Redesign of Steering Wheel Support T-beam Structure to Reduce its Vibration Using Frequency Response Function Synthesis Technique (주파수응답함수 결합법을 이용한 승용차 핸들지지 T 빔의 진동저감 재설계)

  • The purpose of this paper is to reduce the level of idling vibration on a steering wheel. In some cases, vibration on steering wheel is amplified due to the resonance between the first natural frequency of T-beam and engine idling speed. Using SDM(structural dynamic modification) technique, T-beam is redesigned to reduce its vibration. This paper used FRF(frequency response function) synthesis technique which is entirely dependent on experiment. But this method requires lots of test efforts to enhance its reliability of design. While combining this method with an analytic method. the experimental burden, the major drawback of FRP synthesis method, can be considerably relieved. Using ana1ytic sensitivity analysis, some effective modification regions are preliminarily chosen as candidate Positions where SDM can be applied to modify T-beam\`s dynamic characteristics.

  • An electric-motor which uses electric energy to dry laundry in a dryer generates wind by rotating a fan. The roles of electric motor and fan are crucial for drying. To reduce the noises or vibration, their performances should be improved. However, it requires a relatively high cost to redesign them. In this case, redesigning the fan case rather than the motor or the fan would be easier and cheaper. This paper is to apply Taguchi dynamic characteristic concept with the ideal function of energy conversion to redesign the fan case. Not only the increase of the wind power but also the decrease of noise, vibration and the other side effects are resulted.

A Feature-based Reconstruction Algorithm for Structural Optimization (구조 최적화를 위한 특징형상 재설계 알고리즘)

  • This paper examines feature-based reconstruction algorithm using feature-based modeling and based on topology optimization technology, which aims to achieve a minimal volume weight and to satisfy user-defined constraints such as stress, deformation related conditions. The finite element model after topology optimization allows us to remove some region of a solid model for predefined volume requirement. The stress or deformation distribution resulted from finite element analysis enables us to add some material to the solid model for a robust structure. For this purpose, we propose a feature-based redesign algorithm which inserts negative features to the solid model for material removal and positive features for material addition, and we introduce a bisection method which searches an optimal structure by iteratively applying the feature-based redesign algorithm. Several examples are considered to illustrate the proposed algorithms and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present approach.

  • This paper presents a complete solution to intelligent digital redesign problem (IDR) for sampled-data fuzzy systems. The IDR problem is the problem of designing a sampled-data state feedback controller such that the sampled-data fuzzy system is equivalent to the continuous-time fuzzy system in the sense of the state matching. Its solution is simply obtained by linear transformation. Under the proposed sampled-data controller, the states of the discrete-time model of the sampled-data fuzzy system completely matches the state of the discrete-time model of the closed-loop continuous-time fuzzy systems are completely matched at every sampling points.

  • This paper deals with the problem of gust load alleviation in active control for the case that aeroelasticity takes place due to interaction between wing structure and aerodynamics on wing when aircraft meets gust during flight. Aeroservoelasticity model includes wing structure modeled in FEM, unsteady aerodynamics in minimum state approximate method, and models of actuator and sensors in state space. Based on this augmented model, digitally redesigned gust load alleviation system is designed in sampled-data control technique. From numerical simulation, this digital control system is effective to gust load on aircraft wing, which is shown in transient responses and PSD analysis to random gust inputs.

  • In this paper, a redesign of computer case is proposed by applying some guide lines of assembly and disassembly to an existing computer case. Some problems such as increase of number of disassembly and vibration, difficult assembly and disassembly from unfittable covers are recognized through analysis of geometrical structure and practical assembly and disassembly. A solution of these problems is proposed through ideas of ease of assembly and disassembly. Design for Environment Software is used to evaluate both redesigned and existing products. Time of assembly and disassembly and MET-point are especially calculated by the software, and these data give us a good guide for analysis of ease of assembly, ease of disassembly and environmental influence in both products.

  • In this paper, we have constructed an expert system for semiconductor chip encapsulation which combines a knowledge-based system with CAE software. The knowledge-base module includes heuristic and pre analysis knowledge for evaluation and redesign. Evaluation of the initial design and generation of redesign recommendations can be developed from the rules as applied to a given chip package. The CAE programs can be used for simulating the filling and packing stage of encapsulation process. The expert system is a new tool which enables package design or process conditions with high yields and high productivity.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a CAD (Computer Aided Design) system for research and development(R&D) of a new product. In the R&D process of a new product, the design objects are frequently redesigned based on the experimental results obtained with prototypes. The CAD/CAE systems (which is based on computer simulation of physical phenomena) are effective in reducing the number of useless prototypes of a new product. These kinds of conventional CAD/CAE systems do not provide a function to reflect the experimental results to the redesign process, however. This paper proposes a methodology to establish the CAD system, which possesses the engineering model of a designed object in the model database, and refines the model on the basis of experimental results of prototype. The blackboard inference model has been applied to infer model refinement and redesign counterplan by using insufficient knowledge of R&D process of new products.

  • In every aspect of automotive production, quality, productivity and cost are crucial matters. The purpose of this research is to improve the productivity of slip yoke for automotive propeller shaft. This paper presents how to redesign the component that currently manufactured as forged one body type. Attention was focused on not only reducing processing time but insuring durability of the component simultaneously. In Automotive, propeller shaft is the device for transferring power from engine to axle via transmission, and the slip yoke is one of the main parts in the product. Propeller shafts are subject to torsion and shear stress, they thus need to be strong enough to bear the stress.

  • Mendini works architect of magazine. He is a era-transcending designer who started design in late fifties and still works actively. In his design, there are some ordinary emotions which make people easier to approch to than without having any resistance. The purpose of this research paper is to define the traits of Mendini's design work. There are four main characters in his design; post-modernism, combination of art and design, use of contemporary art and traditionary italian colors and redesign. Mendini interpret tradition in modern way. His individuality came from the tradition, and also he modernized italian tradition to it.
