter efficiency was increased by fine patterning of the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) chips, 12V DC-DC converter efficiency was increased by utilizing soft-switching, and the internal resistance of the IMA battery was lowered by modifying the electrodes and the current collecting structure. These improvements reduced the amount of heat generated by the unit components and made it possible to combine the previously separated Power Control Unit (PCU) and battery cooling systems into a single system. Consolidation of these two cooling circuits into one has reduced the volume of the newly developed IPU by 42% compared to the former model.

  • A collection efficiency of cyclone is influenced by cut-size and slope of grade efficiency curve. It has been recognized that the collection efficiency is improved when the cut-size is reduced. However, effects of the slope have never been studied so far. In this study, we analyze a relationship between slope of grade efficiency and collection efficiency in two-stage cyclones. In single stage cyclones, higher slope cyclones have high efficiency. On the contrary to single stage cyclone, collection efficiency of two-stage cyclone have the maximum value when the first cyclone has a lower slope and second cyclone is high.

  • This study proposes a new two-level condensation scheme for the construction of a reduced system. In the first step, the candidate area is selected for the construction of the reduced system by energy estimation in element-level. In the second step, primary degrees of freedom are selected by sequential elimination from the candidate degrees of freedom linked to the selected elements. Numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed method saves the computational cost effectively and provides a reduced system which predicts the eigenvalues accurately. Moreover, the well-constructed reduced system can present the reliable behavior of the structure under arbitrary dynamic loads comparing to that of global system. Time integration in a reduced system can save the computing time remarkably. Through a few numerical examples, the efficiency and reliability of the proposed scheme are verified.

An efficient seismic analysis technique for PCSG assembly using sub-structuring method and homogenization method

  • This study significantly reduced the seismic analysis time of PCSG assembly by introducing a reduced model using homogenization and sub-structuring methods. The homogenization method was applied to the primary and secondary micro-channel sheets, and the sub-structuring method was applied to the PCSG module sets. Modal analysis and frequency response analysis were then performed to validate the accuracy of the reduced model. The analysis results were compared with the full model and it was confirmed that the reduced model provided almost the same analysis results as the full model. To verify the computational efficiency of the reduced model, the computational time was then compared with the full model, and it was confirmed that the modal analysis time was reduced by 3.42 times and the frequency response analysis time was reduced by 4.59 times.

계면활성제를 함유한 폐수의 효율적 처리 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Treatment of Wastewater Containing Surfactants)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of wastewater treatment containing surfactant. For that, comparative analysis of effectiveness of Featon Oxidation, Aluminum Sulfate, PAC (Poly Aluminum Chloride) on the treatment of the synthetic wastewater containing LAS (Linear Alkyl Sulfate), a main component of the commercial detergent was carried. Then, the optimum pH, the dosage of reagents, and the concentration of the LAS in each treatment were determined. The results of the study were summarized as following. 1. In Fenton Oxidation, optimal pH was 3 and 97.92% removal of LAS was achieved. However, the increase of the pH reduced the efficiency of LAS removal. The proper chemical dosages of FeSO$_4$ and $H_2O_2$ were 300 mg/l and the increase of dosages didn't affected the removal efficiency. Therefore, it was concluded that the economic chemical dosage was 300 mg/l of FeSO$_4$ and $H_2O_2$. 2. In case of Alum treatment, optimal pH was 11 with 61.13% removal efficiency. At other pH range, the removal efficiency was very low indicating that removal efficiency is greatly influenced by pH. The proper chemical dosage was 200 mg/l with the removal efficiency of 77.65%. The increase of chemical dosage, however, reduced the removal efficiency. 3. In case of using PAC, optimal pH was 6 with 97.99% removal efficiency. The result showed that wastewaters containing surfactant were almost completely removed at pH 6 by PAC. Removal efficiency was decreased by increasing PAC dosage higher than 400 mg/l and dosage over 700 mg/l of PAC abolished the treatment. 4. The comparative analysis of three methods revealed that the effective pH ranges were at pH 2-5 with Fenton oxidation, at pH 6-11 with PAC, and pH 11 with Alum. The removal efficiencies at these pH were 83.95-97.92%, 75.98-97.99% and 61.13%, respectively. 5. Increase in LAS concentration reduced the removal efficiencies of all three methods. In the case of PAC or Alum treatment, treatment abolished at LAS concentration higher than 700 mg/l.

  • This paper presents a novel single-stage unity power factor converter which features the reduced switching losses by zero-voltage switching and zero-current switching (ZVZCS). Hence the turn-on and turn-off losses of switches are sufficiently reduced. And the reduced conduction losses are achieved by the elimination of one leg of front-end rectifier. And low on-resistance MOSFETs (Synchronous Rectifier) are used in the rectifier at the secondary side of high frequency transformer instead of diodes. Theoretical analysis simulated results of a AC to DC 150W(5V, 30A) converter are presented.

  • The use of plated front contact for metallization of silicon solar cell may alternative technologies as a screen printed and silver paste contact. This technologies should allow the formation of contact with low contact resistivity a high line conductivity and also reduction of shading losses. The better performance of Ni/Cu contacts is attributed to the reduced series resistance due to better contact conductivity of Ni with Si and subsequent electroplating of Cu on Ni. The ability to pattern narrower grid lines for reduced light shading combined with the lower resistance of a metal silicide contact and improved conductivity of plated deposit. This improves the FF as the series resistance is deduced. This is very much required in the case of low concentrator solar cells in which the series resistance is one of the important and dominant parameter that affect the cell performance. A selective emitter structure with highly dopes regions underneath the metal contacts, is widely known to be one of the most promising high-efficiency solution in solar cell processing. This paper using selective emitter structure technique, fabricated Ni/Cu plating metallization cell with a cell efficiency of 17.19%.

  • In this paper, 110kW high output density, high efficiency Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which can be applied on tram’s traction system is introduced, along with its output and loss characteristics. The motor model is 2pole 18slot model and its size has been reduced through the high speed for high output density. Especially, structure and retainer sleeve structure is applied to its structure, which is also appropriate for high speed rotation. This kind of structure has eddy current loss problem on the surface of rotor, which must be reduced for high output density design. This study has designed the most optimized additional design parameter in order to improve the output characteristics and efficiency of previous produced 2pole 18 slot 110kW motor model and how the width of airgap affects from the loss perspective is mainly analyzed. Finally, the analysis on the extent of the efficiency improvement effect compared to the previous model has performed through electromagnetic FEM analysis. The influence of airgap flux density distribution has also been thoroughly examined.

마이크로프로세서를 이용한 엔진점화시기 제어장치 (A Study on Spark Advance Control System using Microprocessor)

  • In order to improve the combustion efficiency of the agricultural engine, an ignition timing control system was developed and tested. The control system was composed of the CDI ignition circuit, the microcomputer and the interfacing devices. In this study, the simplicity of the control system and the flexibility of the control strategy were emphasized for the precision, the applicability and the economical efficiency. The hardware was consisted in almost the same compositions as those of the automobile engine. The softwares of the control algorithms were developed to three types depending on the combination of the quasi-adaptive control and the open loop control which had the different spark advance equations according to the input variables such as engine speed, exhaust gas temperature and brake torque. The test results were summarized as follows: 1. By using the computer control system, the fuel consumption efficiency could be improved and the fuel consumption could be reduced by 0 to 57% compared to that of the fixed spark advance system. 2. The fuel consumption of the control mode with the quasi-adaptive algorithm was reduced by average 0.8% compared to that of the control mode without quasi-adaptive algorithm. 3. It was found that the control mode with the quasi-adaptive algorithm adopting single input of engine speed had most applicability and economical efficiency among three types of the control algorithms.
